25.01.2022 Great to be out this morning spreading the news about the LNP’s $300 Rego Rebate! This Rego Rebate will inject $1.15 billion into the Queensland economy before Christmas, and will put $300 straight into the bank accounts of Queensland drivers.

25.01.2022 What an incredible milestone Congratulations to Narelle and Grant who are celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary!! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining Narelle and Grant’s beautiful, supportive family as they shared the secret to a long and happy relationship: being thoughtful, and enjoying life.... I wish this remarkable couple many more years of happiness. Fun fact: Grant was actually Mayor of the Cook Shire Council, and his daughter Marilyn is now following in his footsteps as a councillor in the Shire.

25.01.2022 Earlier today I was sworn in as the Member for Currumbin in the 57th Parliament . I want to thank the community for placing their faith in me to represent you for the next four years!

24.01.2022 The clean up of @currumbin_slsc is underway - these amazing volunteers have cleaned the downstairs gym and SLSC, I popped by to help out. Thomas on the other hand #notsohelpful - but don’t worry, hubby was there to look after him. The supporters club will re-open Friday 18th Dec from 7.30am

24.01.2022 Had a blast last night at the Currumbin Community Christmas Carols, organised by Cr Gail O'Neill - Division 14 and the City of Gold Coast. It was great to see the Currumbin Valley Rural Fire Brigade in attendance, an important volunteer organisation that help protects our community.

24.01.2022 Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had the privilege of meeting some locals who are celebrating their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. I thought I’d share with you their secrets for a long and happy marriage: The Fawcett’s secret was tolerance, communication and acceptance.... The Hemburrow’s was prioritizing family and happiness and a little bit of give and take. The Panozzo’s told me that their secret was being each other’s best friend and working well together. What a privilege it was to hear their stories and celebrate their anniversaries!

24.01.2022 I've got a number of upcoming listening posts around the electorate! If you're in the area, feel free to stop in and say hello!

23.01.2022 If you're looking for something great to do this weekend, you should visit the Open Garden at Tani Tei En in Currumbin Valley. Entry is only $5 and entry for the kids is free!

23.01.2022 How did you spend your first days of 2021? This is how we spent ours, family, friends and surf! I am grateful everyday for this beautiful place we call home, I am committed to taking care of it, and I am determined to bring to 2021 the energy and positivity we all want, thank you for the privilege Currumbin. Bring on 2021 ... oh and also ... all hands are back on deck in the office tomorrow, looking forward to serving you all throughout this year

23.01.2022 What a beautiful day to chat with locals and stroll through the open garden at Tani Tei En today with the family. I even got a chance to catch up with the property owner, Bob Marshallwho is the Marshall in Attwood Marshall Lawyersthe firm where I started my legal career. It's also terrific that Bob and his wife Evelyn are generously donating all proceeds from their open garden this year to the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation and the Southern Beaches Community Garden .

23.01.2022 Remember to Remember this Remembrance Day (November 11). This Remembrance Day, like everything this year, will be different. Currumbin RSL will still be conducting a service at the club, but due to Covid restrictions and being limited to the number people allowed to attend, this will be a closed event. They are livestreaming the service on Facebook from 10:15am for your viewing. Head to their Facebook page at 10:15am and find the LIVE video to view.... They have also invited the public to come pay their respects at their cenotaph throughout the day, outside of the service (before 9:30am and after 11:30am). Remember those who have given their lives in service to their country in wars and conflicts around the world. Remember those who have come home injured or ill, in body or spirit. And remember those who bravely serve our country today.

23.01.2022 City of Gold Coast has issued a WATCH AND ACT with flooding likely in Tallebudgera & Currumbin catchments. Several local roads are closed, including the Stewarts Road/ M1 intersection at the lights. Council is offering sandbags at the Tugun Depot (on the left, just past the desal plant) or at 51 Hutchinson Street, Burleigh Heads next to the waste facility. ... Panda's ChildCare reached out in need of sandbags to safeguard against flooding - I was happy to assist by collecting and delivering the necessary sandbags! #girlpower #crisisaverted Please take care everyone

23.01.2022 Today the Coolangatta Senior Citizens held their AGM. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend because I was in Parliament. Josie from my office attended on my behalf. Josie is an incredible asset to our local community and is just as passionate as I am about serving our community! The Club asked Josie to run their elections for them. Congratulations to President Jan and her committee on their election. They’ve done a wonderful job revitalising the club since their shut down for COVID-19 and I look forward to joining them at a future event!

23.01.2022 Have you put your Christmas tree up yet? Consider a sustainable Christmas tree to reduce your eco footprint this Christmas. I LOVE our beautiful living free from Currumbin Fair Nursery. Even our decorations are sustainably sourced made from fabric and wood, which we reuse and add to each year. Lily craftily made this years wood decorations at Tugun Lights Up’s storyfest stall and the tiny red baubles and dried ‘snow’ flowers were sourced from Gather on Currumbin Creek Road.... Definitely worth investigating if you’re looking for a more environmentally-friendly option for Christmas decorating this year!

