It looked so good too, Bunnings trolley loaded up at the very efficient click and collect..oh well!! Sarah and Kelvin enjoyed the photo op while unpacking!

25.01.2022 The Latitude Team out for International Womens Day walk around Cherry Lake following a stirring speech from HBCC Deputy Mayor Councillor Wilson The theme for this year #EachforEqual The campaign highlights six key areas:... 1. Championing women forging tech innovation 2. Applauding equality for women athletes 3. Forging inclusive workplaces so women thrive 4. Supporting women to earn on their own terms 5. Empowering women through health education 6. Increasing visibility for female creatives Here at Latitude wed also like you to think about women being free of all forms of violence and having access to safe accommodation...like a home #everybodyshome #endhomelessness #motelsandmisery

24.01.2022 Check out these fabulous masks, not only do they keep you and the community safe they do even BIGGER good by donating $1 from every mask sold to Reach Out an online mental health service..so check them out. We were lucky to receive some and they have been popular!!

24.01.2022 Thanks for highlighting the issue Goya! We just need more housing!!

23.01.2022 Yes the sun is shining; yes it is school holidays, looks like being a lovely weekend. SPEND IT AT HOME! Latitude has received wonderful support from our community and we are still here. We have another ask please stay home. If you dont need to go out, dont. We need to think of the frontline responders, hospital staff, ambulance, Vic Pol. We need to do our bit and stay home. Latitude is continuing to provide support, if you need us please ring and if you come to Latitude Altona we ask that you wait at the gate. It is challenging for everyone but this is when we really need to shine as a community. We can do it.

23.01.2022 Not only did we receive this huge pantry stash we also received these beautiful cupcakes for the Latitude Team! Latitudes very own Fairy of Goodness Androulla. Cant thank you and your gorgeous family enough and those cupcakes. .well you lifted our spirits like you would not believe!!! Thank You Made us feel very special

22.01.2022 Tis the season when we are jolly!!!! Latitude Christmas at Logans Reserve 2019. The Team created a fantastic Latitude Christmas with special guest Santa (shout out to Altona-Village Traders Association for helping us out with North Pole connections) and a huge thank you to Charlie for Santas glorious ride. And it would not happen without our incredible Christmas Elf Androulla, incredible lady!!! Little bit of magic!

22.01.2022 Check out Santas Helpers!!!! Huge thanks to the Bunnings Altona Team for gathering together these bags of goodies straight from our wish list!!! Magic. Such a wonderful community. Joy to you Team Bunnings!!!!

22.01.2022 This will bighten your day: check out these amazing waterproof bags and socks designed by students at Lumineer Academy. We gave the students a briefing around the impact of weather for people experiencing homelessness, these are some of the designs developed by the students. Just incredible, the thinking behind these designs is mind blowing, from camouflage material so that bags can be stashed in bushes to socks with high viz around the top for safety when crossing the road.. just two examples, they were ALL amazing. On top of that from recycled materials AND each student spoke oh so eloquently about how they came to their design. There should be some very proud parents and teachers out there! Our future is bright and sustainable!

22.01.2022 Warm embrace of our community Hobsons Bay Boomerang Bags, the wonderful Madeleine and the ever reliable Donna what stars, gone from empty to bit over half full in NO time!!! Wonderful Wonderful Community!!!!

22.01.2022 Just where are these little piggies off to? Market? No theyre off to the bank!!!! These little piggies emptied out (?!) and provided a massive $681.00!! It all adds up. 5 cents 10 cents some gold creates chubby little piggies that Latitude will now use directly on our young people for any odd stuff they may need. Need a little piggy to capture that way too heavy to carry around change...get in touch. Its a fabulous way to recycle, piggy exchange. ... Our Latitude Piggies are ready for a new adventure, they are all ready to go. Wouldnt you love one??

20.01.2022 As we all know we are living in very tricky times! So its incredibly heartwarming to receive these wonderful face masks handmade with love by the Vietnamese Association in Hobsons Bay. We have been a bit (well ok a lot) worried about our young people as for some it is very difficult for them to grasp what is actually occurring in the world...you know the pandemic. So these masks will assist us to get the message through and then they too can do their bit to keep us all safe. Please be kind if you see someone without a mask, there may very well be a legitimate reason as to why they are not wearing one. Have a conversation (at a safe distance) keep the judgement to yourself until you understand the why.

19.01.2022 Huge shout out to Daniel Mulino. We had a great meeting during homelessness week, we really value the support. And so nice to be acknowledged for the work being done during the current covid crisis. The homelessness sector is a strong committed workforce. Value us = value the people we serve

19.01.2022 You know it's Christmas when Rotary Altona start singing!!! Such a joy to be part of their Christmas celebrations. This fabulous group supported not just latitude through this crazy year but many others like our local salvos and the Altona RSL welfare branch... underground BBQS..no.. although keep an eye out cause the BBQs are back on!! Merry Christmas to you Rotary Altona and thanks for searching out the toliet paper and other stuff in our time of greatest need! No one gets left behind when the Rotarians are around. Tinsel to you.

