23.01.2022 Game of the Week: Result Wombats take bragging right into summer Batting first the Wombats got off to a fantastic start with Glen Arnold opening up stroking his way to 54 off 28 balls hardly hitting a ball in anger. Tim Dickson (44 off 35) at the other end anchored the innings allowing for plenty of freedom for the incoming batsmen. Wombats muscled their way to 4/173 hitting boundaries will wIth Brad McGrath (23 off 9), Ben Gorham (23 off 14) and Michael Were (14* off 9) fin...ishing off the innings. Gus Sloan was the pick of the Paddies bowlers picking up 2/30 off his 4. Paddies needed to get off to a strong start with stand in captain Mayur Kulkarni and hard hitting Abhishek Sharma the men to do this. Unfortunately the Paddies lost early wickets with Mayur Kulkarni and Shiva Kumar departing within the first 4 overs. Some resistance from the aggressive bowling approach was provided by Gus Sloan (38 off 26) and Karan Kaul (23 off 11). It was the introduction of Brad McGrath that all but ended the game. Picking up 3/7 and add in a sharp run out from Glen Arnold left Gus Sloan with a mountainous task of needing 55 off the last 5. Josh Genner burgled the last wicket to end the Paddies innings on 120. This now sets up an interesting last round with Paddies holding a 1 point lead on the table but a large lead on net run rate. B. Gorham

22.01.2022 **Game Week 7 Game of the Day** The Seaforth Derby The second battle of the Seaforth teams this spring season. The Rebels won convincingly the first time around and are adding strength to their team each week. The Sixers are coming off an impressive win last week, the first of their season.... Can the Rebels repeat the dose or will the Sixers make it two on the trot? Good luck to both teams.

20.01.2022 BRAD MCGRATH - 400 LMS GAMES LMS Legend, Brad McGrath, played in his 400th LMS fixture on Sunday for his beloved Wombats. Brad is one of the most recognisable, respected and well-liked players on the LMS scene. Brad started his LMS career with the Wombats and will bring up 10 years of playing LMS in January. He's won 4 LMS Sydney Championships with Enjoy The Ment (2), Wombats (1) and Fetch My Balls (1). Brad skippered Enjoy The Ment to the LMS Aus Champs final in 2018 a...nd the World Championships Quarter Final in 2019. Brad was also voted as the captain of the LMS Sydney All Time Dream team in 2020. Brad's phenomenal record boasts 11,052 runs at an average of 57.86 and SR of 202.64. Brad has taken 318 wickets at an average of 21.30 and economy of 6.40. Brad continues to play at a consistently high level and is getting better with age. He hasn't been dismissed in his last 6 innings and 3 of those innings include 14 ball 50's! Brad sits 2nd on the highest run scorers list in Sydney and is one of only 5 players to have scored in excess of 10,000 runs. Brad is only the third (currently ranked 3rd) player in Sydney to take 300 LMS wickets. Brad is the only player to be sitting inside the top 3 wicket takers/run scorers lists in Sydney. Brad McGrath, a true legend of LMS in every sense and a better bloke off the field will be hard to find! Well played, The Prophet!! 16.01.2022 SEASON PREVIEW CAMPBELLTOWN SUNDAY In huge news for LMS in South-West Sydney we have 16 sides across 2 graded leagues this Winter! This is by far the biggest competition in the history of the league in Campbelltown. We're stoked to see so many new faces involved this season!! It's fantastic for all the new players and old alike. Div 1 is looking strong with the rebranded The Giraffes our tip as the team to beat but they'll face stiff competition in a hot grade!! LMS Camp...belltown institutions Dharawal Dropbears and Six Appeal have the experience and will fancy their chances too. LMS Campbelltown veterans, The Red Bellies CC, are definitely the sentimental favourites in Div 2 and we're backing them in to go all the way! A big welcome to IRSL Burners, Oran Park CC, Oran Park Stars, Tigeroos, 8 All Out, Rahkeem Cornwall Fan Club, Willow Blues and South West Hitters! Good luck to all sides this season!

