25.01.2022 ** UPDATE ** phones are back in Traralgon Apologies as we are currently having some issues with our phones in Traralgon If you have an emergency please come straight to the clinic. ... We hope to have the issue resolved as soon as possible. We will update this post when we have them back up and running.
24.01.2022 Some good examples here. Its very hard sometimes to give in to those loving eyes watching you as you eat. The important thing to remember is everything in moderation, if your pet is getting a couple of treats then reduce their amount of dinner/ breakfast to accommodate this. Weight loss in obese pets can have huge benefits! Including less strain on their joints and organs and increase your pets quality of life and longevity overall.... Our friendly staff are more than happy to give advice and help you and your pet through different methods to help your pet achieve their weight goal! There are a few diet foods available which can help tremendously! And they are super easy to use!

22.01.2022 So, 10 days short of a year since the great Hoyle St fire of 2019, were moving back into our phoenix clinic today! We look forward to welcoming our Morwell clients with an increase in hours and a lovely new clinic to enjoy!
22.01.2022 Happy new financial year everyone! Were sure all our pets are really excited about this date! An important change to microchipping requirements has been introduced - details & useful links can found on our website. Microchipping is an important legal requirement of animal ownership. If you purchase a young animal, it is important to ensure that the ownership details are updated on the relevant register. The breeder should supply this information. If this is not available - ...try checking https://car.com.au/ or http://petaddress.com.au/ Please note that from July 1 2020, to microchip an animal born after this date - we are required to record a source number. If you wish to sell puppies or kittens, you can obtain a source number here - https://per.animalwelfare.vic.gov.au/ Please note also, that we are legally required to verify that the microchip & owner records match, prior to desexing any animal. If you have not updated your details on the microchip register, it may delay the desexing procedure.

18.01.2022 Tomorrow will be a hotter day than we are used to - remember the precautions you need to take for your pets - shade, plenty, water, move the little ones (guinea pigs, rabbits etc) indoors perhaps. If you haven't already, start planning how you will deal with the super hot days of summer. Share some 'hot' tips if you have them.....

16.01.2022 Due to the current government guidelines, coming into play at midnight tonight, we will require everyone entering our clinic to wear a face mask. You may have already noticed majority of our staff wearing masks. As of tomorrow ALL of our staff will be required to wear a mask while working at all times. Please be aware we are still restricting clients into our consulting rooms, a vet and nurse will assess your pet and the veterinarian will discuss findings with you, and a ma...ximum of 4 people in our Traralgon waiting room (1 in our Morwell waiting room). We can also still offer phone and zoom consultations to those who are unwell and unable to get into the clinic. We currently have a separate entry and exit door and strongly encourage using our easily accessible handsanitizer on entry. Please continue to practice social distancing, particularly with our staff. We Thankyou for your understanding and co operation through these challenging and changing times. Help us stay safe so we can continue to care for your pets. ** please note do not follow the way Bailey is demonstrating wearing a mask**

08.01.2022 Question for our clients - we have an option to organise direct delivery of foods and pet care products (non prescription) to your door. You place the order with us, the product arrives with you - you dont lift another finger or leave your house. There would be extra costs (not from the practice but from the supplier & the delivery system) - around $15 for non food and $20 for food. Would you use this if available?

