23.01.2022 A mesmerizing spell of bowling from Flamingos veteran Anthony Johnston was the highlight from the three Shoalhaven Winter league matches played today at Francis Ryan Reserve. AJ quite literally had it on a string as he took an incredible 6/14 (3.3) against Battalion. These figures will take some beating and sit proudly atop the LMS Wollongong bowling honour board. ... One more scalp would’ve seen AJ in the top 20 best ever global LMS figures!! Well done AJ

22.01.2022 We'll Bat First vs Tradies You Can't Trust - QUEENSLAND CHAMPS 2020 - Final

21.01.2022 *****TEENAGE TRAILBLAZERS PILING ON THE RUNS***** A couple of teenagers are setting the North Gong Hotel winter league alight with some incredible innings to date! Bowlers have been dispatched to all parts by 17 year old gun bat Jayden Zahra-Smith. ... Playing his trade for Enter the Dragon, Jayden is yet to be dismissed in five innings and has hit an incredible 302 runs at an insane 252 SR! Jayden opened the batting for Dapto in the Illawarra first grade competition last season and is part of the Cricket Australia Pathways Rookie squad. As part of this he receives dedicated tuition and coaching from former Australian test opener Chris Rogers - could think of worse coaches! Hot on Jaydens’s heels is 18 year old Callum Barton who has been on fire for the FOTs and JVFCC across the opening rounds of the winter bash. Callum has chalked up an impressive 230 runs from four innings at a very respectable strike rate of 235. After playing Green Shields with Sutherland last season, Callum is set to join ANU in Canberra this summer before progressing to Sydney premier cricket the following season. Bright futures await this talented duo who have been mainstays in the Illawarra rep cricket scene for some time. We wish these youngsters all the best with their cricketing endeavours and in the meantime will sit back and enjoy them showing the older blokes how it’s done in LMS! Tag a bowler who has gone the distance from either of these two.

20.01.2022 *************300 POLES FOR AVRO************* Huge congrats to FOTs and JVFCC spearhead Paul Avramoski who achieved a very special milestone yesterday in taking his 300th LMS wicket! In a decorated career spanning 11 years, Avro has bowled a mammoth 1,196 overs at an average of 31.5 with an ER of 7.9 to boot. He has bagged 3 fas on 22 occasions. ... Like a fine wine, Avro seems to get better with age....2020 has seen some of his best work with his average down to 25.5 and ER at 6.82 - very impressive numbers. He has never been the quickest bowler, but his guile and accuracy are what often brings his victims unstuck. Avro’s ability to pick up wickets at key moments and his unwavering loyalty to his teammates are two of his best traits. Often described as the heart and soul of the Lobsters, Avro would give you the shirt off his back and is a team player through and through. Well done on this wonderful achievement mate and look forward to watching you work up towards 400! https://www.lastmanstands.com/cricket-player/t20/

19.01.2022 Unfortunately, all Wollongong games are off today as grounds have been closed A call will be made on Shoalhaven games at 10am.

18.01.2022 *****CHEESE TONS UP FOR 3RD TIME & AROUND THE GROUNDS***** Filling in for Clowes Park against his own team the FOTs, Paul Marchesi was seeing them like watermelons as he took apart the much vaunted FOTs attack. Cheese blasted the orange leather to all parts on his way to a scintillating 124* (52) that included 8 x 6s and 13 x 4s. This is now his third career century and continues his recent good run of form. ... Only one round left in the Gong before finals on the 27th Sep. Meanwhile in the Bluestone Winter Cup in Shoalhaven, Liam O’Brien continued his purple patch of form with the bat blasting a 17 ball pineapple as Battalion dominated the Hi Flyers in a one sided affair. During the winter league, Liam has amassed 435 runs at an incredible SR of 262 including 8 pineapples from 9 knocks! With red hot form like this from their star all rounder, Battalion will fancy their chances to take out their maiden title in a few weeks time. Some brilliant bowling from Flamningo’s Jarvis Strand who jagged 4/12 (4) was enough to earn him man of the match honours and bragging rights in the Flamingo derby. BEST BATTING PERFORMANCES Paul Marchesi (Clowes Park) 124* (52) Robert Ivanovski (Red Tigers) 75 (46) Vipin Joseph (Gong Tuskers) 59 (39) Jake O’Connell (FOTs) 54* (16) James Bullivant (Mean Girls) 55* (17) Liam O’Brien (Battalion) 53* (17) Wayne Herbert (FOTs) 52* (21) Imran Zafar (Volcans) 50* (25) Troy Cole (Battalion) 50* (24) Aden Twiner (Battalion) 50* (28) Scott Kerry (Enter the Dragon) 50 (35) Luke Jurancic (Flamingos) 52* (45) BEST BOWLING PERFORMANCES Jarvis Strand (Flamingos) 4/12 (4) Dawoos Hassan (Volcans) 4/21 (4) Chais Kelly (Flamingos 2) 4/24 (4) Nathan Thorn (Battalion) 3/11 (4) Ben Larsen (Mean Girls) 3/16 (4) Craig Donnelly (Enter the Dragon) 2/7 (4)