23.01.2022 Terrific final couple of days on prepoll! My tiny fan Matilda dropped in to give me this beautiful picture she drew for me I even had some help from some very special helpers ... Don’t forget tomorrow is the final day to vote. Booths are open from 8-6! Remember to vote [1] LNP to change the government and get Queensland working again!!

22.01.2022 Today is National Police Remembrance Day, where we commemorate and honour police officers across the country who have lost their lives and ensure the integrity, courage and bravery of their ultimate sacrifice is never forgotten. Today, we pause to pay tribute to fallen officers.

22.01.2022 Perfect way to end a parliamentary sitting week, hearing from locals at The Pines Elanora. I regularly host mobile offices across the electorate but if there is a specific issue I can help you with and we haven’t crossed paths yet, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at [email protected] or by phoning (07) 5601 9100.

22.01.2022 Update! Border Restrictions have changed again, effective immediately. The Northern Beaches region of NSW has now been declared as a hotspot, more information can be found via this link. https://www.qld.gov.au//c/current-status/hotspots-covid-19 This means that anyone who arrives in Queensland on a flight from Sydney after 1am on Saturday 19 December 2020 must get tested and go into hotel quarantine at their own expense for 14 days from the date they left the North...ern Beaches. Anyone who has been in a declared COVID hotspot will need to complete a border declaration pass online before travelling to Queensland Unless you have an exemption, you are not permitted to travel to Queensland by road if you have been in a declared COVID hotspot. Please call the COVID Hotline on 134 268 if you need specific advice from the Health Department.

21.01.2022 'Our Border Region' is a fantastic book created by the team at HeadlineAd that showcases the best of our region's landscape, history, community and business. This morning Karen Andrews MP officially launched the the book at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. It was fantastic to be invited to attend alongside Karen Andrews MP and Cr Gail O'Neill - Division 14 to celebrate the launch of the book.

20.01.2022 Managed to snag a democracy sausage (pun intended) from Dave, the President of the Currumbin State Primary School P&C. It’s terrific to be able to support the organisations fundraising at Election Day booths. Thanks Dave!

20.01.2022 Now that the election is over and the votes have all been counted, the ECQ’s Currumbin office will close. I popped in to thank Karen, the Currumbin Returning Officer, for her and her staff’s hard work running the election and counting the votes, particularly in the days following polling day. Thank you Karen!

20.01.2022 At Estimates today - Estimates is the one chance we have to directly hold the Government to account on what they spend and how they behave. This morning the Attorney-General will have to answer the tough questions from myself as Deputy Chair, @timnichollsmp and @andrewpowellmp

19.01.2022 Congratulations to David Crisafulli - Broadwater MP on being elected as Leader of the Liberal National Party, alongside new Deputy Leader David Janetzki MP. I know they both have the drive and hunger to win, and I look forward to being a part of their team.

19.01.2022 Great to be at Kirra Surf Life Saving Club this afternoon supporting the fundraiser for Disabled Surfers Association Gold Coast. Dave Sturmer is a terrific local artist who donated his time and paintings to raise money to help Disabled Surfers Association Gold Coast purchase a beach wheelchair and matting to enable access to the surf. Kirra Surf Life Saving Club has got behind this worthy cause too - so fantastic! Side note: I love that Tommy joined me for my speech (he actually fell asleep - not sure if that’s because of my speech or because he is a total angel )

19.01.2022 It was fantastic to join Karen Andrews MP and meet Jodi and the team at PSI Screenprinting this week. After looking around their amazing factory, we heard how #JobKeeper helped them make it through COVID-19 and come out stronger on the other side. 19.01.2022 I’ll do ANYTHING to promote our amazing southern Gold Coast businesses... Even jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet The team at Gold Coast SkyDive were incredible. I couldn’t have felt safer with them having over 10 years of expertise under their belt! Such an awesome adrenaline rush and well and truly a big tick off my bucket list. ... Our beautiful area looks even better from up there and what an entrance to the awesome Beach Rugby Australia event at Greenmount beach happening all weekend. If you want to see it too, Gold Coast Skydive are offering $50 off a Tandem Skydive between now and the 22nd of November. Get on it and support local!

18.01.2022 Today is White Ribbon Day. On White Ribbon Day we stand up, speak out against violence against women and act to promote gender equality. As a community, we can learn about how to behave towards each other with respect, trust and equality to ensure our community actively works towards ending violence against women.... To find out more, visit: www.whiteribbon.org.au/day

18.01.2022 Work hasn’t stopped, although counting continues! By the ECQ’s count I was up around 350 votes on Thursday morning, but postal votes can still be received up until the end of tomorrow, at which point we will be closer to an official result. In the meantime, you’ll still find me out and about in the community, and my office is still open to the public.... I’d also like to take a moment to thank all of my hardworking volunteers and family members, who’ve given up countless hours during the election. Regardless of the outcome, I couldn’t have done it without all of your support!!

