25.01.2022 A critical path in our journey to establish ourselves was to network with key personnel within the medical health and wellbeing agencies. Our first contact a few months back was Nicole Jolly, Operational Manager at Headspace, an Australian non-profit organisation for youth mental health. What a star, so passionate and with so much knowledge. Nicole dropped in again last week for an update and a dose of coffee, we are very fortunate to have Nicole’s ongoing support and influence.

23.01.2022 Major milestone this week, Federal Minister Ken Wyatt dropped in for a chat and a coffee. Ken is the Federal Minister for Indigenous Health, Senior Australians and the Aged Care and the Federal Member for Hasluck. Absolutely great to meet Ken, who has a wealth of knowledge in health support programs, and was very encouraging and supportive to our initiative and direction

23.01.2022 Last Friday, Michelle Roberts MLA for Midland. Minister for Police and Road Safety dropped in for a coffee and chat. What a pleasure to meet Michelle who has be...en the Member for Midland for over 25 years. Michelle enjoys a good coffee and was tremendously engaging, we look forward to further involvement over the coming months. 21.01.2022 Last week we took another step forward. With the support of the Matic Group, we will provide an EAP counselling service to all their employees, both within the metro area and their regional centres. Matic are a specialized transport and logistics company supporting blue chip clients in Western Australia and South Australia, with over 250 employees. We are looking forward to forging a strong relationship with their management team and employee base.... We are also strengthening our ties with disability provider My Supports (NDIS certified) by providing awareness and breakaway techniques training for their Carers. The training consists of workshop knowledge sharing and the learning of breakaway techniques. Carers, like nurses, are the front line for all people with disabilities including drug & alcohol dependents and need to know and how to react to danger signs and unexpected physical contact, our training prepares these stars for that possibility. 14.01.2022 There are many reasons why people use drugs, mental health issues, wanting to block the horrific memories of a childhood issue or just for perceived fun and peer group pressure. Please remember jails, psychiatric wards and hospitals are full of people that just wanted to have some fun. If you are prone to addiction it may only take one session on Meth and you are gone,DO NOT RISK IT, you will ruin your life and that of your family. Please pass this to your friends....

Many people are doing it tough as a result of job loss/suspension, unpaid bills, undue pressure on relationships, worries about loved ones catching covid 19 and general stress. If either you or a friend/family member are experiencing any of the above and need to chat with someone removed from the situation please message me . 14.01.2022 Over the last few months, we at LCC have been actively engaging with local community groups , particularly youth groups, and this week we started Barista training for young people from the Midland PCYC. The course goes for a few weeks, and at the end of the day, these young people will leave with a Barista training certificate that will hopefully help them with future opportunities beyond coffee making. If the first session is a guide, we have some good coffee makers brewing, very impressive group who were not shy with questions, and thoroughly engaging, just tremendous. Our hope is to further develop strong relationships in the community and be supportive to their development.

11.01.2022 These champions recently completed a Barista Training course organised through My Supports via NDIS. They were great participants and we had a load of fun. I am now a full bottle on most Home and Away episodes too which I am thankful for.

10.01.2022 Drug education in schools is severely lacking in my opinion.The education department needs the backing of the government and parents to ramp it up. By ramp it up I mean take students on a tour of a prison facility, a phsychiatric ward, show videos of addicts with psychosis picking at their faces until they bleed or banging their heads into walls until they knock themselves out. I have seen videos and in real situations, it leaves a lasting impression. It is not adequate to hand out flyers or have talks from well meaning professionals. Sure some students may not enjoy the experience but as a parent,would you mind if your child was shocked about seeing this if it were to stop them experimenting with drugs and ruining yours and their life? I am interested in people’s perspectives on this, thanks Darryl

08.01.2022 The gym at LCC is now up and running as you can see . A big thankyou to some great people who donated equipment : Tim Bovell, Phil Buhagiar, Allan Burn, Tim Anderson , Peter and Dixie Hyatt and Ben Barker.
