25.01.2022 We have created an alliance with this Radio Station to deliver Laughter Sessions to those who are suffering in their relationships at present. A similar thing will be done from the proceeds of our 2020 Conference to those in regional areas who require some healing https://www.facebook.com/899TheLight/posts/3199177870119656?notif_id=1599080453
25.01.2022 I have a paid opportunity for a face to face laughter workshop in Launceston in October. Does anyone know of anyone who is active in that region?
25.01.2022 There will be no newsletter this month but our monthly Zoom meeting will go ahead this Thursday night from 7.30pm to 8.30pm AEDT. Everyone is welcome https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
25.01.2022 I received a simple and yet disturbing email from someone recently. It said "Hi I live in South Australia, Salisbury North, is there laughter yoga near me, I have depression and am socially isolated, please help". There will be many more people like this so this shows the importance of getting as many face to face clubs up and running again. In their absence people can always access our On line resource that we have http://laughteryoga-australia.org/skype-laughter-club/
23.01.2022 Apartments selling quickly in Port Douglas. Who'd like to join me?
23.01.2022 A survey released by Zoom today showed that a high percentage of businesses will be embracing a hybrid model from here on. This means that people who do commercial Laughter Sessions will have to embrace the concept of presenting on Zoom or Skype Or Teams etc Welcome to the new world.
23.01.2022 I received an email this week as follows..."I am reaching out to you as you are an inspiration to me. I love what you have done with laughter yoga in Australia and I aspire to do the same on this side of the world. Would you be willing to share your knowledge and experience with me? I would be so grateful to you for any insights or advice you can offer in getting started." The world is watching what we are doing here in OZ. Keep up the good work folks!
22.01.2022 The body can't differentiate between real and fake/simulated/not real/pretend laughter, but the brain/mind can. This is often misreported and has people confused as to why we do, what we do, the way that we do it. Laughter Yoga needs to be done for between 15 and 30 minutes, to override the conscious mind, in order to allow the laughter to flow more freely from the core/belly.
22.01.2022 Following on from yesterdays Post regarding a real or not real smile, here is the supporting Research Study they were referring to.
20.01.2022 What a GRRREAT way to start the week by being introduced to one of our Laughter Conference presenters. This one claims that you life will be transformed. Nice one Diana Marshall. http://laughterwellbeing.org
20.01.2022 Tuesday night Online Laughter Club is from 6pm to 7pm AEST. Everyone is welcome and here is the link. https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
20.01.2022 The National Press Club address yesterday focussed on Mental Wealth, and not health. I will discuss this more fully, along with the 2020 Conference details, tonight at 7.30pm AEST at our monthly Zoom catchup https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
19.01.2022 My thanks to those who joined us on the LYOZ Monthly Zoom chat last night. Topics covered were 1. 2020 Laughter Conference 2. Getting prepared for the Mental Wealth wave (tsunami) that's coming our way 3. Developing strategic alliances (eg The Light) 4. Working with Councils and in particular approaching your local library to offer online Laughter Sessions.
19.01.2022 The Tuesday night online Laughter Club happens from 6pm to 7pm AEDT tonight and everyone is welcome https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
19.01.2022 A big shout out to a recently trained Laughter Leader who wanted to take laughter to their local regional community. It appears as though this is happening, and in conjunction with the local council. Well done Nerelie Teese.
19.01.2022 So I was chatting to the Executive Officer of the Australian College of Health Services Management yesterday and they said "The reason we have contacted you is that I did a Laughter Session with you at the Royal Melbourne Hospital just over 12 years ago and was wondering if you're still doing it and if you could do a session for our interns?" This highlights the importance of doing a GRRREAT session as people will never forget it...and you.
19.01.2022 When someone came to my training last week, they said they found out about LY through their daughter who had just signed up for laughter training in Toronto Canada with Linda Leclerc (who has been a friend of mine for over a decade). This reminds us that we are working at an international level and are all connected.
18.01.2022 The Language of Laughter will be presented and explained at our upcoming Laughter Conference. NB The Early Bird Special finishes next week http://laughterwellbeing.org
18.01.2022 Whenever you are presenting or being interviewed always refer to a website even if just by name. This gives you the ability to measure your reach and impact, and of course build awareness and leads for commercial work for us all.