16.01.2022 **********PITCH PLEASE ROLL ON********** Led by the Parsons bash brothers Hyeon 50* (26) and Alex 50* (30), Pitch Please have kept their winning streak intact accounting for a gutsy Hi Flyers. Pitch Please set an imposing 2/196 with MOM Daniel May also smashing 39 (13) and claiming 1/14 (4) with great support from skipper Angus Rhodes 3/16 (4). ... Hi Flyers skipper Don Kennedy hit his maiden and went close to chalking up a with a fighting knock of 90* (43).

15.01.2022 HATTY ALERT In-form Flamingos all rounder, Anthony Johnston was up to his old tricks yesterday as he ripped apart the Silly Sloggers batting lineup. The wily veteran picked up a caught, caught, bowled in succession to claim a rare hat-trick. ... AJ 3/22 (4), along with skipper John Guscott 2/10 (4), were instrumental in securing a big win over the Sloggers. Meanwhile in the Gong, a batting collapse saw Mean Girls sheikh of tweak and stand-in opener Tom Robinson face a plethora of deliveries as he dug in for the last six overs as last man standing. Tom hit nine boundaries and two zaks on his way to a hard fought 90* (70) as Mean Girls posted 7/131 against a disciplined Gong Tuskers attack led by Tobin Joseph’s 3/28 (4). Superb opening spells from skipper Mitch Bloomfield 2/19 (4) & debutant Carlo Teodorowych 2/18 (4) had the Tuskers teetering at 4/21 early doors. Enter MOM Vipin Joseph 52* (24) & Jomy Johnson 40* (31) who guided the Tuskers to victory with four balls to spare in a low scoring belter. Big congrats to Vipin who cracked 2,000 LMS runs with that match winning in his 60th innings. This ultra consistent batter now averages a huge 62 and boasts an impressive world batting ranking of 317. https://www.lastmanstands.com/cricket-player/t20/

15.01.2022 AROUND THE GROUNDS Owen Sutherland’s sizzling spell for the Silly Sloggers saw him become the first player in the Shoalhaven Spring Bash to claim a $50 bar voucher! Sutho was almost unplayable in the moist conditions in picking up 4/9 (4). It was no surprise that Sutho also claimed MOM honours, meaning he won himself a further $20 bar voucher. ... Being the good bloke he is, Sutho then shouted the boys a few cold ones across the road at our generous sponsors, Shoalhaven Heads Bowling & Recreation Club. Meanwhile in the Gong, FOTs veteran opener Loz went within a whisker of a maiden , smoking 90* (32) against JVFCC. He wasn’t the only veteran to shine - LMS Legend Will Jacobs smashed his fastest ever as he took apart the Steel City Punx attack on his way to a blistering 52* off just 13 deliveries!! Other notable performances were as follows: BOWLING Owen Sutherland (Silly Sloggers) 4/9 (4) Tristan Woods (Flamingos 2) 3/20 (4) Jimmy Smith (Volcans) 3/24 (4) BATTING Will Jacobs (Volcanos) 52* (13) 6 x 6s 3 x 4s Loz 90* (32) 6 x 6s 7 x 4s Jimmy smith (Volcanos) 55* (18) 6 x 6s 3 x 4s Jimmy Smith (Volcans) 79* (31) Tobias Hanger (Flamingos) 55* (22) Bradley Smith (FOTs) 50* (20) Scotty Aikman (Steel City Punx) 66* (28) Scott Nargy (Steel City Punx) 56* (22) Harminder Singh (Flamingos) 53* (23) Tynan Crocker (Volcans) 51* (26) Nathan Tyrrell (FOTs) 50* (26) Paul Marchesi (JVFCC) 56* (27) Dylan Higgins (Hi Flyers) 59 (37) Nathan Milthorpe (Clowes Park CC) 51* (31)

14.01.2022 UPDATE: Nowra games OFF today also. All Wollongong games are OFF today. A call on Nowra matches will be made at 9am.

