15.01.2022 A new announcement: COVID-19: Step 2 restriction update for students 27/09/2020 The Premier has announced that metro Melbourne will move to Step 2 on the roadmap to ‘COVID normal’, effective 11:59pm on Sunday 27 September. For adult education settings (which includes universities), Step 2 still equates to ‘heavy restrictions’ including: Work and study from home where you can.... Strict controls on students approved to attend campus or undertake placement or fieldwork activities. University students in their final year of study who would not graduate by the end of January 2021 (i.e. even with extended delivery into summer) will be able to attend on-site for learning and assessment and/or work placements where necessary to complete their qualifications. Further information about the COVID-safe resumption of these activities will be provided directly to affected staff and students as soon as possible. Other notable changes include: Everyone will now be required to wear a fitted face mask, covering the nose and mouth (unless medical exemption applies). Scarves, bandannas and face shields on their own will no longer be permitted. The curfew will be lifted from 5am Monday 28 September but the fine for unlawful gatherings is to be increased. Regional Victoria Regional Victoria remains at Step 3. For the university this means activities remain ‘restricted’ and that staff and students must continue to work and study from home and only attend on-site where approved for hands-on, skills-based learning. For more information on the DHHS website. Health and Wellbeing The University has a range of services to help you if you are feeling anxious, worried or need some support. Please connect with Ask La Trobe and/or your course coordinator for more details.

09.01.2022 SSA team would like to remind all of us that today on this day... 19 years ago the whole World had changed and no matter where we were or what we were doing at the time will be remembered by many forever. '246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. ...8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. And many missing people.. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. In memory of the day, the lost people and service animals...' As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter and never take one second of your life for granted as may not know what's behind the corner...so live in the moment, be true to yourself, be kind to others and yourself in order to be free and be at peace with the World. #wewillneverforget

07.01.2022 NAIDOC week and this years theme of Always Was, Always Will be resonates with the Yorta Yorta people as much now as it has since time immemorial. In 2020, As ...Sovereign people of our Custodial Lands Yorta Yorta people have not ceded our Sovereignty. YYNAC continues to advocate for the rights of Yorta Yorta peoples as the custodians of our lands to care for and govern affairs relating to our Lands, Waters, Air, and Rights. We will continue to build relationships that acknowledge this as our Ancestors did before us as we seek an Empowered , Self Determined way forward for Yorta Yorta Land, Water, Air , and People. 04.01.2022 Today Australia marks the Remembrance Day! It's a Poppy Day! Let us remember all the man, woman and children that have lost their life during that time... and let us also remember, all the animals that had served alongside many soldiers and were part of a team that have saved many on the front line and at the end have sacrificed themselves for a brighter and possible future... Lest we forget! "Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since th...e end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Following a tradition inaugurated by King George V in 1919, the day is also marked by war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of First World War on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month", in accordance with the armistice signed by representatives of Germany and the Entente between 5:12 and 5:20 that morning. The First World War officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919". Retrieved from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day"
