11.01.2022 To coincide with the International Rose Garden Festival Morwell's virtual program, Latrobe Regional Gallery asked local writers Karen Howie Casey, Joseph Lis, Yakub Ogunsina, Alanah Andrews, Catherine Webb, Jessica Obersby, Jeanette Waight Severs, and Patricia Flores to submit poems in response to several varieties of roses that are featured in the Morwell Centenary Rose Garden. The selected roses featured in these poems include the Mutabilis, Olde Fragrance, Paul Cézanne, Soaring Spirits, Ingrid Bergman, Darcey Bussell, Pierre de Ronsard, Blueberry Hill, Victoria Gold, and the Daydream Rose. Clock In Mark Hooper featuring Steve Schulz on percussion and Harry McCullough on visuals. An experimental live and improvised audio visual performance, using found objects, field recordings, drones, motor rhythm percussion and generative live video. Inspired by the industrial textures and soundscapes of the Latrobe Valley, Mark, Steve and Harry explore the nature of sound and industrial aesthetics, drawing the audience into the realm of the industrial and ‘the machine’, whilst also reflecting upon the mechanisms of electricity and labour that underpin modern society. Mark Hooper Mark is a sound designer, sound editor, musician and experimental video artist. In recent years, Mark has drawn upon his extensive experience with percussion, and sound composition, to collaborate with local and international artists on films, animations, documentaries and digital works.
