I didn’t focus on speed or anything for this one - try and control your breathing and keep a consistent pace throughout the rounds! 21.01.2022 Setting up a camera is a great way for you to analyse and critique your own lifts! Remember to do it from all angles; side, front and back to see any deviations in form such as hip shifts, knees collapsing, arches collapsing, etc. In Shane’s earlier sets leading up to this 75%, we noticed that when he was pulling his shoulder blades back and down is was forcing his spine into excessive extension. So we made some adjustments, and focused on maintaining a more neutral ...spine in the later heavier sets. The video helps show the individual exactly how they are moving and what to change or focus on in the next sets. 16.01.2022 WALL WALKS I sometimes forget about these bad boys when I’m programming. It’s fun to incorporate these into some sessions as a way to give it variety, learn new skills and test the shoulder stability and core strength! First time for @demawest and we were slowly inching her closer to the wall each set - the end goal is to feel comfortable and strong with your chest touching the wall! 12.01.2022 The TGU (Turkish Get-Up) is a long technical move and a true test of shoulder and spine stability. Athletes can hide some dysfunction when using a fixed object (such as a barbell, the floor for push ups, bar dips etc.) but if you take away the connection, you can see underlying issues with joint stability. 09.01.2022 You got a kettlebell YOU GOT A GYM Nah but seriously - the kettlebell is one of the most versatile and underrated pieces of equipment which everyone can use in one way or another! If you’re in the midst of setting up your home gym during isolation, if you haven’t already - DEFINITELY get your hands on 1 or 2 kettlebells. I would recommend 1x light-ish and 1x heavy-ish if you have the means for it! (A light KB would be around 8-12kg for majority of people and depending on ...your strength level a heavy KB could be anywhere between 12-28kg). I’ve given examples of most KB exercises I can think of (I forgot to do double arm and single arm thrusters [front squat to push press], as well as double arm and single arm overhead lunge - just from the top of my head. Really the amount of movements are endless with a kettlebell). 02.01.2022 BODYWEIGHT MOVEMENTS Right here are nearly every single bodyweight movement I can think of. Squat, lunge, push up, plank and burpee variations and a few more! With gyms closed due to COVID-19 there’s been an obvious necessity to workout from home. So use these exercises as a bit of a guideline to programming yourself a bodyweight workout anywhere and anytime! Mixing a few of these together for volume either set as RFT (rounds for time), EMOM (every minute on the minute) or an AMRAP (as many rounds as possible in a certain timeframe) will elicit a metabolic response, build up a sweat and maintain strength levels. Not forever, just until all this craziness blows over and the country can control the massive spread of COVID-19, I think this is 100% the right thing to do given the circumstances.
