23.01.2022 La Trobe Education student, Sarah Valente, completed Year 12 in 2019 and has just finished her first year of the Bachelor of Education (Primary). Sarah was accepted into our Regional Benefits Program, due to her high achieving ATAR. She shares her top three tips for Year 12s, heading into their final exams. Tag a Year 12! Tip 1 Be kind to yourself in the lead up and through the exam period. Remember to take time for yourself to get in a positive mindset before sittin...g for your exams. Some things I did were eating well, getting a good sleep, and doing things that make me happy and calm in my breaks. I think the most important thing is to put in the effort and try your best, because that is the only thing you can ever ask of yourself. Tip 2 Plan ahead and stick to a schedule. Planning ahead is so important because it gives you the best opportunity for success, but also reduces last minute cramming and overworking. In relation to exams, the way I suggest planning ahead would be to take notes, complete practice questions, and revise content every day or a couple times every week. This ensures that when the exam date looms closer, you only need to revise, refresh and practice your knowledge and skills. Tip 3 Don’t be too hard on yourself. Awaiting Year 12 results can create anxiety for most people, but my biggest advice would be to give your schooling your best effort for the remainder of Year 12 because that way you know that no matter what your results are, you did your absolute best. Also, something else to remember is to not base your success and worth off one number or grade. No matter your result, it is a huge achievement to complete your senior year and that on its own is something to be proud of. So finally, stay positive because there are so many ways to achieve your dreams, even if you don’t get the result you hoped for.