18.01.2022 When I'm out talking to locals, hooning is an issue that's consistently raised with me, particularly in parts of Currumbin Waters, Currumbin Valley and Tallebudgera Valley. The LNP has announced that we will invest an additional $1 million into tackling hooning by rolling-out road treatments that erode rubber when a car performs a burn-out or skids. Hooning gangs have caused misery for communities and put the lives of law-abiding motorists at risk.... Only the LNP has a plan to tackle hooning on the Gold Coast by: 1 Installing 100 new covert CCTV cameras 2 Rolling-out tyre-shredding road surfaces in burnout spots 3 Introducing anti-hooning gang laws Currumbin wants more jobs and less crime and that’s what an LNP Government will deliver.

18.01.2022 What a legend! This morning Claude 'The Mowerman' Harvey dropped into my office for a chat while he was down in Coolangatta and Kirra doing some fundraising for Bravehearts. Claude told me about his passion for raising funds to prevent child sexual assault and exploitation, and how he has already raised over $1.5 million for Bravehearts. ... Claude is truly an asset to the community - what a champion! Thank you for everything you do!

18.01.2022 What a great day to be down at Currumbin Beach supporting Our Beaches Community, an intiative of the City of Gold Coast. Our Beaches Community encourages the community to be involved in caring for our coastal environment through activities such as planting dune vegetation, removing weeds and collecting litter. Anyone can be involved and new volunteers are welcome.

18.01.2022 So excited to have been able to cut the ribbon at the opening of Gordon's Garage Business Centre with Cr Gail O'Neill - Division 14 and Margaret Luton from the Tweed Historical Society. The new business centre, in Griffith Street Coolangatta, was renovated by 3 financial services firmsButlers Accountants, Aspire Advice and Signate Lending Serviceswho worked closely with the Tweed Historical Society to uncover the history of the site and retain its legacy. What a terrific new location in Coolangatta!

17.01.2022 Ever since Labor began watering down the Youth Justice Act in 2016 our community has been plagued by break and enters, property damage, stabbings, hooning and vehicle theft. Yesterday I spoke in Queensland Parliament in support of a Bill to see more changes to youth justice and hooning laws. In my speech I talk about why the amendments are not good enough, but at least they are a first step.... Take a listen to what I had to say

17.01.2022 Border Restrictions Update Queensland will reopen to people from across all of NSW from Tuesday 1 December. The Government will make a decision about Victoria tomorrow. However the CHO has not outlined a definite timeline for South Australia, but it's likely it will occur at the end of the month. ... The Government needs to release the full health advice they're receiving, so it's clear what the threshold is to close the border to states or regions. Queenslanders deserve to see the details on how these decisions are being made. This is terrific news for those planning on seeing loved ones interstate for Christmas and should provide some certainty for travel. It’s also good news for our local tourism industry on the Southern Gold Coast which is still really struggling. What this means for the border checkpoints and border passes is still unclear but I will keep you all updated as it becomes clear.

16.01.2022 A Gold Coast Bulletin special investigation reveals which of the $4.85b worth of promised projects by the government, have been given a green, red or amber light. Southern Gold Coast Satellite Hospital Amber Currumbin MP Laura Gerber has called on the government to announce where the planned Gold Coast Satellite Hospital would be located in Tugun.... This is part of a $265 million commitment to build seven such hospitals. She said there were no details of when it would be opened to receive patients. Asked for more details, Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said: The government has announced that Tugun is the preferred location of the Southern Gold Coast Satellite Hospital, which is subject to community consultation. I will keep holding the government to account for their promises in the best interests of our community. Read the full article here

16.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who stopped into my listening post at The Pines Elanora today. It was also a pleasure to have Senator Amanda Stoker join me for the morning while out chatting to locals.

16.01.2022 Did you know that our local Elanora Neighbourhood Police Beat provides a free anti-theft service for licence plates? One-way screws prevent your licence plate from being removed and used in crimes such as burglaries or petrol drive-off's. The service is free and takes only a few minutes - simply contact the Police Beat on (07) 5571 4740 to book a free appointment!

16.01.2022 Queensland had the highest unemployment in the nation even before COVID-19. Change the government to get Queensland working again.

16.01.2022 A broken promise from Labor just over a month after the election. Despite promising only $4 billion in additional borrowings, they’re now borrowing $28 billion. This state is headed for $130 billion in debt.... Currently 214,000 Queenslanders are looking for work.

16.01.2022 Remembrance Day is one of the most important days of our year, we stand together with our service personnel and veterans and we remember those who have lost their lives in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping. Today I was honoured to be part of the Currumbin RSL service and I had the pleasure of chatting with WWII Veterans Jack Spehr and Dan Waters. It is so important that we pass their stories onto our next generation, so generations to come also do not forget the sacrifice they made.

