24.01.2022 FAQs are an excellent resource for building trust with your users. Here's more on why they're important and a quick activity to create them in less than 5 minutes.

24.01.2022 Project Update: This website is under wraps for now (sorry!), but wanted to share with you a small snippet of some #UIDesign we're developing for a healthcare client. Watch this space and we'll reveal a few more snippets over the next month!

24.01.2022 New initiative #last20insights is now live on www.last20.com.au Last20 Insights is a place where we dive deep into all things *better* websites with a bi monthly article. A better website is one thats more profitable and easier to use. Well attack the question from every angle including conversion rate growth, design, development, copywriting and platforms. For our first insight we've gone straight to the core and looked at how the science of persuasion can be used to desig...n more effective websites. According to persuasion researchers there are six universal principles of persuasion that explain why some people are able to get what they want, when they ask. Understanding these human truths is essential to web design because when someone comes to your website were going to ask them to do something. It might be to buy something, provide their email, send you an email and so on. The websites that achieve these goals do so because they are designed to #persuasive. From the six principles of persuasion we have created the Six Commandments of a Persuasive Website. Understanding these commandments is at the core of improving your website. Implementing just one or two of the tips can greatly improve your websites persuasive appeal. Weve gone deep and broken down the principle behind the commandment, included examples of current sites that use each commandment and provided tips on how you can apply the rules. For this reason weve broken this series into two parts. The first instalment is now LIVE on our site, find it by the link in our bio. Check it out and comment below with what you've learnt, found interesting, or perhaps you didn't like!

21.01.2022 Site launches are a busy time, it's all hands on deck for testing, content, and finishing touches. Sometimes, this means how you're going to share your site launch gets pushed aside in the race to the end. If this sounds like you, here's a mini launch plan: 1. Email your customers - Who better to tell than people who have already said, "Yes, I am interested in what you do"? Draft a quick email to your subscribers to let them know of your new site. Pro Tip: If you're an ecomme...rce brand, give these VIP-ers some love with a special launch promotion. 2. Email your team - It's not just your customers who are interested in what you're doingyour team wants to be in the loop, too! Most importantly, these people want to know WHY you have invested in a new site, and what it means for them. If there are people on your team who deserve a shout-out for their contribution to the launch, this is a great time to give them some recognition. 3. Social Media - Create a post and graphics for all of your social channels to announce your site. This could be a countdown, partner marketing, or even a live video talking about the site and your process behind building it. People love hearing about new projects, and it will help drive excitement across your community! 4. Celebrate - Finally, take a moment to appreciate what you have achieved with your launch!

20.01.2022 Who is Last20? Meet your team James Gidoomal our resident tech head, code junkie and by formal title Tech Director. And Soojee Ford our Brand Director, typography nut, empath, and design geek. After working together in different agencies and as freelancers we started Last20 because we could see how to do things differently for both our clients and future employees. Better websites, better quality work, better results! That's not the point of this post. What we wanted to do i...s introduce ourselves. Without further aideo... Meet James James is your typical design nerd with a glorious beard who loves the outdoors. He started as a web developer in 2012 by rescuing friends and family from awful websites and people who didnt know what they were doing. This led him to work with many startups and solo businesses as both a digital strategist and developer, but he knew if he wanted to create even better results for clients he needed a partner, so enter Soojee and Last20. Today, James welcomes the opportunity to help people on a larger scale by designing websites that work for brands who are passionate about what they do and how they help their customers. Meet Soojee Soojee is at her happiest (and best) when shes making things look beautiful and designing something that connects emotionally with people (like your website). She humbly has 10 years of design, branding, and marketing experience where she started her career working in marketing in an enterprise IT company and then transitioned into a leading role at an agency. It was there where she found her love for being in a creative environment and helping brands share their message with the world. Today, its her expertise and passion for evolving a brand through a combination of words, visuals and design that led her to Last20.