12.01.2022 Plays of the Week. Winter 2021 Game Week 1

12.01.2022 ** Killer Kierath ** The Short Covers have really lifted since being promoted to division 1 this season and have shown that they definitely belong!! Tom Kierath has been nothing short of exceptional and was on song when he raced to 96 (34) against Primary Club of Australia. The career best score helped The Short Covers post a big 219. It was a classic game with PCA rallying off the back of Scott Hocking 52* (20) and Trent Thomson 61 (29) to fall only 6 runs short!! Tom is ave...raging 164 runs this season at a massive strike rate of 260!! ** The Hayne(s) Plane ** 2020 Sydney Super Series Champion player, Ben Haynes, had another memorable LMS game on Thursday in what has been a massive year for Ben. The Primary Club of Australia have had a "slow" start to the season in the Eastern Suburbs Midweek Div 1 competition and would have been almost certainties to be relegated to Div 2 for the first time without a win last Thursday! Ben opened up the bowling with fellow Super Series Champion, Lord Fritz (Damiam Frittum), and got them off to a good start against Rope Smackers. Despite some loose overs from his team mates, Haynes kept them in the match with a spectacular spell finishing with 2/14 off 4 overs helping restrict Rope Smackers to 165. Ben then went out and hammered 51* (24) in a player of the match performance to secure a much needed win for PCA! ** Tully Found The Rope ** It's been a tough introduction for new side the Rope Smackers in the Eastern Suburbs Midweek Div 1 competition. It's a very strong league and they've faced some in form sides to start. Tully Challen didn't manage double digits in his first 4 matches in div 1 but that all changed on Thursday when Tully blasted 59* (32). It was a much improved performance for Rope Smackers taking the match into the 18th over. From all reports the Rope Smackers have been a great addition to the league with players and umpires alike enjoying having the guys involved. We're picking them to knock over the Dum Bushies when play returns in January!! ** Goodman and Roddy Go Large ** The Soggy Stingrays have found the going tough in the Eastern Suburbs Midweek Div 4 competition. All sides will know that the format can take some adjusting for new players and the Stingrays are no different! They were up against it when they face Laser Unicorns last Thursday with the likes of guns Wade Butler, Nick Brady and Briaan Llorente in the line up! The trio posted 21 ball (or less) 50's to set up a massive 250! Edward Thompson fired early with 29 (10) before George Goodman 64 (26) and Jack Roddy 61 (33) really started giving the chase a good shake! Sam Johnson 38* (23) tried hard late but ultimately they fell 36 runs short. Briaan bowled a brilliant spell to finish with 3/7 off 2 overs in an entertaining match!

09.01.2022 Back to Back LMS Centuries Elliot Wright from Chocolate Snowman has repeated the heroics of Smut Peddlers legend, Jono Gibson, by going back to back with LMS Hundreds!! Incredibly, that is now Elliot's third LMS Hundred in only 58 innings!! Elliott is now the 9th player to score 3 or more LMS Hundred's in Sydney joining James Madsen (4), Suthakar Senathipillay (4), Tim Phelps (3), Ben Maher (3), Scott Hocking (3), David O'Connor (3), Steve Sheakey (3) and Gus Sloan (3). Elliot is rapidly climbing the batting rankings, currently at world number 316 (with his latest knock not yet included) and will no doubt come into Super Series calculations!! Well played Elliot!!

08.01.2022 LMS HQ's picks for Play of the Day Game-Week 5 1. An Extraordinary performance from Simon Mclnerney with a 30 ball 92 for sultans of Swing. 2. First career 4fa for Anil Arora 4/10 (4) for the Darling Strikers ... 3. Playing his 176 match, Hamza Mahmood 4/12 (4) for the Western Swingers. 4. In just his 6th match, 3/11 (3) for William Yates Congrats lads, great effort. Who gets your PotD? Or if there is one we have missed, let us know in the comments below.

07.01.2022 QUINTON KOPKE - PERFORMANCE FOR THE AGES!! Quinton Kopke had an absolutely stunning match in the Eastern Suburbs midweek leagues in what is surely one of the greatest all time performances we've seen in LMS!! Coming in at No. 4 after a modest start for the de'koks, Quinton was on song early and retired on 51* (21) to contribute to his team total of 146.... The de'koks looked up against it with the Lane-Cove Long-Hops in form and boasting several big hitters. The Lane-Cove Long-Hops weren't scoring quickly but had wickets in hand and looked to be in control. The match turned in their favour when Izac McKillop 46 (26) started finding the boundary. With the match all but over the de'koks turned to Quinton and he responded with a triple wicket maiden!! In the match turning over Quinton was on a hattrick and missed out... but got him the next ball!! The late flurry of wickets reduced the Lane-Cove Long-Hops to their final wicket with 3 runs to get and 2 overs to play. In the 19th over the final batsman scampered for 2 runs to lock up the scores and go down to the final over. With the best result a tie for the de'koks from here their man Quinton delivered with the first ball of the final over to dismiss the Lane-Cove Long-Hops for 146 and tie the match!! Quinton's epic day out concluded with an astonishing 5/11 off 3.1 overs (including a triple wicket maiden), 50* (21) and a stunning diving outfield catch!! Well played, Quinton!!! See the amazing scorecard here - https://www.lastmanstands.com/leagues/scorecard/1st-innings