13.01.2022 ***********SLOGGERS GET REVENGE*********** After being bridesmaids in last years Kiama summer final against Hold My Beer, the Silly Sloggers exacted revenge this time around in a closely fought final. Josh Norris 50* (42) anchored Hold My Beer’s innings with a controlled but the going was tough as Brendon Piggott 0/16 (4) and skipper Ryan Micallef 1/18 (4) kept the pressure on. ... A late order cameo from Cal Thistlewaite 27* (14) got Hold My Beer to a slightly under par 4/126. An early scalp was claimed in the run chase before Jaye Gardner 36 (25) and Josh Spain 33 (32) steadied the ship. Three quick wickets then really put the cat amongst the pigeons as Hold My Beer’s Sutherland first grader (and MOM) Flynn Parker 3/5 (4) sent down some thunderbolts to get his side right back in the mix. Coming in at #5 and with the game delicately poised, a brutal display of power hitting from Sachin Hall 35 (15) including 5 x 6s proved the difference as the Silly Sloggers won in the 19th over 5 wickets down. A very gallant effort from Hold My Beer who certainly lived up to their name in putting away no less than 4 slabs over the course of the day Congrats to the Sloggers and thanks to all players and officials for what was a really fun and enjoyable summer league. See everyone back in early October for spring league

13.01.2022 ******RYAN & JV SHIELD GAME - 3RD EDITION****** The beers and runs were flowing freely for the third installment of the JV & Ryan Baczynski memorial game between the Steel City Punx and JVFCC. The Punx were a little rusty after coming out of their winter hibernation but still gave a solid account of themselves putting on 1/156 with handy contributions from Nathan Stratton 50* (39) & Abel Anderson 49* (24). ... A steady 50* (40) from Will Jacobs and swashbuckling cameos from 33 (12) & Shane Dougie Mills 35* (15) saw JVFCC home with a few overs to spare. The game was played in the kind of spirit befitting of the two legends it was played in honour of between these passionate and skillful sides. Big Abz was awarded the shield for his sportsmanship - well done to all. RIP Ryan & JV. Lowki Stew Scott Nagy Luke Batey Nathan Stratton Mark Edge Jose Villa Shane Mills William Jacobs Jim Arsovski Tony Twigg Head Rocklobster Bryan Ferry Abel Cross Lochy Rowe

13.01.2022 UPSETS, TONS & 6s GALORE Glorious blue skies were on hand as the opening rounds of the Kiama and Gong Summer Leagues kicked off today. There were some massive upsets in the Gong with the Flying Camels knocking over reigning champs Gong Tuskers in a nail biter, while the Gators chalked up a surprise win over the FOTs. ... Clowes Park also enjoyed a tense win over the Volcanos, while JVFCC were no match for a red hot Volcans outfit. Comfortable victories to Hold My Beer, Pink Flamingos & Silly Sloggers rounded out a more predictable first week in Kiama. Some pretty special man of the match performances from around the grounds today as follows: Chris Hart (Volcans) 50* (21) & 3/19 (4) James Possum (CPCC) 51* (20) & 3/29 (4) Mitch Hayes (Flying Camels) 63 (38) & 0/16 (4) Tim Tourneur (FOTs) 54* (35) & 2 x stumpings Callan Thistlethwaite (Hold My Beer) 53* (25) & 3/4 (3) Steve Emmett (Pink Snags) 63 (24) & 3/20 (3) Brendon Piggott (Silly Sloggers) 55* (25) & 2/6 (2) Special shout out to Justin Rumble from Hi Flyers who smoked 105* (55) in Kiama today including 10 x 6s & 4 x 4s. Rumbler played a lone hand with only one other Flyers batter reaching double figures! SOUTHERN ZONE FINAL Bragging rights will be up for grabs Friday night as the Spring champion sides from each region (Pink Flamingos - Shoalhaven & Gong Tuskers Wollongong - Gong) do battle to determine the Southern Zone champion. Best of luck to both sides!

12.01.2022 Congrats to Harminder Singh from Flamingos 2 who smashed 114 (55) including 7 x 6s and 7 x 4s. If that wasn’t enough, he also picked up 3/11 (4) with the rock.....Harmy’s efforts were in vain though as Battalion prevailed by 4 runs in a brilliant game of LMS.

