21.01.2022 Our 2017-18 season has commenced and our teams are gradually building but we would love it if any of our past members would like to fill in for a game or two when players are away. We have had a few players do this and they enjoyed not having to commit on a week to week basis but just playing a few games and slowly getting back into the game. If you are keen for a game or two please just PM us :)

17.01.2022 The Board of Softball Tasmania, Michelle Lewis, Sheryl Burnie (President) and Brenda Hanlon, for this season are supporting Latrobe & Districts Softball Association in a mentor and leadership role, as the Association works to provide a structured season of games and clinics and we invite you to participate along with other L&DSA members to be part of the pathway of moving forward. This season all ST effort will be focused on building membership numbers and providing those mem...bers with a welcoming and safe place to play Softball and socialise before and after game This season all members will be registered with L&DSA and from there each week teams will be selected from those attending, with no teams the same. Numbers will also determine the type of games being played, be it Social 7, 5 a side etc and rules and game styles can be worked out on the day After Christmas depending on numbers there maybe the opportunity for teams to be formed and a set in concrete roster established but this will all depend on numbers. The seasons roster will commence on Saturday 10th November, 2018 with juniors at 11.00am and seniors at 1.00pm Michelle has organised that every 2nd week, on a Sunday, L&DSA members will have the opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge when Jon Keen who plays in Ulverstone & Launceston presents a clinic in all aspects of Softball Jon has a very sound knowledge of Softball and has a tremendous amount of experience. Jon will be assisted by his daughter Hollie who has been a Tasmanian Softball representative in U16, U17 & U19 and was selected as a member of the Australian U19 Womens squad and together with Board member Nancy Viviani are excited to be able to share their Softball knowledge with member of L&DSA. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself (Michelle) of any of the other two board members mentioned above via Facebook. Thank you and we look forward to a successful season. 16.01.2022 24-11-18 Legends v Panthers An awesome display of skills and sportsmanship was on show with young and old(ish) players doing a fantastic job playing and assisting teammates and opponents. Home runs were the highlight of the day with Joel Lowery finishing with 3, Hayley Copeland and Shelley Dodd with 1 each and Jack Wheeler hitting a massive Grand Slam to top the day.... Panthers player Hayley Copeland shone with the bat all game and again on the field taking an awesome catch stopping Jack from scoring a 2nd home run. Teammate Dalene Smith had a good day on the pitchers plate while sharing her softball knowledge with both teams. Brianna Roberts did a wonderful job catching to Dalene before having a turn at 3rd base where she kept up her good fielding. First time player Hayley Shine showed she is a player to watch in the future improving immensely throughout the game. Getting stronger with every bat and showing courage on the field all with a huge contagious smile, Hayley was an asset to the Panthers team. Legend teammates Jack (pitcher) and Joel (catcher) showed some awesome teamwork keeping the Panthers run rate low for the first of the game. With the teenagers tiring making a change in the pitcher, catcher combination the Panthers came back hard and strong bringing many runs across home plate. It was wonderful to see youngster Rosie Wheeler back out on the diamond after a couple of years away from the game. Rosie batted consistently well all game for the Legends giving her all in batting and base running under the watchful eye of big brother Jack. Another youngster Prue Lowery pulled on a Legends top alongside her grandmother Chris and big brother Joel with younger brother Luke being the team mascot. Prues batting, base running and fielding was absolutely brilliant for a child so young with her courage going for the ball 2nd to none. Chris Lowery and Clair Wheeler Led the way for the Legends never missing a beat in their fielding and batting showing their younguns how to play the game we all love. Kat Bush, Tammy Roberts, Diana Pursell and James Grey all combined well for the Panthers assisting their team to match the batting and fielding of the Legends. In a fitting end to the day the final score being 15 runs all, with the game ending in a draw. . On behalf of everyone who played we would like to give a huge thank you to Nancy Viviana from Burnie for coming along umpiring and sharing her softball knowledge assisting everyone throughout the game. Very Much Appreciated. . The teams will be back out on the diamond next Saturday with new players very welcome to come along.