15.01.2022 It's incredibly disappointing that none of Labor's promises for the Currumbin electorate will be fully funded or delivered by the end of the financial year. Have a read of my take on the State Budget in the below article

15.01.2022 We’ll be tabling the Move for Oakley petition in Parliament tomorrow! If you haven’t had the chance to sign the petition yet, there is still time to sign and get your support on record https://moveforoakley.org/sign-the-petition/... https://moveforoakley.org/howyoucanhelp/

15.01.2022 Breaking News Qld borders will be open to all of NSW from Monday 1 February. Border checkpoints are coming down too . ... I’ll keep you posted as more details come to light.

14.01.2022 Thank you Elanora State School for hosting me this morning for a lovely ANZAC Day service. It was wonderful to hear the contributions of the school leaders, the beautiful voices in the choir, and Company Sergeant Major Scott McAndrew (retired) as he shared some of his experiences. #LestWeForget

14.01.2022 A great day meeting small business owners in Coolangatta today. It was interesting to hear their stories about the unique problems faced by the border community. It was a pleasure to meet Kim who runs the Coolangatta Yoga Centre on Marine Parade. If you're interested in getting involved in classes, or attending their free meditation sessions, give Kim a call on 0414 634 081. As your local MP, I am always happy to listen to what you need to see from your State Government. Please do not hesitate to call or email my office.

14.01.2022 Last night I attended a general meeting of the Currumbin Valley Rural Fire Brigade, where these amazing volunteers attained their Firefighter Minimum Skills rank and are now ready to be deployed in order to keep people and property safe! I also volunteered to become part of the Currumbin Valley Rural Fire Brigade. To volunteer your time and join a rural fire brigade visit ... www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au//Membership-and-Application-Proce See more

14.01.2022 Take note. We need to change the government to get Queensland working again.

14.01.2022 At Estimates for Police I uncovered that the Labor Government intends to close down police beats to make way for ‘mobile’ police beats. The Police Commissioner could not guarantee a dedicated mobile police beat for the Currumbin electorate if our Elanora police beat is closed down. Throughout the State election campaign Labor claimed they would deliver ‘extra’ police beats. What a crock! #anotherlaborlie It has now been revealed that Labor intend to close down our po...lice beats with no guarantee that a ‘mobile’ police beat will be based in the Currumbin electorate - that’s not ‘extra’ police beats at all. Our community cannot afford to lose the protection of a police beat!

13.01.2022 To the 14,000 people who have Moved for Oakley by signing this petition, thank you Your support and action is appreciated, and is vital as we push for SMA screening to be included in the newborn heel-prick test I am about to table this petition in Queensland Parliament to put your support on record ... And don’t worry, the petition is printed double-sided on recycled paper

13.01.2022 All ready to go for tonight’s candidate debate for the seat of Currumbin hosted online by the Gold Coast Bulletin! You can listen live from 7.30pm at: https://bit.ly/37lZXZM

13.01.2022 Mother Nature certainly unleashed her fury last night, I hope everyone is safe and well. Here’s our beloved Currumbin Beach Vikings Club. They are predicting that the severe weather will continue. All the latest updates can be found here http://dashboard.cityofgoldcoast.com.au. ... Remember Don’t enter the water- if it’s flooded, forget it. . If you require assistance during a flood or storm call the SES on 132 500 or triple zero 000 for any life threatening emergency.

13.01.2022 Labor's Deputy Premier labelled people who don't vote Labor "freaks and weirdos." Watch for yourself: https://bit.ly/3jhfw7j

13.01.2022 A very wet day down at prepoll today! Thank you to all my terrific volunteers who toughed it out in the rain to spread the word about the LNP’s plan to get Queensland working again!!

13.01.2022 Wet weather isn’t enough to keep us away from early voting at the Tugun Village Community Centre! For roughing it out we’ve been rewarded with this beautiful rainbow. Remember, you can still early vote until 6pm today, from 9am to 9pm tomorrow, and from 9am to 6pm on Friday!

13.01.2022 Great to had have Senator Gerard Rennick in the Currumbin electorate, visiting some of our terrific small businesses in Tugun, Queensland, Australia. I know many businesses are doing it tough right now, but it’s great to see our community’s resilience and fighting spirit!

13.01.2022 Toni Robinson, you have had such an amazing influence in our Currumbin community. First as principal of Tallebudgera State School for 8 years, and then as principal of Elanora State School for the last 3 years. Last week Toni received an offer to return to her home town of Townsville for Term 2 of the school year and take up the mantle of Assistant Regional Director, where she will have the opportunity to support 19 schools. After 11 years of shaping our local schools, t...he community will not be the same without you. Toni, thank you for your continuous dedication and we hope to see you back in our classrooms in Term 3, but if Townsville ends up snagging you permanently, I wish you the very best for this new chapter that lays ahead of you, and look forward to catching up soon.

12.01.2022 Can anyone name the car I’m standing in front of with my mate from Currumbin Laura Gerber MP? Hint - it’s a Toyota. We’re up on the Sunny Coast for a Policy a...nd Planning Forum with all our LNP MPs. Great meeting tonight with a big turnout from the local chambers of commerce at Sunshine Toyota.