16.01.2022 #Typography often provides that "first impression" that people judge the rest of your brand by. The wrong #typeface can have your site saying belly shirt when it should be saying three piece suit. As design nerds, choosing the typefaces for our projects is a lotta fun! Heres a look inside the process we follow thats inspired by GoogleDesign. 1 Personality - If your business was a person how would you describe them? Witty, Slick, Natural? The first step we follow is ...to shortlist the fonts that match your brands personality. 2 Line Length - Next we consider much text your website features. If were designing an info-heavy site with lots of articles and content, we would consider the use of a small typeface for long bodies of text. 3 We Are Family - Some typefaces have big *families* of weights, others have just one or two. We take into consideration if the website typography needs the use of a multiple weights. If it does, well opt for a superfamily like Alegreya that has lots of options. 4 Go Big or Go Home - Sometimes we have sites that have short and sharp messages that need to be shouted from the rooftops. For these designs we opt for a display #font, as these large typefaces are designed to make an impact.

14.01.2022 Stating the obvious: we enjoy spending time with the people we like. And, if we like someone were more likely to do a favour when asked compared to if we dont like the person. It's also true between a business and its customers and of course a #website and its users. The Principle of Liking is one of the reasons social media has a strong driver for business growth. In fact, we're now seeing the more real and authentic content like Instagram Stories and Vlogs break down the ...walls between company and customer even further and rise in popularity. According to Dr Cialdini, five factors determine who we like, or in this case the brands and websites we love. They are: -Physical attractiveness (the aesthetics and design of your website) -Similarity -Compliments -Contact and Cooperation (like an About Us page) -Conditioning and Association (a company's core values or ideals).

13.01.2022 and your website one of those places where we tell your products story (aka your brand).

12.01.2022 Hi! Soojee hereId like to start the week by sharing this something Im really damn proud of.... Did you know Last20 is a #remotecompany and was like this from day one? With James and I living in different cities (him in Germany currently and myself on the Sunshine Coast), being remote was less of a conscious decision and more of a lets just make it work situation. For many traditional businesses, a business partner moving overseas for three months to travel could mean ...one thing... Splitsville! Throw in the other business partner being a new mum and surely it couldnt work... right?! By having processes, trust in each other, and the belief that a business doesnt need to look and function traditionally, weve been able to make Last20 work in the way *we* want. Weve done away with things like the 9-5 grind in one location, been able to pull off Operation Get Jimmy to Berlin, AND Ive been able to work from home while adjusting to my new life as a working mum (that still sounds weird!). Now that I am done tooting our horn, Id love to know if you work remotely! I have a feeling many of you do even in roles like #design, #bookkeeping, or #writing. Share your business set-up below, and show us how diverse businesses in 2019 can look!

11.01.2022 Creating beautiful, custom imagery for your brand is so important! It'll help your products stand out amongst the sea of competition, up your professionalism, and help your brand become more cohesive and consistent. Here are our top three tips for producing a #brandedphotoshoot. 1| Choose a photographer that really resonates with your business's unique style. You'll want your imagery to look consistent across your #branding and photography! 2| Use props and textures to hel...p your products stand out. While basic backdrop shots are great for product photos on a website, lifestyle shots can be used across your social, email marketing, and ad campaigns. - 3| Create a shot list to ensure you don't forget any crucial photos! You only have the photographer for an allotted amount of time, so make sure you get the most bang for your buck by outlining the shots you're looking for. Image shot by @___thelatest

10.01.2022 Hi everybody! Again, we apologise for the radio silencefrom bringing on two new team members (Baby Maxwell via Soojee, and our new operations manager, Tom), to being neck-deep in our first three client projects, these last few months have been a little chaotic. We wanted to give you a quick update now that were back online! What we stand for here at Last20 isnt just about making beautiful, functional #websitesits also about enjoying the work that we do. We create great relationships with our clients, dont take ourselves too seriously, and focus on working smarter, not harder. Weve developed and follow a specific process for our projects, and are always striving to improve and streamline our methodology. What do you stand for in your business? Do you have a specific process you follow with your projects or clients?

