18.01.2022 My new acoustic bass guitar is finished just in time for the National Folk Festival in Canberra: it's made from cherry, king billy pine, gidgee and purple heart. The x-braced cherry back gives a lot of punch

16.01.2022 my latest C extension - 4 gates, 2 pulleys for accurate tuning, stable adjustable C stop, no modification to scroll
15.01.2022 Developing a new model: Jumbo acoustic guitar. I'm adopting a new approach to design of the back to simulate the response of carved back. I feel that the classic ladder-braced back does not give a "unified" acoustic response. So I am trying a tuned X-brace on the back which holds a continuous preset curve - tap-tones are very encouraging. I'll be showing this guitar in its partly built state at the National Folk Festival Canberra this Easter - come and have a look and a tap!
15.01.2022 Here's Ann and Dion playing his latest song I Don't Mind on a pair of my guitars, a Parlour and an Archtop
14.01.2022 Here's an interesting article on orchestral double bass technique from renowned solo bassist Gary Karr: 'I have never ceased to be amazed by the lack of knowledge and respect demonstrated by some conductors towards the double bass section' http://bit.ly/1CVe93q
13.01.2022 What better use for a hand made guitar than ... doorstop!
13.01.2022 2 guitars finished - both built the same except for the necks: one of mahogany and one of cherry (both laminated with rock maple) - amazing difference in sound
08.01.2022 This is the first of a series of archtop guitars of various timbers including Spruce (Sitka and European), King billy Pine, Swiss Cherry and Maple. Gorgeous photos by Ali Marcer of Ali's Studio in Faulconbridge