12.01.2022 One of the new hats I’ve been asked to wear in the Queensland Parliament is that of the Acting Deputy Speaker. That means when the Speaker and Deputy Speaker aren’t in the chair, I can be asked to step in and keep the rest of the Members in order. Thankfully my time today in the chair wasn’t as rowdy as a Question Time!!

12.01.2022 The LNP’s car rego rebate will put $300 into your pocket by Christmas and provide major cost of living relief for Queensland families and small business owners.

11.01.2022 3 Day Lockdown for Greater Brisbane From 6:00pm tonight, residents living in the council areas of Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton and Redlands will be required to stay home until 6:00pm Monday. Additionally, anyone who has been in the Greater Brisbane area since the 2nd of January should also isolate for 3 days, wherever they currently are located. ...Continue reading

11.01.2022 BORDER CHECKPOINT UPDATE From 1am on Tuesday 1 December Queensland Border checkpoints and closures will be gone. You should start seeing the dismantling of the checkpoints occurring over the next week and by 1am on Tuesday 1 Dec, free flowing traffic. Thankfully, this also means that hard closures like Tomewin Mountain Road will be reopened . Thanks to the work of the community in fighting against the hard closure and I am so pleased that locals will be able to use... this vital road to access their schools and trade once again! Border declaration passes will only be required for those travelling from declared hotspots (which from 1 December will only include Adelaide). Police will undertake random patrols and intercepts, with a focus on cars and travellers from South Australia. The dismantling of checkpoints also means that around 200 police officers can now return to normal daily duties like catching criminals.

11.01.2022 Whilst NYE might look a bit different this year - we are lucky enough to still have fireworks! If you want to catch them head to Coolangatta Kirra Groyne, Marine Pde at 9pm and midnight! is of the 2019 Kirra fireworks - who needs an emoji when you have this image . ... Happy New Years Eve everyone, I look forward to what 2021 might bring and I wish you all a safe and happy new year.

11.01.2022 The signs are all there. On 31 October, change the government to get Queensland working again.

11.01.2022 Today's Auditor-General report highlights the Palaszczuk Labor Government doesn’t have an economic plan to get Queensland working again or create a decade of secure jobs. No budget means Labor is flying blind through the biggest economic crisis in almost a century. Prior to COVID, Queensland had the nation’s highest unemployment, most bankruptcies and lowest business confidence.... Through the LNP's Economic Recovery Agency the first 100 day action plan will be to coordinate projects such as the New Bradfield Scheme and fast-tracking approvals for the Second M1.

11.01.2022 Border update Currently the vehicle checkpoints are at: Gold Coast Highway and Coolangatta Road M1 Northbound near Stewarts Road... Griffith Street and Stuart Street All other locations have HARD BORDER CLOSURES, as follows: Boundary Street and Clarke Street Dixon Street and Bay Street Ducat Street and Miles Street: Previously this has been a crossing point - now it is a hard closure . I am fighting for it to be a crossing point again. I am advised by senior police that when more resources become available it will be turned back into a vehicle crossing point, but police cannot say when this will happen. Leeward Terrace and Tooloon Street Kent Street near Murraba Crescent Tomewin Mountain Road, Currumbin Valley Dixon & Florence Nerang Murwillumbah Road, Natural Bridge: Again, previously this was also crossing point but it is currently a hard closure. I am advocating for you on the border. If you have a story/experience you want me to know about, please comment below or DM me. We need a better border system for locals that allows the border community to still go about their daily lives while keeping you safe. Take a listen to what I had to say about this on News Talk 4BC 1116 today

10.01.2022 First day back at school for all our State Schools - Welcome back everyone! I’m looking forward to wonderful school year with all of our school communities #staypositive #itsgottobebetterthan2020 #BackToSchool #currumbin #schoolmum #haveagreatdayeveryone

10.01.2022 Labor can't manage money. Their own costings will cut $1 billion from Queensland's health budget.

10.01.2022 Border checkpoint update Miles St at Coolangatta will open as a checkpoint at 7am tomorrow, Thursday 31st Dec 2020. I know this cannot come soon enough. Thank you to everyone in the community that reached out with your stories which helped me fight for this checkpoint to open. ... I am not done! I will continue to fight for a better border system for locals and for Tomewin Mountain Road to be opened as a checkpoint too.

10.01.2022 Border Restrictions Update Anyone crossing the border will now require a pass. Border passes will again be necessary for anyone crossing into Queensland from New South Wales. Apply for your pass here ... https://www.qld.gov.au/border-pass Anyone who has been anywhere in New South Wales since December 11 will be required to complete the pass before entering Queensland. This includes Queenslanders returning from interstate. As before, the passes should be displayed on your windscreen when crossing the border, with random police intercepts - but no hard border barricades at this stage. Police advise anyone entering from the northern beaches local government area (now a hotspot) will be turned around at the border and required to go into quarantine before entry into Queensland. Anyone with symptoms is urged to get tested. Testing locations are here https://www.qld.gov.au/covid19testing The Government is also strongly recommending Queenslanders reconsider travelling to Sydney. Please call the COVID Hotline on 134 268 if you need specific advice from the Health Department.

