20.01.2022 I'm playing some jazz n' stuff at Foxy On Coolum this Saturday night. We have been running this for quite a few weeks now and every night has been so different! Thank u so much to everyone who has come to play... I love the diversity of people getting up to participate. This is why I do what I do! I just love playing with ya'll. Please feel free to come along and bring an instrument if you'd like. Doesn't matter if it's jazzy or not. Just whatever! Ilana will be making her $29 Giant Foxy Burger special (including entry and a coffee). $10 entry (or a hug if you're skint). 13 Beach Rd Coolum opens 6:30 for dinner and 7:30 music start. See u then. 18.01.2022 Jazz nights at Foxy On Coolum are just becoming so special as more and more people turn up out of the woodwork to share their gifts. Even the audience ends up playing tables with drum sticks and just "whatever goes" at this communal jam. The essence of jazz is really just about improvising and making stuff up so these nights are all about embodying that. I just love jammin and havin fun, so the space is playful, real and well, a bit jazzy. Ilana doesn't run her full menu btw... she has a Tapas Plate and a Giant Foxy Burger available for the special event. Entry $10. Music starts at 7:30pm. See u there! 08.01.2022 I'm back at Foxy On Coolum this Saturday night with my Playground Project! Come bring an instrument, or your voice or your hungry tummy and experience the co-creation of playful music-making and sharing. It's gonna be fun! I love making stuff up and seeing what happens! From jazz tunes and jazzy non-jazz tunes, to improvised looping, to audience percussion shaking, singing, dancing, whatever you want to bring please feel free to come and jam! PS you don't need to participate... if you don't want! Just come BE and hang out! It's all about just coming together because it's nice to connect in such a yummy space. Let's see what happens! 06.01.2022 Tomorrow night for New Years Eve I'm excited to be playing some old school swing tunes with some jazz legends at Foxy On Coolum!! We got a hundred year old piano, we got double bass, we got horns, we got brass, we got jazzy voice and we got fun! Come dressed Great Gatsby style and we'll party like it's 1918! 8pm-midnight. Ilana is making special Foxy Canapés to keep our bellies full while we party and a welcoming drink to get us started! Yay!$50 entry for food / drink / tunes. Walk-ins welcome! Come play! 06.01.2022 Something magical is happening. It's called play. And for me, when we play together, whether that means beaming our appreciation from the sidelines, shaking a maraca , dancing with joy, bringing our gift of music or song or spoken word or whatever we'd like to share, eating yummy food, just being together... well, that's pure magic to me. I love it so much . Foxy On Coolum is supporting community connection and grass roots creativity and so it seems ...like we're gonna get to play here more and more. Where. We. Play. Just. For. Fun. I'd love to invite u to be part of this on Saturday night and into next year. I expect I will change the format and return the project named THE PLAYGROUND but for Saturday night it is named Laura and friends. And that is something I treasure so much. I feel so lucky and honoured to play with u all (it's the stuff of dreams for me), and I am looking forward to so much more fun / community badassery / love / playful shenanigans / creativity / pure connection / frequency-raising life-giving joyfulness as we move forward. Saturday night carries a $10 cover charge but really, if you don't have it, come give me a hug and that's enough for me. Next year I may change to just be a donation-based entry as I want whoever wants to be there, to be there. The jazz jams we've been running have shown us how much we love sharing the love at Foxys so we're going to run a jam session / open mic/ let's-see-what-happens / shared space on Saturday nights. Foxy On Coolum is ALL about community and supporting each other so we want to support YOU to share your music.
