24.01.2022 Am feeling very excited about day one of the Latin American & Caribbean Hemp Summit as the sun literally rises over the beautiful city of Montevideo, Uruguay th...is morning. If the calibre of conversation and passion coming from the handful of attendees at last nights informal mixer in the hotel bar is anything to go by, this event is going to be a great one! I'm so looking forward to listening to and learning from the speakers today, and will be reporting back on what is going on in this rapidly growing industry in a very dynamic part of the world. Expanding on a concept... covered by Daniel Kruse as the first speaker of the day and several since, Raúl expressed his frustration with the time spent negotiating and fighting with regulatory organisations and government authorities rather than being able to focus on growing his own business, describing the "grey area" of the way the plant is treated creating a "vicious circle" when trying to build and grow a company. In Raúl's opinion, hemp simply needs to be treated as per any other internationally traded commodity like coffee, tobacco or alcohol with consistency between nations and states. See more

Discussing - among many other points - the reduction in the percentage of flowers down to 50% with a shift towards whole plant biomass use for CBD and about 10% used for seeds which are predominantly exported to the United States; the Uruguayan system of licensing, and the "learning curve" experienced by local business people within this fast-growing and relatively new industry.
