14.01.2022 WHY TRACKING IS KEY : - Same gal, same gym, two very different approaches to training and nutrition! - Both of these girls looooove the gym and train hard! What’s the difference between the two? ... - The Loz on the left smashes the weights session 6 days a week (sometimes seven), and because that isn’t enough, she smashes HIIT on the stairmaster and treadmill most of those days too She finishes her week of training sore, tired and definitely not hitting any new PBs. She tries her best to hit her 1500 calorie a day target (cause that’s what My Fitness Pal) says she should eat, but on the weekends she’s so hungry and tired she tends to fall off the bandwagon. - The Loz on the right takes a smarter approach to training - 5 days a week in the weights room with no planned HIIT cardio to speak of! She religiously tracks her volume in the gym, takes planned rest days, and is getting stronger week after week! She accurately tracks her macros and eats more food than she ever thought she could while looking, feeling + performing her best! Such a filling + satisfying meal with great macros! Eating in a calorie deficit doesn’t mean going hungry! 02.01.2022 BARBELL SQUAT QUEUES + TIPS - Throwing it back to when I could have some heavy weight on my back! The Barbell Squat is hands down my favourite of the big three compound moves - here’s a couple of basic tips that help me squat with my best form: - 1GET COMFORTABLE - Find a stance that’s feels best for you! Some people feel better with a wider or narrower stance - for me it’s slightly wider than shoulder width, with my toes point outwards. ... 2GET TIGHT - Brace your core and back muscles! I focus on squeezing my shoulder blades together, and gripping onto the bar with my hands as firmly as possible. 2BREATHING - Take a big breath in before your descent and hold that breath until your half way back up to your starting position. 3TRY USING A BOX - When trying to get better at hitting depth, try using a short box so that when you tap the box, you’re hitting below parallel. 4KNEES APART - As you squat, imagine pushing the floor apart and drive your knees out in the same direction as your toes - Getting a coach can be the key to improving the little form mistakes you’ve been making that have been holding you back from progressing!
