02.01.2022 Launceston Eye Institute would like to introduce Dr Dean Cugley who will be commencing his specialist ophthalmology practice with us from August. The doctors and staff of LEI are excited Dean, his wife Claire (also a valuable addition to our General Practitioner community) and their two young daughters have decided to settle back in Launceston where they have family connections. Dean graduated from UTAS in 2010 with First Class Honours and completed his Ophthalmology traini...ng through Melbourne at Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in 2017. We were fortunate enough to have Dean here on rotation as a registrar and delighted to welcome him back as part of our family. Dean has undertaken extensive Fellowship subspecialist training in Melbourne, then Bristol UK and finally Moorfield’s Eye Hospital in London. This equips him with extensive experience in Medical Retina and Uveitis, along with General Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery. Dean’s experience is a perfect complement for Launceston Eye Institute consultants who provide the most comprehensive surgical and medical retinal service in the State. Dean’s expertise in uveitis will be particularly welcome in the State as until now we have relied on infrequent visiting uveitis specialists from the mainland. Dean maintains a strong academic and teaching interest and has several international peer review publications and regular presentations at international meetings. Dean certainly meets our Leadership, Excellence and Integrity practice ethos, and will enhance Launceston Eye Institute’s ability to better serve our community. Dean is available for your referrals and bookings can be made with staff via usual channels (email, fax, phone). See more