18.01.2022 As reported on National Radio and TV earlier this week, some paracetamols were seen to be ineffective it treating pain, at best being a placebo. Is laughter part placebo? Absolutely! This is why it's important that we keep on telling people of the benefits of Laughter Yoga which is sustained intentional laughter. If they believe it then it works. http://laughteryoga-australia.org/benefits-of-laughter-yoga/
16.01.2022 Another reason to be excited about attending our upcoming Laughter Conference on the 23rd October http://laughterwellbeing.org
15.01.2022 That unsettling experience when you are booked to do a 1 hour Corporate Session for 100 people and you arrive and are told "We can't do it indoors as we misunderstood the COVID restrictions from the venue and are running late. Can you do it outdoors without a microphone and still finish on time?" NB My watch shows that we are already 38 minutes past the start time and still nobody was there. LY sends us daily challenges.
15.01.2022 Tonight's Online Laughter Session is from 6pm to 7pm AEST and here is the link to use and everyone is welcome https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333 A reminer that these run every day and a full list can be found at http://laughteryoga-australia.org/skype-laughter-club/

14.01.2022 A health professional who is doing the Laughter Leader Training today is a part of the Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons Team. This means that they are going beyond Mental and Physical. Interesting and positive for us as laughter works in all of these areas.
13.01.2022 Come along to the longest consecutively running Laughter Conference and listen to Professor Anne Williams who will explain the importance of Laughter Yoga to our front line health professionals http://laughterwellbeing.org
13.01.2022 A very Merry Xmas to you all. LYOZ is well positioned and ready to take on the challenges that will face the community in 2021. Remember that we are "Your Laughline for Mental Wealth for 2021" and "We are a recognised National Social Prescription Provider, for emotional, mental, physical and social health, as well as pain management." Spread the word!
13.01.2022 An opportunity has come up to host our Wednesday Online Laughter Club. If you're a certified leader and would like to be considered then let me know. You can select your own time. It's really important that we continue to offer this daily service for now.
13.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone. While it is normal to reflect back on the trials of 2020. make sure that you balance it out by looking forward to 2021 and the work that we have to do in helping the community with some fun and positivity.
12.01.2022 Here's a sample of the diversity and quality of the speakers who will be presenting at our Conference on the 23rd October http://laughterwellbeing.org
11.01.2022 Happy October everyone. Due to an unforeseen circumstance, tonight's Zoom Meeting will be postponed until next week. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
10.01.2022 Here's another reason to be excited about joining us at our 2020 Laughter Conference on the 23rd October http://laughterwellbeing.org
10.01.2022 For those of you looking for games, ice breakers, exercises and activities that can suit a Laughter Session, Commercial Workshop, or just for family and friends fun this is worth a look. There is a free 7 day trial also https://softskillgames.com
09.01.2022 Last week we received an enquiry from one of the BIG 5 technology companies in the world to present LY at their upcoming Asian Pacific Conference. The interview process with the event organiser yesterday from Dublin was extensive. When I asked "why so many questions", they said that we are an Urban Legend. People know about us, but are not really sure about exactly what we do. Good feedback. Let's keep clear not just about who we are but what we do. Oh and we got the job.
08.01.2022 Our Monthly Zoom Meeting is tonight from 7.30pm to 8.30pm AEDT. Come and join us and share ideas for 2021 https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
08.01.2022 We have another paid opportunity in Tassie this time in Hobart. Does anyone know a qualified person who could do this?
08.01.2022 As Peter's Laughter Club is going back to in person, there is an opportunity for a suitably qualified Laughter Leader to conduct the Tuesday online laughter club. If you're interested then let me know.
07.01.2022 A Laughter Session can be delivered as a 5 to 10 minute Ice Breaker, a 15 to 20 minute general awareness session, a 30 to 45 minute mini experience, or a 1 to 1.5 hour workshop. All of this, and much much more is covered in our Laughter Yoga Business Training http://laughteryoga-australia.org/laughter-yoga-training-b/
07.01.2022 This article identifies the link between "forcing a smile" and a real one. This is the same as the LY philosophy of the body not knowing the difference between real and not real laughter. While using the pen, make sure it is placed as far back in the mouth as possible, removed, and the facial expression held for at least 30 seconds. And then laugh. Try it now. It works.