10.01.2022 It’s official - with your support, tonight I’ve been returned as your Member for Currumbin! I am so humbled by this result. Thank you.... I will continue to work just as hard for you in the next four years as I have over the last seven months. We’ve got a lot of challenges to deal with both locally and state wide. That’s what I’ll remain focused on. I know lots of locals are doing it tough, and I fear things will get worse before they get better. Queenslanders need a government with an economic plan to get locals back into work. Whilst I’m disappointed the LNP won’t have the opportunity to introduce our plan to get Queensland working again, I am determined to remain your strong voice, advocating to get our community what it needs, no matter how long it takes to get Labor to do it. I’d like to thank Kaylee Campradt and all my opponents for participating in what is such an important part of our democracy. It takes enormous courage to stand for public office - and I wish them all the best. Again, thank you for your support. Currumbin, I won’t let you down.

Hear what I had to say in Queensland Parliament

07.01.2022 Safe to say, I wasn't a fan of the new artwork outside my office. Much happier now that the profanities, extremist symbols and other graffiti has been removed. If you need to report an incident to police, such as property damage and graffiti, hooning, or suspicious activity you can do so online by going to https://www.police.qld.gov.au/units/policelink-131-444. Instructions for how to do this in the comments.

I got to say g’day to some of our newest Australians at the Citizenship Ceremony at... City of Gold Coast including Mr Thiago Padua from Currumbin Waters, originally from Brazil, Thiago tells me he has waited 5 long years to become an Aussie, congratulations Thiago! and to finish the day off I spent the arvo at Alleygators PBC judging their ‘best dressed bogan’ competition obviously Bob who I gave the 2 to did not win #aussiesussieaussie #loveaustralia #australiaday2021

07.01.2022 Local Weather Update Please take care on our roads today, and where possible, stay indoors. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Heavy Rainfall across the Gold Coast, and we are already seeing local flooding. Keep up to date with the latest via www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings... As always, if it's flooded, forget it.

07.01.2022 Many of us will remember the Slip Slop Sap jingle that first made an appearance in the 80s. We still have the same sun as we did back then, so the message is still just as important today as it was then! This week is National Skin Cancer Action Week, and as we head into summer it is a timely reminder to Slip Slop Slap (& Seek and Slide) when outdoors.... For more information on how to protect yourself from skin damage and skin cancer, visit, https://cancerqld.org.au/cancer-prevention/sun-protection/

06.01.2022 The State Budget was finally handed down today! You have to do some mathematical gymnastics to work it all out so keep an eye on my Facebook page for updates about what the budget means for you. I’m going to specifically hone in on what’s being committed for our community and fight to ensure these commitments are delivered

06.01.2022 The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service has warned most of the severe weather is expected tonight and into Monday. If it’s flooded please don’t risk it. Stay safe in this weather everyone. https://qldtraffic.qld.gov.au/listview.html

06.01.2022 Under Labor, Queensland has the worst business confidence in the country. Only the LNP has a plan for jobs. Change the government to get Queensland working again.

06.01.2022 Only the LNP has a plan to get Queensland working again. Change the government on 31 October. www.lnp.org.au

06.01.2022 An elected LNP Government will introduce changes to Labor's failing Youth Justice Act within the first 100 days. Crime is out of control under Labor so we can't afford to waste a day before making these changes. Youth Justice Act changes to be introduced:... Scrap Labor’s soft ‘catch and release’ laws Bring back breach of bail as an offence Recognise prior youth offending in the courts Remove detention as a last resort. Mandatory detention for third conviction Only the LNP will crackdown on crime and help keep our communities safe.

05.01.2022 Great to chat this morning to the kids of Playschool Kindergarten and Currumbin State Primary School about their involvement in ‘Project 2020’. Project 2020 was a waste management and environmental education program developed by Glowing Green Australia, supported by Sustainable Schools Network and Federally funded thanks to our brilliant Federal Member Karen Andrews MP Project 2020 inspired and empowered these children to be agents of change, beginning with their local... environments . These children are the next generation of community leaders and it is essential that we continue the conversation about best practice environmental management and continue to instil an appreciation of our unique and biodiverse ecosystem here in Currumbin. A huge congratulations to all the early education centres and schools across the Currumbin electorate who participated in the program and most importantly, well done to all the children who got involved.

05.01.2022 While a council issue, development in our community is always a hot topic. When speaking with the Friends of Rainbow Bay Society recently about the development proposed for the Cafe dbar site, locals emphasised the importance of ensuring town planning laws are complied with when undertaking new development. Thank you to all the local residents who reached out to me and took the time to share their thoughts.

05.01.2022 Thrilled to be part of an LNP team who will create 30,000 additional places in before and after school care programs to lower costs for working families across Queensland. An LNP Government will invest $80 million in major upgrades to expand school facilities and increase available places and subsidise childcare training to address chronic worker shortages. The LNP will provide more places and more options for working parents across Queensland. More places mean lower costs ...for the families of 340,000 kids in our primary schools. The LNP will harness the potential of Queensland’s education system to ease the burden on working families and make it easier for parents who want to re-enter the workforce. It’s a part of our vision to make Queensland the best place to live, work and raise a family.

