23.01.2022 The Club hosted RSL Day today. Thank you to all the volunteers who assisted, from the groundsmen who prepared the greens, to the barman for the day, to the ladies who provided morning tea and lunch and the RSL staff who ran the competition. Good to see everyone enjoying their day.



22.01.2022 All teams played away today in the Ladies Thursday pennant and all had a win. Division 1 visited the Mountaineers at Sheffield and came away with a win 73-47. Janenne Thompson won by 29 shots and Erin Moore by 8 shots. Division 3 went down to Burnie and came home with 12 points and a good win 78-47.... Jenni Wescombe won by 7, Shirley Siely by 15 and Alice Gaffney by 9. Division 4 Blue had 2 drawn games and a 2 shot win against the Devonport Country Club 54-52. Brenda Ritchie won by 2 shots and Marlene McCullagh and Kaye Lamprey both played a draw. Red had a win against South Burnie 62-53. Gail Stevens was 13 shots up and Shirley Hedditch had a 11 shot win.

21.01.2022 Busy day today with Latrobe hosting Veterans Day. The greens looked to be running well thanks to Graeme, Steve and the other volunteers. Thank you to Kaye and the ladies in the kitchen who had over 100 meals to prepare and serve and also thank you to Coke and his helpers for their organisation and to Jill and Sue behind the bar. A big thank you to ALL our volunteers as they help to make our Club such a successful Club both on and off the green.

19.01.2022 Copy of post from Lyn Thurley re Junior pairs: Our North West Junior Pairs are scheduled to take place at the Ulverstone Bowls Club on Sunday 7th February. They will be run as follows;... This event is open to all North West Juniors. Nominations for the pairs will close Monday 1st February with all nominations to be sent to Lyn Thurley. If you don't have a pairs partner & still wish to play, please send through your nomination & we will do our best to place you in a pairs team. All sectional games will be 3 bowl pairs & 12 ends. The finals will be 3 bowl pairs & 15 ends. Depending on how many we get is to how many sections we will need. If we don't get enough for sectional pairs, it will be then held as knock out pairs at 10 ends with 3 bowls. Games will commence at 9am so we can get it all done on the day. There will be food available for the juniors for lunch & that will be held after the 2nd game.



19.01.2022 Darren Hawkins and Darren Silvey have been very busy obtaining sponsorship for the Club and have been contacting local businesses who have been very generous. Thank you to our major sponsors Floorworld and Tasfreight and to all our other sponsors for your support. Today saw the installation by Jamie and Luke from DSigns (one of our sponsors) of a sponsors board above the bar with our sponsors names proudly displayed.

18.01.2022 Change of date - coaching session Barry Magnus would like to advise that the coaching session set down for members for the last Sunday of the month has been moved to Sunday, 6th December. This is due to Barry's commitment with the Junior State Wide Competition.

16.01.2022 Good luck to Ethan Lamprey, Olava Magnus and Jordyn Aitken and all the representatives in the Junior SWC which was to be played at Longford but has been transferred indoors to Kings Meadows due to the weather conditions. Play well team.

13.01.2022 Players Tea The next players tea will be on Thursday, the 10th December. Menu:... Roast Lamb Spaghetti Bolognese Chicken Schnitzel, chips and coleslaw and Christmas Puddiing $15.00 Children: Chicken nuggets and chips and Ice cream $6.00 All welcome.

13.01.2022 It was all go at the Club this morning with work going on outside as well as inside. Outside there was Steve and Phillip rolling the greens and tidying up and Huffy mowing all the surrounds. On the other side of the building the plumbers were rectifying a problem with the pipes.... Inside Jill was busy re-stocking the fridges and counting the takings from another good night over the bar. Wayne was up the ladder painting the surrounds of the newly installed sponsors board over the bar area. Yesterday Ian was trying to fix the closer on the ladies toilet door. Thank you one and all for all the work that goes on around the Club.

