21.01.2022 Hi there! We are almost at the end of the year - thank goodness! It’s a few event syndicated across NSW Public libraries and I will be zooming to you from Sutherland library. ... Here is the link if you’re interested in joining us! Thanks so much for your support this year it has been wonderful http://www.sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au//Lauren-Chater-in-co

21.01.2022 Hi all! I hope this Monday finds you well and safe. There's till time to book into my author talk tomorrow night at Sutherland Library - I will be zooming into your house at 700Pm! (Previous post said 630pm ooops!) You just need to register in advance As a little taster, or if you can't make the talk, I've converted a short powerpoint presentation about some of the research behind Gulliver's Wife. We will, I'm sure, go into more depth tomorrow night but for now, I hope you enjoy the video and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have tomorrow about the research, the publishing industry or writing books. See you then!

18.01.2022 I was delighted to be asked to take part in this Q&A for the Feminist Writers’ Festival, not least because it forced me to dig into my adolescent past and think about how those experiences inform my current work.

18.01.2022 I had so much fun doing this interview! Readings staff are lovely. So glad I got to meet a few of them the week before the apocalypse... I mean the pandemic hit.

16.01.2022 Thanks Jade for including Gulliver’s Wife I hope you enjoy it! (Also what a great stack... stack envy )

16.01.2022 Kate’s recommendations are always SPOT ON! Check them out if you’re looking for something new to read.

14.01.2022 Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! Despite the disruption I hope you have a good break with your family x

14.01.2022 Hello friends How are you? What are you reading? I can’t believe it’s November already! Almost Christmas. What a YEAR. But it’s nearly over... deep breaths. I’m just popping in to tell you about two events I have coming up . They’re both online of course but that’s to keep us all safe ... The first is an online bookclub I’m dropping into tonight for Global Girls Bookclub. It starts at 7pm and promises to be a lot of fun! Also a nice distraction from the US election - I can’t watch anymore, I’ve chewed my nails up to my elbows. https://m.facebook.com/events/347771676645208?acontext=%7B%22source%22%3A%223%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D&aref=3 The second event is a syndicated library talk via Sutherland Library with the wonderful Meg Keneally. It’s happening on 12th November. I’ll post a link to that soon. Stay safe and hope to see you (virtually) soon

13.01.2022 Thrilled to be included in Jade’s specially curated list of books perfect for Valentine’s Day (or any day really ) Thanks Jade, I hope you have a lovely Gal/Valentine’s day!

09.01.2022 My wonderful agent Tara Wynne is the special guest this week on the HNSA’s blog. Tara is an absolute gun and I feel so lucky to know her! She shares her insights into publishing historical fiction here and some tips for those planning to enter the HNSA’s new historical writing prize. Enjoy!

03.01.2022 Happy Friday! I hope you are staying safe and that you’ve found some reading time this week. Although I am deep in the writing of this next book, I wanted to tell you about a wonderful writing opportunity my friend Cassie is offering at the absolutely beautiful Dickerson gallery in Woollahra. Cassie is an experienced writer and a genuinely lovely human being. She’s decided to share some of her experience by providing a safe space for writers of all levels to progress their manuscripts. I’m always in awe of writers who share their knowledge - if I had any idea what I was doing I would offer classes too! If you’re looking for a kickstart to your writing practice or just a quiet space to get some words down, do check out her site. https://cassiehamer.com/urban-writing-retreat/

01.01.2022 Hi friends, I just wanted to check in and let you know I’m still alive. It’s been quiet on here as I have been working hard on my next novel. Things have been a little stressful as I’ve been juggling children, writing, research and uni it’s enough to make a girl crazy! As part of my research for this novel, I enrolled in a dive course and I can now say I have an open water certification which is kind of cool. I recently rediscovered the lovely Book Station at Caringbah - it...’s just as good as I remember but the new location is divine! I hope to be finished this draft of The Winter Dress by November. Then it’s into Editing Land. Cross your fingers for me. The process is unpredictable sometimes and I’m sure you’ll appreciate how long a good book takes to write Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I wish you good health and even better books.