10.01.2022 Every site needs a #CTA or Call-To-Action: a statement that encourages the audience to do something, like buy your product or sign up for your email list. Whether it's "Sign Up", "Shop", "Get Started", or even "Try for Free", the aim is to drive customers to your #salesfunnel and give them solid direction on your website. Pro CTA tip: The words before your call to action are what creates the desire or motivation for your users to click the #button. If you want more people pushing your buttons, tell your users how your product or service will *help* them before asking them to take an action. If you're not sure what we mean, here's a preview of the new Last20 #website and one of our CTAs. Do you have any CTA's on your website, and do you see them converting? #LastLingo

10.01.2022 hey new likers, thanks for checking us out! - Soojee, Last20

09.01.2022 According to SalesCycle, 77% of carts are abandoned. That could be because of a confusing user experience path on your site, a strict return policy, or even a broken link. - At Last20, we make it easy for your customers to access your products with a site (and cart) optimized for higher conversions and sales. To ensure you don't lose a customer on your site, swipe thru to check out a few of our top tips. @ South Brisbane, Queensland

08.01.2022 Let's talk: Live Chat! Live chat is a service that allows you to chat in real-time with your customers, and offer them help when they need it most. Helping customers in the heat of the moment can help improve conversions rate, as their questions are answered immediately. In a nutshell, Live Chat can be set up to be reactive or proactive. Reactive is where your customers reach to you to ask a question like which product or service might suit them best. Proactive is when you ...may suggest a product or a page, or ask your customers if they need any help based on the content their browsing. Is it just a gimmick? Not according to EConsultancy, who found 79% of customers prefer live chat over other methods (like email and phone) because it allows for almost instant responses, they can multitask and guess what.... they don't like talking on the phone! In our opinion, there are certain sites that are better suited to live chat... it's not a blanket add-on that we suggest to ALL clients. But if you've got a high volume of traffic, consistent FAQs, high bounce rates or abandoedn carts on consistent products or services, live chat may be a great option for you.

07.01.2022 We may have been laying low on IG lately but were back people! Today the teams on location with Big Dog Pet Foods Timothy Birch Studio.. Weve bitten on a big one children and dogs, lucky their all stars! Check out our stories for some behind the scenes action.

07.01.2022 This picture was taken on May 2nd 2019, almost six months ago. It was day two of the @ownerscollective business mentoring summit, and only one day before we offically introduced the world to Last20. The perfectionist in me CRINGES at the fact we haven't been as visible with sharing our journey as I had intended to be, and of course I start to feel like "Has this business even worked??" So, in the name of self love, here are just a few of the highlights from the first six mont...hs of Last20: Coming up with a name... no one talks about how hard it is to find a name that you like! I'd love to know the hours we spent spitballing names around. In the end, Last20 came out of the desire to push things as far as we canin other words, go the extra mile. Meeting @TheChrisDo at @the.design.conference Collaborating with a whole host of uber talented creatives from writers, photographers, SEO experts, designers, project managers, producers, marketers... Last20 is certainly not just a two man/woman show. Having a desk at @commoncollectiveSC albeit a very, very sunny and slightly sweaty room for a few months before we moved in to those river views, sharing an office with this crew provided many laughs and great times. James being able to move Last20 Brisbane to Berlin The business mentoring summit and being a part of the @ownerscollective community.... this group of women are creative, inspiriing, humble and uplifting! So much of this feels like it was well over six months ago, and it makes me excited for what the next six months have in store for us! - Soojee Photo by @elinbandmannphotography

07.01.2022 Just like every design industry, web design comes with a whole library of vocaband it can be difficult to keep track of it all. Let us keep you up to speed with our ongoing guide, #LastLingo, where we'll explain various web design buzzwords with easy-to-understand definitions and visuals. - Visual hierarchy refers to the arrangement of design elements on a page, so that the most important elements appear to stand out more. This is normally achieved through the use of size, colour, font and special effects. In essence, visual hierarchy influences the order in which the human eye perceives what it sees.

06.01.2022 Consistency in design is not a new concept. We all strive for it, but you may not know why your marketing team holds everyone accountable to the brand guidelines. Dr Cialdinis Principle of Consistency explains why: by acting consistently with our choices, we save our brain having to rethink problems. As a result, hardwired into human behaviour, consistency is seen as a positive trait. Your customers look up to and like people and businesses who are consistent in their words, visuals, and behaviours. - To see examples and tips on how to use this commandment, head to the link below. https://www.last20.com.au//the-six-commandments-of-a-persu

05.01.2022 Hey guysJames here, reporting from Berlin! Im excited to say Ill be living, exploring and working from here for the next three months. Here at Last20, we believe in the power of technology to build our team and promote a healthy work-life balance. There are so many reasons why remote work is advantageous - its easier on the environment, provides a lower overhead for companies, and studies show that 65% of full-time employees thought remote work made them more productive o...verall. Time is the most precious resource we have, so removing the concept of an office environment frees up so much time. I love the idea that we can all actually work exactly how and where we want: Soojee is working at a coworking space and has a baby to look after, Tom (our all-star Studio Manager who youll meet soon) can work at home and spend more time with his kids and his other projects, and I can live anywhere in the world! The most exciting part about it is actually putting it all into practice, questioning the norm and overcoming the challenges that pop up. What are the challenges you go through when you work remotely?

