23.01.2022 Some thoughts of mine I share after an inspiring conversation about lonliness and connection, with my friend @the_lonely_diplomat when he visited Canberra a few weeks back.

22.01.2022 How many of these do you do each day?

10.01.2022 Judgement and ego While sitting having my coffee after training this morning, I was just observing my surroundings when an almighty howl rang out through the entire cafe area. I child sitting on a kids ride was having a massive tantrum. But instead of my attention being drawn to the noise, it was drawn by an old couple next to me. ... The wife was almost up out of her seat standing to see what was going on. She then proceeded to comment to her husband, I wouldn't allow that, he'd get a quick smart smack on the bum to sort him out! They then proceeded to discuss the "bad parenting" they were observing and how much better they would handle the screaming child. Funnily, I stopped and had to check myself. I was thinking about how this was a good example of generational bias and values playing out. How these elderly couple had no self awareness or empathy to understand the situation. All they could do was judge the parents, judge the child and praise their own views. Hang on, and here I was judging them, assessing their bias against my own views and standing on my own high horse thinking how much more connected I was. See we all have our moments where we judge, and usually it's our ego leading the way to make our own views seem more important, more valid or so we can just feel better than others in a moment. Not saying that there is a right or wrong here, just a perspective on what played out and my own thoughts on this. I judged others for judging, then judged myself for doing the same thing, my self judgement ultimately resulting in this post. The first judgement was ego driven, the second self judgement was understanding driven and very insightful. When we seek to understand we can often create a deeper empathy, rather than just stroking our own egos. Everything, even our own thoughts have layers #Coach #mindset #mindfulness #ego #selfawareness #selfimprovement #better #morelove #judgement #happiness #thursdaythoughts #coachVaughan #Canberra

05.01.2022 What controls our reality? The mind? Where we think and control our thoughts? Is it the heart? Where we feel and hold intuition of things we can't see?... Reality is a funny notion, as reality is a subjective idea that exists differently for each and every one of us. Reality is not so much about "the truth" as it is about perspective. I see it as the combination of the thoughts, both conscious and subconscious, combined with our feelings, combined with our reaction to these thoughts and feelings. Reality is an interactive state. It can shift and change at any time based on our own thoughts, feelings and reactions to the environment around us. This makes ourselves and our reality a flow state. Something we can change through either how we think, how we feel or how we react. The environment we experience is beyond our control. We will always experience what is around us. HOW we experience it is where our power to change, control and create exists. Each of us have the power, we may not have the skills or experience to know how to control our reality, but we all have the ability. Learn to pause and listen to your thoughts, your feelings and challenge their truth. Then you can control the reactions and outcomes more easily. You are the master of your reality #CoachVaughan #mindsetstrong #growth #bettereachday #betterU #gratitude #shift #mindset #thoughts #feelings #reality #love #life #Canberra

01.01.2022 Mid-week Mind dump: Something to consider . . . success requires positive action.... So we embrace the positive, empowering the good and we keep a positive mind set. . . . I agree with this and truly believe in the power of positive thinking , BUT in saying this I disagree with those who teach to ignore or remove things framed as negative like fear, envy, anger or self doubt. WTF! I hear you screaming! Those are things that are bad. Detrimental to forward movement, barriers and weaknesses! Before you unfriend in disappointment, hear me out. The warrior knows that a man who claims to be fearless is a fool. The warrior is taught to recognise and embrace their fear. Accept it and use it. Fear can be a powerful motivator when we accept the feedback it provides us about a situation. The same can be said with anger, self doubt and envy. These carry negative and harmful assumptions, yet they are the same as fear. They are a stimulus, information we have received and processed to "feel" a certain way and formulate an appropriate response. What if we paused and sat with that feeling. Accepting it and asking ourselves what it means. What it tells us. What can we take away and learn from this feedback and how do we use it to better ourselves or drive us in a positive way? For exame, If you are envious, don't feel bad or try to hide it, there us obviously something you see which you desire. Plan a strategy and work it in as a goal to obtain it. Angry? Don't lash out or yell. Absorb the feedback and address the behaviour that has angered you. Use this feedback to assess the situation and yourself and know this is where the line for your values is drawn. The same can be said with self doubt. Don't dismiss it. Assess your skills, the situation, the timing. Maybe there is a better option or approach? Reflection can be a powerful reveal. It doesn't mean stop, it means caution, take stock, challenge the doubt you feel and assess it's source. Remember, life is information in and out and our reactions to this are what create the end reality we live out day to day. Positivism is awesome. I love positive motivation. Just don't discard everything else as evil or something holding you back. It doesn't hold you back unless you allow it. -VC-