04.01.2022 What a sight These beautiful handmade installations will be up until the end of the week, make sure you check them out in person! Lest We Forget

04.01.2022 Local Roads Update Please take care on our roads this morning. Following heavy rain, Currumbin Creek Road in Currumbin Valley has seen several trees fall down across the road, as well as silt. While the road is currently still in use, please be careful and aware of the debris. Council will be cleaning the area later today. As always, if it's flooded, forget it.

04.01.2022 We live in such a beautiful part of the world, and many people who stop at my listening posts, like the one I held yesterday at Man on the Bike Shops, have some great ideas about how we can improve our local area! Thanks to everyone for sharing! Do you have any ideas to improve our community? If so, send me a Facebook message

03.01.2022 That’s a wrap Today I volunteered my time at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation wrapping station. These volunteers are some of the best wrappers I have ever seen - I had so much fun - thank you to everyone volunteering their time for this worthy cause. If you are shopping at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre this Christmas get your wrapping done here and all the proceeds go Currumbin Wildlife Hospital!

03.01.2022 Last week I gave my speech in Parliament about the Queensland 2020-21 Budget. If you don’t have a spare 15 minutes to watch it, here’s what it means for the Currumbin electorate: What we got (but most of the funding won’t be for the next few years...so I will have to continue the fight for delivery):... Labor matched the LNP’s commitment for a $2 million upgrade to Currumbin Beach Vikings SLSC a $40 million satellite hospital in Tugun, although: nearly no funding has been allocated this financial year; and despite the location being announce during the election campaign as Tugun, the budget papers don’t say it will be in Tugun Elanora State School, Currumbin Valley State School, Tallebudgera State School, Currumbin State School and Elanora State High School are all getting some minor upgrades Road upgrades for Currumbin Creek Road and Bienvenue Drive intersection, the intersection of the Gold Cost Highway and Toolona Street, and a new entrance for the Gold Coast Airport 148-hectare eco-parkland in Currumbin Valley however again nearly no funding has been allocated this financial year What we didn’t get: No additional police officers for the Southern Gold Coast No funding for anti-hooning technology No upgrade to the industrial section of Currumbin Creek Road No funding for the extension of the heavy rail south to the airport This year’s transport budget has less than 1% of the funding for the Second M1, with almost half the funding not being delivered until 2024 or later The Gold Coast as a whole is only getting a faction of the capital works spend, a city with 15% of Queensland population, is only getting a measly 4% of the capital works budget . And what is even more concerning is that Labor are borrowing an extra 28 billion and our States worth will only increase by 0.08% - this means our - YOUR - hard earned money is not being spent on infrastructure, things the create assets for the long term benefit of Queenslanders, it’s being spent to keep the lights on, mortgaging our kids future with nothing to show for it . I’ll keep fighting hard to deliver the projects and infrastructure our community desperately needs.

03.01.2022 Today I got to mind little Bella while her mum went in to vote. I tried to talk to Bella about the LNP’s terrific policy, the $300 rego rebate, which will inject $1.15 billion into the Queensland economy before Christmas, but she was more interested in getting pats! Remember, early voting is available at the Tugun Village Community Centre from 9am every day until polling day!

03.01.2022 Alison and Tracey have teamed up at Freeman's Organic Farm in the beautiful Currumbin Valley. Alison is a local pottery and ceramic artist operating Currumbin Valley Canvas and Clay pottery studio in Currumbin Valley, Queensland and Tracey makes beautiful Kokedama - Japanese moss ball garden art. They have a pop up stall on the weekends at Freeman’s. Lily has chosen her cute kokedama and the ceramic dish to display it - come down next weekend and chose yours!

03.01.2022 Bleach this year is brilliant! I love that Bleach Festival is building community and unity through arts and cultural. This morning I had the privilege of seeing Luther Cora, Whaia Creation and Gabrielle Willie perform in a very special collaboration in the sand circle, a culturally safe and inclusive space for dance, music, storytelling, performance and yarning. What a magical way to start my day! Jo-Anne Driessens the First Nations curator for Bleach Festival also very kindly showed me around Sky Weave - a mesmerising observatory - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women collaborated to weave a story of the skies through place and time - it is spectacular! Shout out to Lifesaver Fabrication and Welding in Currumbin who fabricated the rings for the project!

03.01.2022 This is Antonietta, she owns an incredible natural beauty store on Griffith Street called Colores Custom Cosmetics. Antoneitta has a huge heart. Over the Christmas break she hand-made and distributed soaps to the homeless in and around our community. The soap had a beautiful message of ‘Hope’ embedded into it. Very fitting for these times. ... Today I spoke to her, and other businesses on Griffith Street, about how they have been affected by the border closures. Similar to many locally owned businesses on the strip, most see a real difference in foot-traffic every time border restrictions are imposed. It’s tough for small business owners to get back on their feet as the borders continue to close, re-open, then close again. If you wanted to check out Antonietta’s shop, it’s located at 90-100 Griffith Street, Coolangatta.

