14.01.2022 Laura's wine bar... What can I say... We have lived in Northam for nearly 4 years, and I did pop my head in here one time and never really gave it another chance. Last night, my wife and I had a childless night out (something that never happens). ... We have eaten and watered in literally every restaurant, cafe, and bar between Northam and Toodyay. Admittedly, on a recent family trip to Margaret river a friend of a friend was asking me if I had checked out Brian Klopper's place in Northam? That would be a no (??)... Then I realised he meant Laura's Wine bar. So last night we went... And not for a glass of wine (singular)... We sat inside (Fantastic). We ordered whole bottles of icey chilled prosecco... And admired the super cool architecture. The staff encourage you to take a good look around... And it was just great. If you have a love of architecture and design, this place is a must. The solid brick ceiling, steel doors & windows, polished concrete, and even the lighting that you just never expect to work (literally bare light bulbs, but just great) It's a tiny build, but so well built. Has anyone ever noticed it has 2 roofs? Turns out that it is an old Roman technique. Something that I have driven past and ignored for the better part of 4 years. Brian the living legend himself is still there to have a yarn with. Just great. It will be the regular for us now. We went to Temperance after... Meh. Laura's still wins hands down. If you have not been there, or like me, popped your head in and kept going.... I highly recommend giving it a go. Five stars
