22.01.2022 Been a bit quiet on here; the last few weeks have been very emotional but on a brighter note we decided we wanted to hatch our own chooks. The kids are very excited, we have a mix of pure pekins and pekin x araucana eggs and im manually turning 2-3 a day. Hopefully we will have some cute little fluff balls in 20+ days. 09.01.2022 PLASTIC FREE JULY! Its the start of plastic free July and although we are not 100% plastic free YET! we have made a lot of changes and continue to make changes both as a family and as a business to become more plastic free and sustainable. Over the last 3 years Lather n Scrub has made and continues to make changes to be more plastic free. We buy oils, essential oils and fragrances in bulk were possible to cut down on the amount of bottles going into landfill. We have also sw...itched from plastic organza bags and shrink wrap to cotton muslin bags and cardboard soap boxes for product packaging. Our shipping materials have changed too: we used to purchase packing peanuts and bubble wrap and now we use tissue paper and make our own shredded paper. Our latest change is to stop using paper towel to wipe out left over soap batter, now we use cotton rags and throw them in the wash. OUR GOAL FOR PLASTIC FREE JULY 2020: to replace the plastic packing tape we use! 07.01.2022 Egg update: We candled at day 10. Unfortunately only 9 eggs may develop 13 were clear. We are giving the 9 a few more days to see if anything will develop. At this stage we should see clear veins and an embryo moving so we think the eggs got damaged in the post. Thats the risk you take when buying shipped eggs! 06.01.2022 EGG UPDATE DAY 18 LOCKDOWN DAY!! Out of 24 eggs 20 made it to lockdown (3 infertile and 1 died early = blood ring) We can already hear chirping and 1 egg has already pipped internally into the air cell. Hopefully we will have babies in the next day or so. Lockdown simply means i no longer have to keep manually turning the eggs, put in non slip matting under eggs and raise humidity up to 65-75%

01.01.2022 We used all natural colourants for our river rock soaps activated charcoal, various clays and diatomaceous earth. Its been quite an interesting experiment ive never made anything like this before but knew I only wanted to experiment with natural colourants. In the pot swirl technique has been used to achieve a realistic river rock look. We experimented with a few different combinations of colours over the last couple of weeks. 01.01.2022 If you are new to shampoo bars, you might have a transition period where your scalp hasn't gotten the message to stop overproducing oil since it is no longer being stripped. This oily period usually lasts for about 2 weeks although many people don't notice a significant change. Alternatively you can also try using an ACV rinse after using the shampoo bar. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR RINSE: Take a cup with 2tbs of Apple cider vinegar into the shower and fill with warm water. Tip throu...gh hair avoid contact with eyes and rinse after 1-2mins.
