12.01.2022 Dandelion Medicine . Dandelion root is a traditional tonic for the liver and the blood, and has a rich tradition of tonic use to relieve conditions such as ac...ne, psoriasis, and eczema. . It’s also used to support the body in fasting and cleansing, and can be combined with a number of herbs as a tea for detoxifying the liver and skin. Fine candidates for formulation with dandelion include red clover blooms (Trifolium pratense), cleavers (Galium aparine), stinging nettles (Urtica dioica), burdock root (Arctium lappa and A. minus), violet (Viola sororia and V. odorata), chickweed (Stellaria media), and yellow dock root (Rumex crispus and R. obtusifolius). . Dandelion is a digestive remedy par excellence. It’s best taken solo or in combination with other bitter herbs twenty minutes before eating to prime the digestive system and increase bile excretion. This is an age-old tradition that we'd do well to keep alive, especially considering many of us lack bitter foods in our diets. . 07.01.2022 Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites--commonly referred to as acupunct...ure points, or acupoints. The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. Pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation may further enhance the effects. Other acupoint stimulation techniques include: manual massage, moxibustion or heat therapy, cupping, and the application of topical herbal medicines and linaments. Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on an ancient philosophy that describes the universe, and the body, in terms of two opposing forces: yin and yang. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. Energy, called "qi" (pronounced "chee") flows along specific pathways, called meridians, throughout the body. This constant flow of energy keeps the yin and yang forces balanced. However, if the flow of energy gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, lack of function, or illness. Acupuncture therapy can release blocked qi in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain, and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being. 07.01.2022 Plantar fasciitis sleeping hack. People who sleep on their back or stomach are more prone to plantar fasciitis. This is due to shortening of the calf while sl...eeping In a pointed toe position. If you sleep on your stomach you can place a pillow that is high enough to allow the foot to drop normally or you can also use a rolled up towel. If you sleep on your back the sheets will pull the toes down causing the foot to point. You can place a firm pillow at the bottom of your feet so that it pushes the toes back up. There are also some sleeping splints that you can use and a foot tent that keeps the sheets from pulling the toes down. Do this, some calf stretches, and acupuncture and you will be on the road to walking without pain again. So many suffer from this in silence. Spread the word. 01.01.2022 Incorporating acupuncture into real life. For now, if you have a condition that acupuncture does have scientific backing for, here’s what to expect from a sessi...on: an acupuncture session to last anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, though most of this time may be spent discussing your symptoms and concerns with your practitioner sans needles. The actual treatment portion of acupuncture may last around 30 minutes, though you don’t necessarily have needles in your skin for that long! In terms of results, it’s nearly impossible to say what one should expect, as everyone responds to and experiences acupuncture differently. There is no universal response to acupuncture. Some people feel relaxed and may be a little tired, others feel energized and ready for anything, Kempisty explains. Some people experience an improvement right away and for others, it can take several treatments before noticing a positive change. The most common response to acupuncture, however? People feel happy and content, Kempisty says. It’s hard to put into words but there’s a distinct balanced and harmonious feeling that acupuncture gives most people and it just feels good! You may also feel tired after treatment and see changes in your eating, sleeping, or bowel habits, or experience no changes at all.