11.01.2022 ***********AROUND THE GROUNDS*********** An Antarctic blob couldn’t keep LMS players away from a bitterly cold day of action across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. Flamingoes 2, Pitch Please & Battalion chalked up wins in the Shoalhaven league while in Wollongong it was Gong Tuskers, Clowes Park CC, & JVFCC (x 2) that enjoyed the spoils of victory. ... Some impressive performances from around the grounds today..... BATTING Hyeon Parsons (Pitch Please) 87* (35) Liam O’Brien (Battalion) 51* (14) 6 x 6s 2 x 4s Jamie Smith (Enter the Dragon) 55* (20) Paul Batten Clowes Park CC) 52* (19) Chris Hart (Clowes Park CC) 51* (19) Oscar Jacques-Ball (Clowes Park CC) 50* (19) Febin Alias (Gong Tuskers) 50* (21) Jake O’Connell (JVFCC) 50* (22) Callum Barton (JVFCC) 51* (23) Nathan Tyrrell (FOTs) 54* (27) BOWLING Chais Kelly (Flamingos 2) 2/9 (4) Luke Jones (Pitch Please) 1/12 (4) Jibin Francis (Gong Tuskers) 2/14 (4) Paddy Ross (Mean Girls) 1/14 (4) Tobin Joseph (Gong Tuskers) 3/22 (4) Angad Sethi (Mean Girls) 3/29 (4) Luke Hopper (Hi Flyers) 3/32 (4) Special shout out to 2018 Aussie World Cup rep Jake O’Connell who picked up his 150th LMS wicket today, great stuff mate!

11.01.2022 The Flamingo derby was dominated by Luke Jurancic’s best ever bowling figures as he tore through Flamingos 2 batting order in taking 4/16 (3.3). Flamingos made short work of the chase getting the W in the 16th over, three wickets down.

10.01.2022 2020 YEAR OF THE BULL Mean Girls master blaster James Bullivant was at it again on Sunday as he took apart the Clowes Park bowling attack. Bull entered full beast mode in smashing 11 x 6s and 3 x 4s on his way to 86* (24)!!... 2020 has been a year most would like to forget but the Bull has gone to a level very few have reached in LMS across the globe. In 14 knocks this year, Bull has hit eight pineapples and two centuries, including the LMS all time 10th highest score of 182* (49). These runs have come at an eye watering 294 SR with a 150 average to boot! For any of the naysayers out there, these incredible numbers throughout 2020 haven’t just been a case of bullying the weaker sides. Bull has delivered in big games against the best teams in the Gong as well. This was showcased a few weeks ago with his blistering 74* (25) against JVFCC in the Winter league semi final, followed by a 52* (18) against the FOTs in the final an attack that featured Australian all rounders Jake O'Connell & Nathan Tyrrell no less. With 901 runs in the bank and another 10 or so games left to round out 2020, the Bull could quite conceivably rack up another 500+ runs to be closing in on 1,500 runs for the year mind boggling stuff! ***WIN 2 FREE GAMES OF LMS*** Comment below with your guess on what Bull’s final 2020 runs tally will be winner to be announced in the week following the Spring Smash finals (week commencing 14 December). You MUST TAG TWO MATES to go with your guess to be eligible. All aboard the Bull as he closes in on the global top 100 batsmen https://www.lastmanstands.com/cricket-player/t20/

10.01.2022 SLOGGERS FALL TO FEISTY FLOCK You will have to search far and wide to find a pink cruiser today in Nowra after the Flamingos partied long into the night. The flock were in fine form as they went back to back in claiming the Shoalhaven Spring league silverware with a hard fought win over the Silly Sloggers yesterday. ... A steady start by openers Levi Webber 40 (21) & Alec Cooper 31 (29) set the platform for #3 Harminder Singh 50* (25) & #4 Luke Jurancic 40 (18) to launch the flock to an imposing 4/179 on a sluggish Vic Zealand outfield. Blake Harrison 1/22 (4) was the Sloggers best with the ball and had good support from the wily Kizza Duncan 1/32 (4). A tight first-up set from Tobias Hanger 3/32 (4), Jurancic 1/29 (3.3) & Chais Kelly 0/17 (3) made runs tough to come by as the Sloggers fell well behind the required rate. Enter MOM Josh Spain who changed the complexion of the final with a swashbuckling 21 ball . Unfortunately for the Sloggers, no other batsmen could keep pace with the run rate. The Flamingos fielded superbly and took every chance that came their way including two brilliant run outs. Needing 25 off the last over and standing as last man, Spainy managed to hit 4 & 2 before falling victim to an outstanding direct hit from Hanger attempting another 2 on the third ball. He ended up with 76 (32) with 6 x 6s & 5 x 4s in a knock that had the Sloggers believing they could get out of jail right to the death. Congratulations to both sides for a final played in great spirits between these two very competitive teams. Thanks to Higgo, Ryan, Spainy, Chais and Watto for their umpiring efforts during the season. Special mention to major sponsor Shoalhaven Heads Bowling & Recreation Club for putting on a great spread and plenty of winners piss for the flock last night Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. See everyone back Jan 10 for summer league