17.01.2022 We are soooooooo very very lucky to have the BEST fairy of goodness going round! Yep the wonderful Androulla has been at it again, supporting our peeps with this fabulous array, straight off the list!!!! We would also like to place a huge shout out to Androulla's helper Demyana. And perhaps it's wrong....but wow look at those doughnuts...yeah they are for the Team...we feel special...thank you, we really appreciate you lookin' out for us, we really do. What a fabulous way to end the day!!! Coffee anyone?

16.01.2022 Today is Youth Homelessness Matters Day... In the strange times we are currently living please be mindful that the stats dont really change. Youth Homelessness is hidden, COVID19 or no COVID19 that stays the same. Here at Latitude we are seeing the amazing strength of many of our young people as they do their very best to just get on with it..safely...we are also seeing those young people who are not managing so well, its challenging for us all but for some its really tricky, particularly when you struggle on a normal day..even harder when so many services are phone only...its so important to maintain connection right now and be mindful that connection can just be a smile to a stranger on the street....particularly a young person #YHMD2020 #everybodyshome

15.01.2022 We just want to say a massive thank you to our wonderful, thoughtful, super giving community for all the incredible hamper donations. Thanks to you..no one...like no one will miss out..the office is in chaos but well post a sneak peek tomorrow when we have put it all together...we LOVE this kind of chaos. You are all STARS!!!!

15.01.2022 We started with a mark of respect in a minutes silence and guard of honour marking the passing of our Harold Rixon. Such a gap has been left..and we really noticed it today. We had to wait a long time to do this as Harold passed during covid. Unfortunately we didn't get a win.. though it's not about winning... not that Harold would have agreed with that! So good to have footy back! WOOF!

13.01.2022 CHRISTMAS SHOUT!!!! We are always so well supported by our fabulous communities of Hobsons Bay and Moonee Valley and it is a bit cheeky.......but.... We have been caught a bit short for our hampers, we really thought we would be fine given the generosity we have already received but we have been caught short...not massively..but a bit.... Heres what we are short of:... Cereal - cornflakes etc Cordial Long life Milk Vegemite/Peanut Butter Pasta Pasta Sauce Tomato Sauce Tinned Tomatoes Savory snacks or similar Tinned soup - the meal like ones - loaded etc Toilet paper Tinned spaghetti NOT Beans We are super grateful for whatever we receive however we do have a LOT of beans...so we are good for beans!!! If you can help us out at all we would be very very grateful. You can drop items off at 2 Somers Parade Altona or 25 Mt Alexander Road Flemington until Thursday 19th December. Help us spread the joy!!!

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our Jess the winner of the 2020 Latitude Footy Tipping Competition!!! The trophy was fiercely contested however Jess's cool head prevailed cruising to a confident win half way through the last round. In these strange times we've thrived on the competition..and let me be clear the Latitude crew are mighty competitive!

13.01.2022 You may have been wondering just what we have been up to here at Latitude, we know we may seem awfully quiet. Its a bit difficult when we cant share whats been happening with our programs, by now we would have played lots of footy, completed our Food Angels program with exciting Masterchef style cook off and be almost at the end of our first young womens group in a long time. As we all know the world has been a bit different, so this is what we have been doing: Receiving ...the most generous donations from our community, massive shout out to the amazing Androulla, you have managed to keep our pantry healthy. We extend our pantry thanks to all who have given so generously. This generosity enabled us to extend our pantry support to rooming houses in our local areas where we have been checking in. And that has been a lot of our work, making sure our young people are ok, we have also been supporting slightly older young people in crisis accommodation during the lockdown. Our issue remains the same however, we need more housing!!! So many people have been accommodated in a range of hotels as they did not have a safe place to isolate...as the world reawakens...where to now...this is something you might like to ask your MP.....#everbodyshome

12.01.2022 Trust me there was social distancing when the cast and crew of Latitude got together to celebrate what has been a most unusual year. It's been such a crazy year that we didn't acknowledge our committee elected in November, so here they are: Matt, James, Annette, John, Leigh, Graeme, welcome Rina! And you know the team: Pete, Tania,Jess, Sarah, Kelvin and Kate. It's been a hard slog for the team this year made that much easier by amazing support from our Committee they truly are wonderful. And you may have noticed we had a special appearance from our previous Chair ( won't say old) Amy who displayed hidden talents as our quizmaster for the evening! So much Joy!!!

12.01.2022 Todays make you smile moment: We were contacted by an Avondale Heights resident David who wanted to help us out. This is what he did: purchased extra shopping and then turned that ever so practical and needed items into four ready to go hampers!!! And can I say a little bit of Easter thrown in as well. Thrown not really being the right word as these bags are the polar opposite of that, they are ever so thoughtful. Little bit of magic. Thank you David.

