24.01.2022 Thanks to all the kind people who volunteered for tomorrow - we're all set now!

23.01.2022 We had 236 people complete todays Launceston Easter parkrun. 36 people achieved personal best times. Todays weather conditions, foggy, cool, no wind and no sun may have helped. 8 people finished their very first parkrun. We had visitors from Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra and Victoria. Fellow Tasmanians joined us from Hobart, Burnie and Devonport. Thank you to all the volunteers out on the course and at the start/finish area. We still need a timekeeper and a barcode scanner for next week.

23.01.2022 parkrun events will continue to be suspended until at least the end of April This is to keep all parkrun countries following the same timeline, but we expect ...suspensions to go beyond April We will get through this, together More http://parkrun.me/covid19 #loveparkrun

23.01.2022 Hi Everyone. A number of the local running clubs have got together to have a Bushfire Fun Day Fundraiser after this weeks parkrun, on the green, between the Roundhouse and Gate 10. Firstly that will mean pacers! A great opportunity to challenge your PB. It's also an opportunity to be generous to fire affected regions and people in the mainland. See you on parkrunday and don't forget your barcodes and cash!

22.01.2022 Edition no.397 was held in perfect conditions this morning with 279 parkrunners taking part. Achieving milestones this morning were Joanne Green (50 Club), Roy Symington (100 Club) and NSW visitor Annie Lord (100 Club). A big thank you to all of our volunteers featuring many past and present Run Directors and Event Directors. I'm signing off as a Run Director after today and wish everyone involved all the very best for a bright future. I will be back as a regular parkrunner a...nd volunteer in the weeks and years to come. Thanks to everyone who has assisted me in any way across the last eight and a half years. Cheers - Craig Boon See more

21.01.2022 Another volunteer required for Saturday due to unforeseen circumstances. If you can help by handing out the finish tokens please respond to this post or email [email protected]

21.01.2022 All parkrun events in Australia have been suspended with immediate effect due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation All events will be cancelled unt...il at least the end of March You can read more here http://parkrun.me/covid19 Please share #loveparkrun

21.01.2022 Here is our QR code for you to check in on your Check In TAS app for parkrun today. We’ll have copies at parkrun too but you can use this to check in before you leave home if you need to.

20.01.2022 MISSING! We are missing 5 finish tokens this week. If you inadvertently wandered off home without depositing your finish token in a token bucket please contact us via messages or email [email protected]

19.01.2022 We are still in need of some barcode scanners for this Saturday’s parkrun - reply here or email [email protected]. If you are a sub-21 minute runner you could run and barcode scan on the same day !

18.01.2022 Thank you so, so much to the Launceston City Council for our brand new and amazing Kilometre markers/seats/shoe lace tying zones! Won't it be great to go back to these post COVID19. The down side is that the council used their 'you beaut' super accurate GPS gear to measure the course and get the positions correct, which has resulted in the start/finish line being moved 15 metres closer to the briefing area. Hope you are all good running the extra 30 metres when we get back and actually run a 5km parkrun.

17.01.2022 Hi parkrunners, We need three more volunteers for Saturday please - one marshal and two timekeepers. If you can assist please email [email protected]

17.01.2022 Here we go!!!!!

16.01.2022 There are currently four of these on the parkrun course. What could they be hiding?

16.01.2022 Have you ever done a freedom run? Now that the Start line at Launceston parkrun is obvious, you could go along and run the course whenever you like and count it as as freedom run! It doesn't count towards your milestone, or anything for that matter, but it is satisfying and you do get to check out the new km markers. Not sure how to add a freedom run? Some images have been added to this post that step you through this process. To get started, find an old results email first. *Please note* the council are resurfacing a section of the levee at the moment, so you do need to detour along the soccer fields boundary. As a result, you need to run through the finish line for 40/50 metres or so to get your 5km.

16.01.2022 Checkout these new gorgeous km markers while we await the return of Parkrun.

15.01.2022 A sunny day in the park New course record 14.16

15.01.2022 Here are the awesome volunteers from yesterday. If you would like to join a similarly awesome group we still need a marshal and barcode scanners for Saturday April 24. If you can help please email [email protected] (in preference to a message to the Facebook page or the comments section below). Thanks!

14.01.2022 The rain was on hold for the 268 runners and walkers at our 375th Launceston parkrun. Great to see so many families enjoying their Saturday morning with us! We had 21 park runners joining us for the first time and an impressive 42 PBs today. We celebrated Max Loffel’s (pictured) 100th parkrun and Carey and Janine’s first as run directors. Today was Sian Visser and her family’s last run with us before leaving Tasmania to be closer to her family in NSW. Thanks for your voluntee...ring at Launceston parkrun, Sian - our loss is Lithgow’s gain! Many thanks to our volunteers today: John AITKEN, Belinda ALLAIN, Ally BOWERMAN, Andy CORBOULD, Emily GATENBY, Nathan GIBB, Alison KEDDIE, Gary KILOV, Ruth KILOV, Jordan LEVI, Cathy PRYOR, Sue REARDON, Deb SCIULLI, Jacinta SMITH, David Clarence WAGNER. And thanks from Carey & Janine to those who helped us get to the start line for our first run director stint. We still need some volunteers for next week - please email [email protected] to offer your services. You can check future volunteer rosters at https://www.parkrun.com.au/launceston/futureroster See more

14.01.2022 COMPLETELY USELESS RANDOM STAT There are 143 parkrunners around the world who are currently on 249 parkruns Good things come to those who wait ... #loveparkrun

13.01.2022 We still need 1 timekeeper and 1 barcode scanner for this Saturday - many of our regulars are unavailable this weekend, so it’s a great opportunity to get your volunteer stats up or just try out a new role. Email [email protected] to put your hand up or just comment here. Parkrun can’t go ahead without you...

