23.01.2022 Quirindi Eventing CCN 2nd CCN* Ebony Royal owned by Jan Mastin 5th CCN* Ostianato owned by Laura, Irene and Simon Smith 4th CCN*** Sky’s da Limit ... What a fun weekend!! It was incredible to be able to share the event with so many of my close supporters, particularly Mum (Shelley Browne) and Amanda Holden . Ebony keeps going from strength to strength. This weekend we were able to consolidate on her reliable dressage. She jumped superbly, only adding one rail to her dressage score of 28.9. Catch ride Ostianato (Gordie), exceeded my expectations! After only a handful of rides, we managed a respectable dressage score of 34.6. He then shone in the jumping phases, picking up zero penalties. Thankyou Laura for the ride, and I look forward to continuing to work with you, and Gordie. Zazu put in three solid performances across the weekend. He felt amazing XC, slowly gaining more and more confidence around the course . Thankyou to Quirindi Eventing for putting on a fantastic event, over the Easter long weekend. 10.01.2022 It’s been a while since I have had this special person sitting by an arena - Shelley Browne . This is the first time I have seen a family member since December 2019. It was incredibly nice to get a hug from Mum yesterday and be able to share our place with her . 07.01.2022 ~ NALA ~ 2016 mare, standing at approx 16hh, by Albrecht x Dashing Miss. Nala has attended jump clubs, dressage days and successfully competed up to eva80. She had a very short lived racing career as she was too slow. Nala is ready to continue her performance horse career with all the basics well established. 06.01.2022 Tamworth CCI Delamerie Chocolate Supreme ~ 4th eva80 Ebony Royal owned by Jan Mastin ~ 13th CCI* Sky’s da Limit CCI****... Jaffa - what a special girl you are!! Jaffa returned to work earlier this year after 5.5yrs as a broodmare. This was her first event back and she performed and behaved like an old pro, finishing on her dressage score of 33.1. Ebony is becoming stronger and more confident at 1 star level. I love listening to Jan’s commentary in the video, as she jumps every jump with Ebony and I. Zazu performed a nice test and show jumped very well to be sitting 6th heading into the xc. Usually you would class this as our strongest phase; however it was not meant to be. The time away has made both Zazu and I a little rusty at 4 star level. While we started out well on course, an error in my judgement caused a ‘glance off’ at a corner. This ‘glance off’ affected me later in the course at a similar jump; resulting in me walking home. Their is a first time for everything! While very annoyed at myself; as riders we do sometimes make mistakes. I will learn from this, and move forward! 04.01.2022 ~ 2020 ~ while it has been a crazy and unusual year, for me, it has still been filled with many amazing adventures! Nothing will surpass getting engaged to Blake Holden and buying our first property together ! Having the horses at home with us, is unbelievably special. We still have a lot to do to the property; but to see how much it has changed in 6months blows my mind! The competition scene was quiet, but the training at home was anything but!! The horses all continued ...to progress, and it was nice to have time to focus on fine tuning new areas. Thankyou to my clients for your continued support. I am very privileged to work with dedicated riders and beautiful horses. I look forward to sharing the journey with you in 2021! Unfortunately covid restrictions have meant that I haven’t been able to share my adventures with some of the people closest to me . It’s been the longest I have gone without seeing my parents - and yes even when you get older, sometimes you just want a hug from Mum and Dad! One day (soon hopefully), I will catch up with friends and family in WA to reminisce about the year that was! To my ever supportive sponsors - THANKYOU! 02.01.2022 Quirindi has temporarily closed entries for the ODE scheduled for the 3rd & 4th April. Hopefully we will be able re-open entries later in the week with no late ...fee. The course is very wet and we cant get onto the course to prepare. There are lots of weeds, holes and the water jump is flooded. The forecast is for dry weather later in the week and we will try our hardest to run the event but at this stage we are waiting to see if it is possible. If you have already entered and have been affected by floods and/or evacuations and don’t think you will be able to come to Quirindi please advise and we will refund. Fingers crossed, Vicki
