14.01.2022 FROM THE PEN OF PAUL DAWSON: Thanks as always Paul mate! * Game 1: Swings Either Way vs. Just Here For The Beer (Nth 5)... * Game 2: You Up? vs. Troggies (Nth 4) The pic is captioned at the bottom of this post! --- GAME 1: Couple of good games today at Ferny Grove - one of the few grounds not still underwater from the sounds of things! Swings Either Way took down Just Here for the Beers in one of the plate semis for Div 5 - one of the best tempered games I've umpired in a long time, two sides who don't take life too seriously. Swings batted first and piled on 179/6 after batting first - their main run pinatas were mainstays Rohann Irving, who hit 56*, Dan Etchells who flayed his way to 42 and Ollie O'Sullivan who showed he's no Samson, smiting 41 even after cutting off a very impressive 2 foot ponytail he used to be sporting for a time. The Beers outdid themselves compared to last time in their reply - they scored 84 and managed to bat exactly 20 overs, only being all out off the last ball. Andrew and Chris Little did most of the batting for them after a top order collapse - but the big story of the day was Luke Graham who was swimming in wickets - I think in his case he was one of the few bowlers slow enough for Beers to get bat onto, but he snared 6, SIX wickets for 24 runs including a maiden, bloody incredible figures as far as LMS is concerned and helped put Swings into contention to add a carton of beer to their trophy cabinet next week. Man of the match: Luke Graham (SEW) - 6/24 off 4.0 Scorecard: https://www.lastmanstands.com/leagues/scorecard/1st-innings --- GAME 2: The second game saw You Up taking on Troggies - a closely fought tussle for most of it, but in the end You Up's batting was a bit too strong - although they conceded 170 off their 20 overs. Some good knocks by Lindley Pereira and Avi Japakumar for Troggies, You Up weren't too troubled in chasing it down. Kirk Harding-Smith and Mick Linnane both gunned 50's off 20 odd, and despite a few late wickets were always home and hosed, running it down in the 17th over.