13.01.2022 It was exciting to see events in New Zealand back last Saturday! Each event adopted a different parkrun country as a way of encouraging and supporting others in the global parkrun community. #loveparkrun

13.01.2022 290 parkrunners turned up for a windy 396th edition of Launceston parkrun. 41 were first timers and 32 recorded new Personal Bests which is a great effort considering the conditions. We had visitors from the Northern Territory, SA, VIC, NSW and other parts of TAS. Well done to one of our juniors, Noah Kerrison, completing his 10th run and Jennifer Higgs who completed her 100th - congratulations! Thanks very much to an excellent crew of volunteers.... As keen as a lot of the people were today I think the dog in the photo was possibly our keenest starter. :) Have a great weekend and we will see you next Saturday! See more

13.01.2022 We’ve had a number of enquiries on the restarting of parkrun in Tasmania. Whilst we’re just as keen as you to return to our weekly parkrun fix, the official policy from parkrun global HQ is that they will not allow any events in a country to restart until all events in that country can restart. While you’re waiting, why not try a (not) parkrun?

13.01.2022 Are you volunteering as a scanner or timer this week? Are you thinking about doing so in the future? You will need a fully charged smartphone with the parkrun Virtual Volunteer app loaded and initialised with your parkrun barcode. We can help you set up on the day, but you can do this all at home so you are well prepared. Watch this video to find out how to get ready for timing and scanning - so that you can come along to parkrun all set up & ready to start!

13.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Our Finish Token vollie double booked themselves this weekend. If you can assist with this position, feel free to reply to this post or email us on: [email protected] See you in the morning and don't forget your barcode!

11.01.2022 It’s a beautiful breezy morning for parkrun here on the levee. See you soon and don’t forget to allow a bit of extra time for parking on Forster st or the museum.

11.01.2022 What a beautiful morning we had for Launceston parkrun #372, our 8th birthday. 260 people ran, jogged and walked and 35 of them got a new PB. We welcomed 21 first timers including 1 visitor from Canberra. Thank you to our amazing volunteers -we can’t have parkrun without you. A special thank you to Michael Den Hartog who stepped down from his Event Director role today. Michael has made an enormous contribution to our parkrun over 7 years as an RD and the last three as ED. Michael was instrumental in organising the new kilometre markers as well as countless hours of work behind the scenes. Happily he is staying on as a Run Director.

10.01.2022 What a magic day for 5km! This week 321 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 75 recorded new Personal Bests in the perfect conditions. We had visitors from Cairns, the Gold Coast, Japan and other spots of Tasmania. The Bush Fire Fun Day Fundraiser was a hit and the pacers from Launceston Running Club did a great job. Peter Moore did his 50th as well as providing our first timers briefing.... The volunteer numbers are still way short for next week so please email [email protected] if you can help. See more

10.01.2022 It's cool, it's calm, could be the perfect PB day. The Roundhouse carpark is open. Don't forget your barcode and to check in on the Check In Tas COVID safe app.

10.01.2022 Thanks Shon for this great little time lapse at the Crossroads position last parkrun. 30 minutes in 22 seconds, are you in there?

10.01.2022 Hi parkrunners, please be sure to check the website for the current position regarding COVID-19 in coming days. At this stage we are still on this Saturday so if things are going ahead we need some more volunteers - 2 timekeepers, 2 barcode scanners and one marshal to be precise. If you can help out please email [email protected] to volunteer your services. Thanks!

09.01.2022 Help! We still need 1 timekeeper, 1 funnel manager, 3 barcode scanners and a levee marshall for this week’s parkrun. Please comment here or email [email protected] to volunteer so that we can on Saturday 5th. Volunteering sometime over the next few weeks would be a fabulous Christmas to our parkrun community. 04.01.2022 Hey parkrunners! This Saturday we will celebrate the 8th anniversary of Launceston parkrun. During these COVID times, we are grateful to have parkrun at all, so we will be keeping our celebrations very low key this year. You are encouraged to wear a Club shirt if you have one, if you don't please wear red as that will show which Club shirt you are approaching. It's time for a new banner photo for our page, so lots of participants wearing club t-shirts in our new briefing area will be great.

04.01.2022 Forster street car park is locked this morning - so parking is on the street ( pedestrian access is open) or near blue cafe. See you all soon

04.01.2022 Hi parkrunners, Two of our volunteers for tomorrow have had to withdraw last minute so we are now in need of a marshal (dog park area) and a barcode scanner. We could also add another barcode scanner if we have a good response. If you can help out please email us at [email protected]