06.01.2022 Awesome work by Victoria in bringing Covid under control!! We are still required to maintain some Covid precautions, so please continue to be thoughtful and helpful, as the vast majority of our clients have been throughout this challenging period. - Numbers are still limited within businesses - so please continue with one person per pet as much as possible... - If you are at all unwell - please stay home and get tested. If your pet needs care at this time, please ring to discuss the options. - Please continue using masks and hand sanitiser. - Some of our vets are comfortable with taking clients into consult rooms, some have personal reasons for not doing this all the time. Please respect their individual choices. - If you are concerned about not being with your pet for examination and treatment, please discuss this with the staff when making your appointment. We will do our best to place you with a vet who is comfortable to include you. - Within consultation rooms, it is still very important to maintain social distance as much as possible. Please respect this. Thank you to all our clients for your co-operation & support.
06.01.2022 That afternoon western sun in the Morwell reception area............
06.01.2022 Are your pets this helpful?!
05.01.2022 Fireworks and pets Does your pet stress during fireworks? Do you have a plan set for New Years? ... Here are some tips to help your pets be safe and settled around this time- - if possible take your dog for a long walk or a big day out to help exhaust them so they have less energy to get excited or stressed during the fireworks - if you are able to, leave your pet inside during the fireworks time be sure to leave a radio or tv on to help block out the noise - close curtains and blinds and if possible leave lights on to make the flashing lights outside less obvious -try not to make a big fuss over your pet close to the time, instead using a normal routine and manner can help - during the time you can try playing your pets favorite game to help distract them and reward them for calm behavior - it’s important to make sure your pet cannot escape outside of your property during fireworks, many pets get frightened and take off, causing them to be lost and run in front of cars etc. If you know your pet is scared of fireworks or you are unsure, it’s best to keep them safe inside for the night. There are also natural products, medications, thundershirts etc that may aid your pet during thunderstorms/ fireworks etc. however it is recommended you trail these products prior to the event happening to find which one is right for your pet! Have a happy and safe New Years!! We look forward to seeing you and your pets in 2021
05.01.2022 Proposed new logo - courtesy of our new vet!!
05.01.2022 To mask or not to mask? We all know that we need to wear masks if we cannot distance adequately. One issue we face is that some dogs are quite freaked out by people in masks. This suggests that perhaps dogs read mouths more than they read eyes. What have you experienced?
05.01.2022 Little Alfie could not be any more snuggly. Our nurse Michelle did not want to give him back.
05.01.2022 Big Thankyou to Latrobe vet Amanda Rhodes-Andrew and Anne Rhodes-Andrew for taking time out of your Sunday - on such short notice - to check over, microchip and ear tag the fire impacted, now raised and rehabilitated, Mallacoota koala so that they can go home
04.01.2022 Winston says Smile! Its the weekend!
04.01.2022 Snakes are well and truly out and about and we have already treated a few cases at our clinic in the past couple of months, including one today! How can owners and pets reduce the risk of an encounter with a snake? Simple things like keeping the backyard tidy, keeping the lawn mowed nice and short will all make sure there are less places for them to hide around the house. Of course if you see a snake-leave it alone as it is likely just passing through. Otherwise call your lo...cal snake catcher. What are the signs I will notice if my Dog does get bitten by a snake? Snake bite signs can differ from every animal which can make it hard to diagnose. The amount of venom injected and the location of the bite can also influence how the animal is affected. Many animals will initially vomit after envenomation, then they will drool saliva excessively. Some then appear to recover for a short period. This will progress to ataxia (unsteady on feet), lethargy, depression, dilated pupils, collapse, production of dark red urine and if untreated, it can lead to death. How is a snake bite treated? First the snake bite is confirmed by some specific in clinic blood testing. Then anti-venom, IV fluids and intensive care is administered. Often the animal will be in hospital on IV fluids for several days to help prevent long term kidney disease. If you suspect your animal has been bitten by a snake and/or is showing any of the above signs then bring them to a veterinary clinic for assessment immediately. Always ring to let the vets know you are coming, so they can be prepared to treat as quickly as possible.
04.01.2022 And here we see Dr Kate Haines trying hard to do some work while accompanied by Maggie, who was waiting for her blood results. Yes this is what happens behinds there scenes of our covid protocol! Our staff are most definitely getting extra cuddles out the back!
03.01.2022 Latrobe Veterinary Group is delighted to welcome Dr Kate Baggeley to our veterinary team next week - she is pictured below with Gizmo. Many locals will already have met Kate as she has worked locally for many years. We will have 2 Kates and a Kay in our veterinary team - no doubt there will be confusion at times! We look forward to being able to offer more consultation times, and expanding some other services. Welcome Kate B!
02.01.2022 This little one is Luna Luna rushed into the clinic after her mum was hit by a car, she came in with some head trauma and a fractured toe. She is being closely monitored and is doing amazingly at Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter! We can’t wait until she is recovered and big enough to be returned to the wild!
02.01.2022 Who remembers this?
01.01.2022 Covid update - One person per pet - please. If you are bringing your pet to either clinic, or picking up something for them - please, only one person to enter the clinic. The exception is when you have multiple animals to manage or another significant reason requiring multiple people. We are required to maintain adequate social distance and control client numbers in our reception areas - one person per visit makes this much easier, and we greatly appreciate it. And of course, the usual - mask, sanitise on entry, dont come if you are sick, in lockdown or awaiting results, and please, maintain distance. Thank you everyone.