03.01.2022 Today, I had the pleasure of meeting three inspirational young women Xalia, Isabella and Hannah have been part of a team, working in conjunction with Tugun Community Bank Branch to deliver an initiative called Hubble GC. After months of tireless dedication they will see their website, which creates a one-stop-shop for youth services, go live tomorrow ... Congratulations to all the young people involved in this platform

03.01.2022 Flood update Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary will reopen tomorrow!! The Sanctuary and the hospital were inundated with flood waters yesterday, the waters filled the tunnel 3/4 full (and anyone who knows the Sanctuary will appreciate exactly how much flooding they had to deal with if it almost filled the train tunnel ) Great news but, the wildlife hospital team saved all animals and the clean up is happening today and actually, I think the Sanctuary has never looked better! They still very much need local support - so if you’re looking to keep the kids entertained these school holidays Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has you covered!

02.01.2022 It was great to attend the recent trial of Surfers Rescue 24/7 on the Gold Coast by Surfing Queensland Inc. This initiative was developed by Surfing NSW and has been successfully running for years in NSW, but is yet to receive government funding in Queensland. It is a free CPR and board rescue course for recreational surfers, designed to teach surfers CPR skills, basic first aid and how to utilise their own surfboard as a rescue tool to save lives. The idea being that s...urfers populate the beach from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year, on patrolled and unpatrolled beaches, they are responsible for countless, largely unrecorded rescues - so Surfing Queensland wants to provide them with access to formal training to assist in life saving. I personally found the course absolutely brilliant. I have my bronzie (I achieved it as a teenager) but using a short board to perform a rescue is very different from having the buoyancy of a rescue board. I learnt how best to use a smaller board to assist an unconscious swimmer. What worked for me was the leg hook rescue technique, particularly seeing as my rescue partner was TJ Hendy the Ironman, almost twice my size. My board practically sunk with both of us on it and if he was truly unconscious I would have struggled to keep him on it, so using the leg hook technique allowed me to get him in safely. I'd like to see this Surfing Queensland Inc initiative supported in Queensland with state government funding, similar to the government arrangements in NSW and Victoria. With increasing numbers flocking to our gorgeous beaches, these type of programs teach invaluable skills that could save a life. Thanks for having me as a participant Surfing Queensland Inc, you have my full support with this initiative!

02.01.2022 Manufacturing is front and centre of the LNP’s bold economic plan for Queensland that will create jobs. Our plan for manufacturing will restore the 19,000 manufacturing jobs lost under the Palaszczuk Labor Government. We will stop hitting manufacturers with taxes, and reduce their electricity prices by 20 per cent. The LNP believes the products made here by Queenslanders are among the best in the world. Our plan for this industry will create 20,000 new manufacturing jobs and secure the jobs of 163,000 workers. Unlike Labor, the LNP has a plan to get Queensland working again.

02.01.2022 From my family to yours, Merry Christmas Currumbin! Stay safe on our roads this festive season, and all the best for 2021. A huge thanks to Coolangatta SLSC for this iconic Santa photo!

02.01.2022 Our children deserve a world class education - which is why, over the next four years, an LNP Government will hire an additional 3,350 teachers, and 760 teacher aides We will also air condition every state school classroom Investing in schools and providing a world-class education to Queensland kids is a key part of the LNP’s economic plan to get Queensland working again.

02.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who stopped at my recent listening post at The Pines Elanora! It’s always great to get feedback from locals about how we can improve our area. I also met Les Gittus, early next year he is planning on cycling thousands of kilometres around Australia to raise money for Careflight . I’ll keep you updated on his journey!

01.01.2022 What did Labor say to Queensland's hard working doctors and nurses? "Do more." The LNP will hire 2,530 more nurses and midwives and 750 more doctors to fix Labor's health mess.

01.01.2022 BREAKING: BORDER ZONE UPDATE From 1am on 1 October, the border bubble will be extended to include the local government areas of Byron, Ballina, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Glen Innes. Queenslanders will now be able to travel into these local government areas, and residents in these new local government areas will be able to travel into Queensland. ... This is such a win for many in our community. There are many who work or live just outside the border bubble who were impacted by the restricted border zone. I have been advocating strongly in Parliament for common sense rules that would allow locals to more easily get to and from work, and these changes deliver a more consistent and compassionate outcome for our community! In particular I heard many stories from construction workers and medical professionals who lived our worked outside where the bubble would allow them to travel. This is great news for these locals! You will still need to get a border pass to travel into New South Wales. If you need yours printed, my office is willing to provide this service for you.

01.01.2022 Spreading some Christmas cheer Thank you to all of the kids who participated in my Christmas colouring-in competition. It was great to be able to present the prizes in-person to some very talented young artists. Special thanks also to the teachers for encouraging all of their creativity!
