Stay safe everyone thank you all for the support TIP CLOSED TO NON-ESSENTIAL USERS: The City of Launceston will close its waste transfer station at Remount Road to non-essential users from 4pm today (March 31) in line with the State Government's latest COVID-19 control measures. The updated measures were announced by Premier Peter Gutwein on Monday and came into effect at midnight last night. "These new restrictions mean that Tasmanians are now required to stay at home for the next four weeks and will only be permitted to do those things considered essential, such as buying food, going to school or work, going out for essential supplies or to check in on a loved one," Mayor Albert van Zetten said. "In light of this, it has been considered necessary to put a much stricter limit on the use of this facility." Mayor van Zetten said in terms of household rubbish collection, it was still business as usual. "People don't need to be concerned - they will still get their rubbish, recycling and FOGO bins picked up each week." The Remount Rd Waste Transfer Station closure will take effect from 4pm today (March 31) for a period of four weeks.