06.01.2022 The mighty Mean Girls looking resplendent in their LMS shirts @ the SCG

06.01.2022 MOTHER/SON COMBO BAG 5 for FOTs Last Sunday the FOTs handed a debut to Sandra Laboureur, a former NSW female indoor representative and mother to FOTs all rounder Brad Smith. Having not played any form of cricket for 12 years, Sandra wasted no time in getting amongst it again as she tore through the Steel City Punx batting lineup, picking up 3/45 (4). ... Not to be outdone and feeling inspired by his mum’s performance, MOM Brad Smith bowled with his customary zip to jag 2/6 (1.3) to go with his sizzling 53* (17) with the bat. A quality, memorable performance from mother and son in getting the FOTs a big win!

05.01.2022 Great news from the government today with the gradual easing of restrictions set to commence. Stage 2 looks like our best best for getting back on the paddock - more details to follow in the coming weeks. Winter leagues will run in both the Gong and Nowra. All games Sunday’s. ... 04.01.2022 ***FOTs & JVFCC CLAIM SUMMER LEAGUE TITLES*** The FOTs have chalked up their first title in the long awaited Gong Summer League Div 1 final against a gallant Gong Tuskers outfit. Batting first, the Tuskers found runs hard to come by early as Jake O’Connell 1/11 (4) and MOM Shane Mills 2/17 (4) applied the blowtorch. ... A steady 41 (42) from skipper Jilson John anchored the innings as the Tuskers scratched out a below par 6/107. The Tuskers had their tails up with three early scalps thanks to some tight lines from Jibin Francis 2/16 (4) & Ajith 1/15 (4). With the game hanging in the balance an aggressive 41* (30) from skipper Cheese with good support from Tiz 29 (28) and Millsy 13* (5) was enough to get the FOTs over the line in the 18th over. The Tuskers would have dearly loved an extra 20-30 runs but in the end, the FOTs experienced players delivered when it mattered. A low scoring, but very entertaining final that was played in good spirits by these great rivals. Meanwhile in the Div 2 final, led by a dominant batting display from their top 4, JVFCC piled on the runs against Mean Girls. Callum Barton 55* (20), Doudee Vannavong 50* (20), Chris Garrett 50* (30) & Adrian Bartlett 47* (44) were the chief destroyers as JVFCC amassed an imposing 0/227. Ben Larsen 50* (35) was the pick of the Mean Girls batters and had some valuable support from Ben Potter 30 (25). But it was the old warhorse, Paul Avramoski with a wily 2/12 (4) who shone brightly with the ball for JVFCC as he helped restrict the Mean Girls to 5/136 in reply. Other notable performances from across both divisions Summer league finals day were as follows: James Bullivant (Mean Girls) 87 (25) 8 x 6s 7 x 4s Callum Barton (JVFCC) 50* (12) 7 x 6s & 55* (20) Doudee Vannavong (JVFCC) 50* (20) Jake O’Connell (FOTs) 54* (24) Febin Alias (Gong Tuskers) 50* (26) Chris Garrett (JVFCC) 53* (30) Ben Larsen (Mean Girls) 50* (35) Joby Iype (Gong Tuskers) 52* (42) Jim Arsovski (JVFCC) 3/26 (4) Paul Avramoski (JVFCC) 2/12 (4) Jibin Francis (Gong Tuskers) 2/16 (4) & 2/15 (4) Jake O’Connell (FOTs) 2/18 (4) & 1/11 (4) Mitch Bloomfield (Mean Girls) 2/15 (4) Shane Mills (FOTs) 2/17 (4) Doudee Vannavong (JVFCC) 2/9 (2) Robin Marshall Wythes (Clowes Park CC) 2/15 (3) Peter Hobson (Volcans) 2/17 (3) Jack Yates (PK Panthers) 2/22 (4) Congratulations to all teams that took part today and look forward to getting back into winter league games again next week!