If you are after a turducken for Christmas be sure to order early as we will have to cut orders off as we only have a set amount available Please order in store or over the phone, no orders taken over Facebook as we don't receive all notifications and we don't want anyone to miss out



09.01.2022 The home teams were the only winners today in the Saturday Open Pennant. Premier League were home to Port Sorell and won 80-65, two rink wins, Anthony Johns up by 18 and Tim Douce won by 24. Division 1 travelled to Port Sorell and despite Barry Magnus winning by 17 shots lost 75-81.... Division 3 were home to Port Sorell and had a comfortable win 100-57. Robert Sims won by 26, Damian Gallagher by 12, Michael Adams by 5 and Kevan Gaffney had a drawn game. The news was not so good for the Division 5 teams. Red played at Ulverstone and were defeated 45-70. Ralph Woolley won by 7 on his rink. Blue travelled to Port Sorell and lost by 5 shots 63-68. Danny Knott had a rink win by 5 shots.

I have just completed the final draw for the above after being notified that 3 Clubs in B Grade will not be fielding teams this year. This has caused more BYES. Below I have set out the BYES. Please be aware that all Players need to be there for Lunch which is catered for at $12.00 each. Also if they wish to have a few ENDS of Bowls, be there a little earlier and come and see M.C. for a suitable rink. Lunch is usually served approx. 12pm. 07.01.2022 Four out of five divisions had wins today in the Saturday Open pennant. Premier League travelled to Ulverstone and won 76-60. They had three rink wins, Garry Courtney up by 11, Leon Webb by 6 and Tim Douce by 5. Division 1 played at home and defeated Ulverstone 86-75. Erin Moore and Wayne Jaffray both won by 8 shots and Michael Aherne by 14.... Division 3 also home to Ulverstone, won 75-67. Kevan Gaffney won by 9 shots and Damian Gallagher was up by 6. Latrobe Red lost by 5 shots to Penguin at home 49-54. Leroi Court won by 8 shots and Ralph Woolley by 1. Latrobe Blue had an away win over the Devonport Country Club 68-42. Danny Knott won by 18, Bill Radford by 9 and Stuart Ritchie was unlucky to go down by 1 shot.

04.01.2022 Today's results in the Ladies Thursday Pennant saw wins to 3 of our teams. Division 1 were home to Smithton and had big wins on two rinks winning 116-36. Erin Moore won by a massive 62 shots and Shiron Beavis by 28. Division 3 were home to Port Sorell and won on 2 rinks 64-44. Alice Gaffney up by 13 and Shirley Siely by 14.... Division 4 Blue travelled to South Burnie but were defeated 51-68. Ashley Cowburn had a rink win in her first game for sometime - up by 4 shots. Division 3 Red played away at the Devonport Country Club and had a good win 80-47. Rink winners were Gail Stephens up by 27 and Nancy Maney by 20.

03.01.2022 Busy day tomorrow with 3 teams at home and a Trivia Night in the evening. Division 1 are home to Burnie and our Division 5 teams play each other. Premier League and Division 3 travel along the coast to play Burnie. The trivia night will kick of at 7.00 pm with a 7.30 start. Get your team of 6 together and come down for a fun night.

02.01.2022 It was a cold, showery, windy start to the re-commencement of the Open Saturday Pennant today. Tassie weather at its best.... with mixed results. Premier League and Division 3 travelled to South Burnie. It was an exciting end in Premier League with Anthony Johns needing to draw for a third shot to get the overall win the but unfortunately missed and the game ended up a draw 73-73. Tim Douce won by 12 shots and Anthony won by 7. Division 3 went down to South Burnie by 9 sho...ts 79-88 but with 2 rink wins gained 4 points. Kevan Gaffney won by 11 shots and Damian Gallagher by 7. The home sides all had wins. Division 1 defeated South Burnie 89-67. Barry Magnus won by 9 shots and Michael Aherne by 20 shots. Division 5 Red had a good win over Devonport Country Club 71-46. Gail Stephens won by 21 shots and Ian Carey by 14 shots. Division 5 Blue defeated Penguin by 3 shots 63-60. Grant Radford, in his first game as skip, won by 3 shots and his father Bill won by 4.

02.01.2022 Tonight after the games saw members relaxing in the Clubrooms. It was great to see some of the younger brigade, who have played previously with Latrobe, having a chat and a beer. As well, some of our members were spotted having a take-away from one of our sponsors Thai Imperial. Tomorrow we wish our B Grade team all the best when they play in the semi-final of the BNW coastal fours in Ulverstone. Play well Damian, Kevan, Selwyn and Robert.