05.01.2022 Have you got a piece of clothing that makes you feel STRONG? Im talking that outfit, perhaps a jacket or a pair of shoes, you put on ahead of an important meeting, that makes you feel confident. For me, its a black cropped cape and/or a pair of furry, white, leopard print shoes. A little unexpected if youre in corporate. But for me these two items dress up my attire and make me feel good and look professional so Ill wear them to client meetings or networking even...ts. Im certainly no fashionista (who says that anyway!), Im sharing this with you because these outfit choices are examples of cues I use in my everyday life to show Im an authority. Your website also uses cues like clothing, titles and trappings that send a message about how authoritative it is. Things like quality photos, infographic stats, and even brand elements like Dermalogicas labatory-esque name and aesthetic send subliminal messages to our brains that a website and a brand is a trustworthy source. If you liked this insight, its a part of our series the Six Commandments of a Persuasive Website. Check it out for the commandments along with examples of real life websites embrace the rules of persuasion. 04.01.2022 Don't you want to be known as the best *insert product or service here*? - Keep this in mind: people trust, enjoy, and remember products, services, experiences that are well designed. From your website, to your office, to your packaging, everything in the customer experience can be designed. If you want to be the best, take the time to design effortless and enjoyable experiences for your customers. @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

02.01.2022 Tip to make your your website more effective: In a world where we receive thousands of messages everyday our brains have created a method to sift through the noise. These mental shortcuts are quick tricks our brains play on us to place importance on what really matters. From the age old law of supply and demand, our brains tell us that if something is in short supply then we need to act now. Or, it must be more valuable thank something that is in oversup...ply. So whats this mean for websites? Well, whether you realise it or not, everything you sell - service or product has got a limited supply. A website and marketing can be made more persuasive if we bring the limits to the surface. How? There are three types of scarcity you can play with to get your customers to take action now rather than later: 1. Limited Stock 2. Limited Time 3. Limited Access. Now, dont get all dollar store on this. Scarcity is only effective and beneficial to your business if youre offering real value to customers and its true. People will see through your store if your best sellers are ALWAYS on sale with limited stock. The most important thing to remember about being persuasive online is TRUST! Be honest, provide value, earn your customers trust. These commandments are just the cherry on top to a great product or service. If you liked this little insight, weve now published the full set of the Six Commandments a Persuasive Website on on website. If you havent read the yet check them out via our bio ! #Last20 #digitalstrategy #webdesign #brisbanecreatives #sunshinecoastcreatives See more

02.01.2022 When you build a new website or want to improve your current one, there are two elements everyone looks at to create a great user experience: the copy, and the design. But many business owners are ignoring arguably the biggest one: video! Its no longer a question of if you should use video, its a question of howso head to our blog to see four creative ways to use them on your site! https://www.last20.com.au//four-creative-ways-to-use-video

02.01.2022 Weve made today meeting day. Dev James is on the Sunny Coast so were batching our appointments with clients into today and keeping the next couple of days free to complete the work... and get a few sneaky photos taken for #last20. Does anyone else do this? #Last20 #digitalstrategy #webdesign #brisbanecreatives #sunshinecoastcreatives

01.01.2022 To give you a little peek into what weve been working on Were getting close to lift off a new site for Big Dog Pet Foods! We began this project with the mission in mind to build a site that better represented their promise of happy and heathy pets. Building this website also meant that Big Dog would be able to better understand what customers were looking at on their site. We kicked off our collaboration by redefining their brand strategy, so here's a look under the hood at the brand's new mission statement. Stay tuned to hear more about our process, as we tackled everything from strategy and copywriting, to photography and site designs.