11.01.2022 Its the day before Christmas and time for us to go and spread some joy amongst our families who support us all year to do what we do. Thats just like our amazing community who embrace us year after year. We can not support our young people without you. If we start naming names we run the risk of missing someone so we are not going to do that. How good is it when there are too many supporters to name!!! So thank you for all your support, keep safe, keep an eye on those who may not be having such a great time this Christmas..its not fabulous for everyone....most of all do what we do and SPREAD THAT JOY!!!!!!!!

11.01.2022 This group of amazing people gave up their Saturday to reflect, review and plan for Latitudes future. We are very fortunate here at Latitude to have such a committed group of volunteers... otherwise known as our Committee of Management. Shout out to Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre for sharing their wonderful space. So good to be doing a bit of face to face rather than zoom!

10.01.2022 Big decision but one we had to make... Season over and out for our little Doggies!

09.01.2022 Just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge just some of the incredible people who have been helping us out during this crazy unpredictable time: Androulla D our Christmas Elf has been incredible..huge shout out to you and your lovely family and while we are talking about Christmas our Santa and his helper have been fabulous (may have some connection to Altona Traders, Boomerang Bags and just general good stuff) To our wonderful David who provided us with very thoughtful bags... yet again..meals ready to go To Rebecca L, Denise H, Tracie F, Nathan S we have been overwhelmed by your support And to all the members of our wonderful communities who have donated or just asked us how we are going we just wanted to say your kindness has not gone unnoticed. 09.01.2022 It's been a super busy start to the year here at Latitude so a little time out to play cards is ok..... particularly when playing with Community Cards! Whenever we are in need of a JP or we are seeking support from our fabulous Traders Mr Walsh has been our go to guy. And we love him in a red suit with a white trim.. .no retirement from that... not allowed! Altona-Village Traders Association

08.01.2022 As you can see lots of joy at latitude!!! So it's time for the team to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and thank you all for being so supportive of our young people. We have had extraordinary acts of kindness this year that has really blown us away and kept us going in the toughest of times. Please be mindful that no matter how hard you think you have it there is sure to be some one worse off than you. So whenever you can give someone a smile please do, it's incredible what a smile can do! So as we go to share some tinsel with our tribes we are ever so thankful to be part of yours. Merry Christmas to you all.

08.01.2022 SHOUT OUT: As the world goes crazy our pantry empties!!! We have an abundance of BEANS but very little else. So if you have an extra bag of pasta, rice, pasta sauce, long life milk etc lying around our door is open!!! Our young people are struggling, its not an easy time for anyone however our young people have less options than most. The good news is we are good for toilet paper!!!!... Please Note: Donations can only be accepted at Latitude Altona Latitude - Flemington currently closed....we are still working in Moonee Valley just not at our office in Flemington due to the closure to the public of the Flemington Community Centre.

08.01.2022 Yeah okay the photo is a bit weird but the content was GOLD!!! Meals on Wheels came to Latitude! Thanks to the generosity of Hobsons Bay City Council! The story: An organized staff lunch pre-lock down days supporting local restaurant Lion Dance Chinese Restaurant Williamstown could not go ahead so rather than cancel the order Latitude received freshly prepared noodle boxes! We got to deliver the hot noodles meals on wheels style to our young people....they kinda thought it ...was Christmas again...SOOOO much joy!!! And thats what we need to do people, support our local business its tough for everyone but they need us now. As for us, well it brightened our day to be spreading such joy. We have truly felt the full support of our amazing community. Do you feel a bit better now? Sure do! See more

06.01.2022 It's not why we do it but how lovely. We have been doing a LOT of work with people who may not be young in years as a response to the pandemic...we have been walking a very different road as we have supported many people well over the age of 25. We received this today from a lovely gentleman who thankfully is now out of the Homelessness system. Really warms our heart. We just had to share. It's so good when we get it right!

05.01.2022 After such a funny old year it was absolute magic to share some joy with our young people. Yet again our super Elf Androulla created memories for our little people, the big ones did ok too. And yes once more pandemic or no pandemic Santa found us, such a trooper, and huge shout out to Jacoub who provided the fab transport when the reindeers pulled out....we kinda liked the sound of Jacoubs wheels over the whine of the reindeers!!! Thanks to Working for Victoria and CHP Kate has come to join us to work with the very many people in hotel accommodation as a response to COVID19. The hotel accommodation can't last forever so we are very busily working with people to find long term stable accommodation...tricky business when we know there's just not enough houses!!!! Its a double whammy of goodness. The support from our Rotaries has just been extraordinary particularly given they have not been able to do their usual fundraising events. We as a community owe them big time...as soon as those sausages start to sizzle or whenever you have the opportunity to support them with a shiny $ or two please do because when it hits the fan....they are there...yep right there making sure that those who have little are not left behind.
