23.01.2022 Great to see one our older teams return to the fold for the 2020 Spring season. 3rd Leg, ranked 4202, in the world played 3 seasons between 2015-16 and are made up by a core group of Reddies rugby oldboys. There are some very handy cricketers in this group and they shouldn’t be underrated for a second. Welcome back lads!! 23.01.2022 LIVE: Sydney Super Series 2020 - Semi Final 2: East Coast Whales vs Western Broncos

23.01.2022 The rain has gone away and the sun has come out for the finale of the Summer competition this Sunday at 3pm. It sees two of the most consistent performers clash in another season final, The Thirsty Crow SC vs The Sandpaperers. The Thirsty Crow have been a mainstay of the competition since its beginning in the summer of 2013/14, playing over 127 games with a world ranking of 424 and a national ranking of 156. The team has mainly remained unchanged over this time but have impr...oved over the years as the challengers kept coming. The players to watch for this fixture are Nathan Irvine with the swinging orange and Nathan Brookes with bat and ball, but on their day anyone of the line up can fire and take the game away from you. The Sandpaperers are definitely the young bulls of this contest who have really dominated the local competition over the last 4 years. They boast an LMS World Ranking of 37 and 16 within Australia as they approach their 61st game with only 3 losses. The players sure to be a headache in any match up with the Sandpaperers are Declan Orourke and Duncan McMaster with ball and bat. Nullifying them is definitely not job done. Waiting in the wings are an array of willing and more than able batsmen, bowlers and exceptional fielders. Winning on Sunday will be at the forefront of their minds right now but a shot at the national title can't be far away. Best of luck to both teams on Sunday. To all of the the other teams please feel free to come down and spectate and join both teams at the Thirsty Crow for a presentation immediately after the game. Registrations are open for an Autumn competition due to begin in mid April. Get in touch with me if you are interested. Cheers Rob

13.01.2022 Last ball of the Sandpaperers innings, no good on the home run but another handy couple ticked the score over to 164 off their allotted 20 overs.

12.01.2022 The Thirsty Crow are long time supporters of Wagga’s LMS Cricket comp, not only with a team in since the first competition but also as a sponsor for many of the early years pumping 100s of beers into the players post games. Not a bad time for a shout back, if you can. #drinklocal

11.01.2022 Brothers Galvin rolling towards a handy Sandpaperers total. Connor Galvin only just losing his wicket, to a Nathan Irvine c&b effort, for 48 from 28.

08.01.2022 This report has been a long time coming but unfortunately there was a bit of heat about regarding COVID on LMS, particularly in the big cities. We eventually squeezed one last round in before mass lock downs and luckily it was the grand finals. The Bellas faced off against the Phtevens in the battle for promotion and a flash new trophy and The Estella Exiles took on the might of the Sandpaperers for the Aussie nationals spot and LMS Wagga supremacy. In a very COVID-19, soci...ally isolated game, the Bellas went out to set a total. Unfortunately for them the Phtevens brought their A game with some tight lines and untimely wickets restricting the Bellas to 108 off their 20 overs. Enter Matthew O’Neill (someone tag the man) torching 50 off 28 at the top of the order, with good support from Trae O’Neill (45 off 32), to seal the final and their first division fate within 13 overs. The heavyweight contest on Michael Slater Oval saw the Sandpaperer’s head out to set a total. Despite a steady stream of wickets, opener Duncan McMaster was able to keep the team on track with 87 from 40 balls. The target was 187 and the Exiles set off after it with Andrew Stuart opening the innings and hitting 47 off 29. Sadly, he couldn’t jag a partner to stick around long enough, until the damage had been done, and the Exiles fell short of the win in the 17th over. Congratulations to the division champs and we look forward to catching you all for next summers competitions, if not before. Watch this space for a winter comp, potentially, in the next few weeks, depending on government regulations. Ps. Get the app, if you want sport to go ahead.

07.01.2022 The two foundation teams have booked their place in the upcoming season. Their clash is always a tasty one. Welcome on board the LMS summer of 20/21 to the Thirsty Crow SC and the Estella Exiles!

