25.01.2022 My business coach Sage Lavine has launched her podcast today. It is fabulous. I am not surprised; I have been following Sage since January 2020. 25.01.2022 I attended an early morning class on mastering self-love with famous visionaries and transformation leaders from around the world. It was fabulous. After the class, I was googling self-love, and this definition from Wikipedia came up. I was equally surprised and not surprised by this answer. Self-love defined as "love of self" or "regard for one's own happiness or advantage" has both been conceptualized as a basic human necessity and as a moral flaw, akin to vanity a...nd selfishness, synonymous with amour propre, conceit, conceitedness, egotism, et al. If this description of self-love is true, that it's conceited and a flaw, then we are placing a huge block in our ability to be loving, kind, gentle and compassionate with ourselves. And, then it is more difficult to be unconditionally loving with another. However, when we give this love to ourselves, when we talk to ourselves like a beloved child or friend, we feel happier, more accepting, more peaceful, and more joyful, and it radiates through us. This difficult time we are facing right now is a wake-up call to come home to our very essence, the essence of love. We are love. Be it, shine it, nurture it, spread it. Being self-loving is a choice, yes it takes practice, yes it takes commitment, yes it is a journey, a life long journey. And we can start exactly where we are now. Build new neural pathways, create new habits, kindle self-love by speaking affirmations, look at yourself in the mirror and really connect with you inside you, place your hand on your heart and tell yourself that you are loved, loving, worthy, deserving, beautiful, amazing, wonderful and unique, the perfect expression of the Divine made manifest in you. 22.01.2022 Mindset shift: You don’t need to work more to make more money. One of the biggest blocks I find women have is the mindset of more money means more work, when that’s not the case at all. But nine times out of 10, we are so busy that we can’t see how stuck we really are and we couldn’t cope with more work.... Going for a promotion or looking for a new job leaves us feeling anxious and even more stressed. In fact, you don’t need more work. You actually need less work, so you have time to figure out what you really want and for other opportunities to come into your life. Once you stop working so much you open yourself up to more love, wealth and opportunities and you will start to feel more confident. You’ll be thanked more and appreciated more. You’ll be looked after. You’ll make more money and you’ll start to enjoy life again. But you have to do the inside work to reap the reward of happiness and freedom. 15.01.2022 Boundaries - we know we need them but they can be hard to do. Brené Brown, social researcher and author says the most compassionate people are those with the firmest boundaries. I think this is true because it's when we let people step over our limits, we become hurt, resentful and act out in ways that may hurt the other person as well as ourselves (we feel anxious, bad or ruminate over what we said). We may be passive-aggressive or we overdo it like the volcano that er...upts. Boundaries need to be planned and committed to and when we do, they are like a muscle that will strengthen with regular practice. 11.01.2022 The more I elevate the love I feel for myself the less I need to judge (myself or others). I can accept me in all my humanity knowing that I am doing the best I know how to at the time. And this provides the space to enquire into those parts of self (both the dark shadow and the golden shadow) that are scared, hiding, and defended.... And as they gain confidence in my kindness, acceptance and love they can start to show themselves more and more and ‘grow-up.’ So now I am empowered by my inner coach, who encourages and is patient (everything that we have been craving since being little children) and the inner critic is calmer and can let go of the fervent attention she employed to keep me safe. I am no longer judging my inner critic, instead I thank her and understand her role and how essential she has been for me so far. Dalai Lama I love the skill of reframing and use it a lot in coaching and counselling with my clients. ... And I use it for me too. Hearing an old Huey Lewis song I was taken back to a time when I was 19 and travelling in far north QLD. It was a glorious holiday with my beautiful friend Sandy. But that song reminded me of something else and I immediately felt a constriction in my heart When I tuned into with curiosity I recognised it as shame and regret. Using tapping which if you’ve not used it before is a tool that reduces stress in the body and allows reframing to occur through the return of blood to your prefrontal cortex (higher brain ) I was able to see the positive things I had learned from that experience, the decisions I made and have been applying into my life since.