07.01.2022 Happy World Smile Day everyone. Remember that laugh begins with a smile. Changing the face changes the brain in a positive way.
07.01.2022 In case you missed it in the Monthly Newsletter, a Melbourne University Study just released showed that people who were impacted by the 2009 bushfires were experiencing mental illness at twice the expected rate ten years after the event. COVID is much bigger than this. For this reason it's important to identify how laughter can have a positive impact on mental health. http://laughteryoga-australia.org/benefits-of-laughter-yoga/
07.01.2022 As today is RUOK Day, the idea is to ask someone if they are OK? OR you can do what I did yesterday, and reached out to someone (who I knew was not OK) and invited them to join me at one of our weekly laughter sessions. My thank to those 7 people who have been providing this service to LYOZ for the last 6 months. http://laughteryoga-australia.org/skype-laughter-club/
07.01.2022 If you laugh too hard from your belly you can develop "humoroids". So says a new book on laughter about to be released from one of our own. Standby for more details and the launch date.
06.01.2022 The bone that connects your shoulder to the elbow is called the humerus. This adds meaning to the exercise where we touch elbows and laugh. If you place your fists on your throat as you do it, it moves the lymph in your throat lymph nodes. NB This can be done online also.
06.01.2022 I just completed my first "in person" commercial workshop in 13 months and here's how it looked. Day 1. 6pm to 8pm. Travel from regional Victoria to Melbourne overnight accommodation. Day 2. 8.30am to 3pm. Travel by bus plane and then car to remote town location. Day 3. 8.30am travel to site venue. 10.30 am to 12noon conduct work shop. 1pm to 9.30pm travel by car, plane, and then bus to Melbourne overnight accommodation. Day 4. 9am to 11am travel back home to regional Victoria.
05.01.2022 The area in front of and behind the lens of the eye is called humor. Is this why it helps to make eye contact when we laugh?
05.01.2022 I never get up before 7am and I never ring into Talk Back Radio. But last Monday I did, and I did. They'e just contacted me and asked if they can interview me next week. Your next opportunity is just around the corner, if you're awake and active that is ha ha ha My bit starts from the 41.30minute mark https://www.abc.net.au//progr/breakfast/breakfast/12640760
04.01.2022 The Tuesday night Online Laughter Session is on tonight from 6pm to 7pm AEST and everyone is invited https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
04.01.2022 Following the Post on the 21st January about someone who was trained and then contacted the local Community Centre straight away to begin a Laughter Club. I received an email the day after saying "I've now been asked to do a talk and a session of Laughter Yoga for Healthy Lifestyles Program". That's how it works folks.
04.01.2022 An interesting experience yesterday. This client invited their staff into the foyer of their high rise office building for a laughter session. It included me on the big TV (look closely) and the big screen (about to be activated). The whole session was done included people lying all over the floor at the end. Is this the future of LY sessions? Could be.
04.01.2022 Online Laughter Session tonight from 6pm to 7pm AEDT. Everyone welcome https://zoom.us/s/6256549442 Password 056333
03.01.2022 A nice reminder to all of those who donated by attending the 2019 Gold Coast Laughter Conference to help fund to this cause.
02.01.2022 Local Councils in Victoria are implementing COVID Recovery Programs that are including Laughter Sessions. GRRREAT to see that they see LYOZ as a viable option for assisting in this area especially for mental health.
02.01.2022 Having completed 2 day Leader training yesterday, I received this email this morning from one of the participants. "Thanks so much for doing the work that you do. Its such an important element to encourage people to do more often. I loved learning about the benefits and knowing how yoga asanas and pranayama are integrated into the laughter technique. You've inspired me to start my own Laughter Yoga club.I have a meeting with the recreation centre on Feb 4th to arrange my Yoga classes so will be talking about Laughter Yoga then as well." This was particularly important as this person is in a remote rural area of OZ.