02.01.2022 A draw in LMS, can you believe it? Well, that's what happened in the game between Thirsty Crow SC and Just hit the ball! The Crow left a couple of balls on the park as they hit 131 all out in the final over and the response was looking very promising as, Player of the match, Michael Woodgate was in and firing. The fall of his wicket (45 from 27), however, slowed the progression as the Nathans turned the screws so much so that the game ended level. In the earlier games the Bel...la's were on top of the world after bowling out the Sandpaperers for 150. The elation didn't last as a double hat trick from, POTM, Declan O'Rourke (5/8 from 3) ripped the guts out of the innings leaving the Bella's with a miserly 55 run total. The Fine Legs fired back after last weeks match; keeping the Granite Mountain Hotshots to 94 from their full 20 overs. Performances across the innings similar to the POTM's (Daniel O'Reilly) 0/12 from 4 were the trick and his follow up with the bat along with Zac Lewis finished off the Hotshots total in quick time. To close out the weekend we had the return of big buck hunter Werner Kalmeier (POTM) for the Dean Jones XI against 3rd leg. The 3rd leg boys hit off first, led by Patrick Prest (58 off 30), reaching a total of 137 all out in the last. Jonesy's boys stumbled along early until Werner hit the crease at number 6 and proceeded to slap about all who dared, setting up his teams victory with an over to spare. Another reminder regarding player contact details, it has been good so far but we need to be spot on. Please input your team on the porthole before the game and make sure their phone number and email are correct. No player is to take the field with out these small requirements. Cheers and Good luck this week.

02.01.2022 The Summer of LMS Cricket in Wagga came to and entertaining conclusion on Sunday as the Thirsty Crow fought hard to unseat the Sandpaperers as Wagga Champs. While the Crow were able to play at the required level to topple the Sandpaperers in parts; it was, for them, unfortunately not enough. The Sandpaperers were sent into bat; headed, unsurprisingly, by the formidable Duncan McMaster and Declan O’Rourke. The Crow seemed unfazed to start yet that cool demeanor soon change t...o ecstasy with the dismissal of LMS Wagga’s premier batsmen for 2. Mitch Wickham came to the crease and looked a touch of class from ball one stroking a handy 27 off 15 balls. At his dismissal and a quick slap and dash by Jesse Uhr, Connor Galvin joined the fray to mount a considerable mid innings partnership that took both him and Declan into their forty’s. The forties are where they finished as the good bowling throughout eventually took its toll, the batsmen loosened their shoulders and the innings came to a close. Stephen Connors was the best of the bowlers with 2/28 off his four and Nathan Brookes was handy with out reward, 0/25 from his full set. After an invigorating contest of bat and ball the 164 that the Sandpaperers posted seemed to exceed expectations but chase is all the Crow had facing them and chase they did. Despite the loss of an early wicket Graham Sandral (40 off 35) and Jason Marian (55 from 35) held the innings together well, keeping the run rate in check for the majority of their partnership. Brookes and Craig followed, upon Sandral’s departure, and brought some added intent however the retirement of Marian and the onset of the fresh batsmen just didn’t add up to the runs required quick enough. Jason Marian remained not out and top scored for not only the Thirsty Crow in their 6/136 total, but also the game. Clancy Galvin followed up a good crack with the bat to post match best figures (3/7 from 2) just when things were getting a little on edge. Man of the match honour’s went to Connor Galvin for his crisply struck 48 from 28 and tight bowling at the top. All in all it was fantastic end to a very good summer of LMS Cricket in Wagga. Congratulations to the Sandpaperers!!! They have now secured six winners prizes in a row in the Wagga competition. Gold Coast awaits, but unfortunately due to the Australian Championships being held in September again this year our champs are unlikely to be able to attend. If your team are interested please get in touch. Now for the winter competition, due to begin in mid April. If you, your mates or your team are interested in playing please let me know asap.

02.01.2022 Out of the ashes of Rampant AC emerges a new beast Dean Jones XI for the coming season starting on the 11th October 2020. Featuring a splattering of the Rampant lads and some new faces; the challenge that these guys will pose is sure to be strong. Welcome and best of luck!

02.01.2022 Today could have been a cracking day to kick off the summer of cricket but we’ll have to wait until next Sunday (weather permitting) Awesome to have the return of the Fine Legs IIIV for another crack at glory after a highly competitive season last year! Also caught in this shot; we have the return of the Wiradjuri Wombats/Australia A and arguably the Wagga LMS kings of hungover cricket under a new guise the Granite Mountain Hotshots! Welcome back!

01.01.2022 Check out this weeks Wagga Dreamteam and why not have a look at the local batting, bowling, all rounder and keeping rankings. Where do you rank and how far off the Dreamteam are you? https://www.lastmanstands.com/leagues/homepage/t20/

01.01.2022 A strong start but the Thirsty Crow crew has hit a speed bump with a couple of quick wickets. The bowling has been the customary nagging length form the Sandpaperers but with 3 overs to go some big hitting is required for an upset of any sorts.

01.01.2022 After all the rainfall we still have our big Summer Grand Final to play but there’s no time like the present to start preparing for the Autumn competition. Games due to kick off in mid April and the competition is open to new and old teams alike Grab 8 or more of you mates and play the only outdoor off season cricket competition running in Wagga. For more information please jump on the website, email or call me.... Cheers Rob LMS Wagga Manager