06.01.2022 **Sydney Midweek PotD** ** King Kierath ** Tom Kierath is in a real purple patch of form at the moment and he capitalised against the Swamp Donkeys on Thursday. With 168 to chase Kierath 52* (19) and fellow opener, Ed Pham 50* (30), put The Short Covers on the path to victory. The 19 ball 52 was Kierath's quickest 50 and moves his average for the year to 83 thanks to 5 unbeaten knocks in his last 6 innings! The Short Covers proved too good chasing the total down with 9 balls ...to spare. ** Heroic Hugh ** Hugh Burley batted an innings to remember on Wednesday night! Playing for LMS Sydney's most capped side, Johnny Cash Memorial, Hugh was left all alone after cameo's from Aaron Baker 33 (21), Yusha Fareed 22 (10) and little else from the rest of the line up. With nowhere near enough runs on the board to defend, Hugh knuckled down and made sure he batted through the overs. Hugh's epic 64 ball stand yielded 51* runs and gave JCM 117 runs to play with. Hugh's knock was the difference with JCM going on to roll their opposition, County Cricket Club de Grindrod, for 85! Hugh has been playing LMS since 2012 and it was great to see him put in a match winning knock for the ages!! Well done Hugh!! ** Duncan the Destroyer ** Duncan Allan continued his dominant start to LMS with his 3rd 50 in a row in 4 career innings! Vikings posted what seemed to be a competitive 164 before Duncan went turned the match on it's head with a 15-ball 50! Duncan's quick knock put "Who's This Team" into a dominant position and they capitalised chasing down the total within 15 overs. We're not sure if Duncan is a bit shy but his more aesthetically pleasing teammate was more than happy to pose for the pic! ** Best kits in LMS? ** The Sheakey Blinders put in a couple of stinkers on debut the last couple of week which led to team manager, Craig Fordham, getting on the blower and getting the team kits express posted to save the season. The Blinder uniforms arrived in time for their 3rd match and had exactly the intimidation factor they were after with a huge 117 run win! How good is their kit?!?! Blinders are up against the in form Spider Monkeys next week and we're tipping the Blinders to win easily with 250+ runs. Scott Williams has personally assured us he'll beat his 14 ball 50 this week and walk off undefeated off 12 balls or less.

04.01.2022 **Game of the Day Result | Week 7** Sixers vs Rebels A boil over in Manly with the underdog... Sixers knocking over the Rebels in a thriller by 4 wickets. Batting first the Rebels hit 6/140. Jason Pawley top scoring with 51 off 39 balls. Big wickets of Glenn Campbell (33 off 16) and Adam Parkinson (1 off 3) the key to Sixers restricting the Rebels. Brendon Williamson, Guy Readon and skipper Steve Baldwin all taking 2 wickets. 140 is never an easy chase and it got off to a terrible start for the Sixers losing opener Nick Gatehouse for a duck 4th ball resulting in 1/0 off the first over. Nic Chamberlain (50 off 31) and Christian Martin (27 off 14) steadied the ship. Christian being triggered LBW by son Stan umpiring. Nigel Kelley playing a crucial role with 31 not put off 28 seeing the Sixers home with 6 balls to spare. Graham Lello the star with the ball 4 overs 1 maiden 1/15 Tony Wishart economic as well 1/7 off his 2. The Sixers building plenty of momentum into Christmas. A great game between 2 teams of great mates. Plenty of yarns will be told with a few beers in hand. Ben.

02.01.2022 PRIMARY CLUB OF AUSTRALIA - SYDNEY MIDWEEK CHAMPIONS!! Congratulations to the Primary Club of Australia on being crowned the LMS Sydney Midweek Champions for Summer 2020-2021!! The PCA played their first LMS match back in 2015 and have always been a competitive team but haven't managed to breakthrough for a regional LMS title, until now!! The team. The match got off to a shocker for PCA when stalwart, Christian Patterson, was out for a golden duck and the in form skippe...r, Trent Thomson, also went cheaply. Ben Haynes 52* (28) and Damien Langley 50* (25) steadied things in the middle order to set up a competitive total of 166. The ever consistent, Lionel Singh 1/26 off 4, was the pick of the bowlers for BBTC. BBTC were looking good when Adam El-Daher 25 (11) got off to a flyer but opening bowler, Damian Frittum 3/22 off 4, continued to make inroads and put the BBTC lower order under pressure. Josh Smith 45 (28) kept BBTC in the contest but tight bowling and regular wickets, including a fantastic spell from Player of the match Damien Langley with 3/14 off 2.4 overs, put PCA in a good position to close the match out. PCA were able to dismiss their opposition with one ball to spare in a 29 run win. PCA have been so close before and with half of the dream team spots including Ben Haynes (All, Rounder), Trent Thomson and Guy Sebastian (Batsmen) and Damian Frittum (Bowler) they were deserved Champions!! A big congratulations for the 5 other midweek Champions this Summer: Western Sydney - Penchant for Pineapples East Sydney Div 2 - The Short Covers East Sydney Div 3 - The Bats East Sydney Div 4 - Cunzas East Sydney Div 5 - Cleveland Seamers
