25.01.2022 Over the break, I have been completing my NZ Specialist training, ready for when borders open! It's the first place on my list to revisit. My husband's family are from the North Island, which adds to the appeal of going back. But it's just such a great destination - great wine, yummy food, fresh air, relaxed pace, beautiful scenery, friendly people, not far to fly and inexpensive - it really ticks all the boxes! This is one of my favourite memories from our last trip, on Cardona mountain, after a nice hot chocolate! What is your favourite memory of NZ?

23.01.2022 Happy New Year! We welcomed this little cutie into our lives early in the year. What an asset to the happiness levels she has been, in what has been an incredibly challenging year. In 2021 I am really looking forward to getting back to combining my passion for travel with my love of helping people. ... Wishing you all a safe and happy start to the new year, and may we all be blessed with open borders!!

22.01.2022 Have you been dreaming of an international holiday to a spectacular country "across the ditch" I know I have!! Please get in touch if you'd like any help

21.01.2022 We still cant travel too far, but if you're in NSW here are a few ideas which are within your backyard :)

21.01.2022 One of my favourite parts of helping people with their travel plans, is the relationships that develop over the years... I received this beautiful card from a lovely client ~ " Dear Lauren, thank you very much for your care and attention. It has been very much appreciated. I hope it will not be too long before we meet up again and share a champagne. Best wishes, M." ... I consider it a privilege to be involved in the travel plans of all my clients. So thank you!

20.01.2022 I've read today that a survey showed Singapore was #2 on a list of most desired travel destinations once travel restrictions are lifted. And I just so happened to have received a beautiful care package of goodies from them! I think I might keep it for the first client who books a trip to Singapore!... It's one of my favourite cities, so much more than a stopover destination. Great for families, extremely clean, fun, and close. Can you guess where else was in the top 5??

20.01.2022 Happy Valentine's Day

19.01.2022 A TRAVEL STORY FROM HAMILTON ISLAND The reason we planned the trip was... we enjoy travelling but hadn't been on a family trip (with 3 kids) to Hamilton Island before, and Lauren highly recommended it Our favourite thing about planning our trip was... talking to Lauren about the things you could do on Hamilton Island and learning about the app! ... The highlights were ... the kids loved the free catamarans, seeing turtles while snorkelling, and jet boating. I really enjoyed the helicopter flight over Whitehaven Beach, it was beautiful! Three words to describe our trip ... NOT LONG ENOUGH We loved that we didn't have to,,, eat out every night. We stayed in a holiday home, the IGA was super convenient and reasonably priced, and the produce was fresh. The best thing that happened was... our friends from Brisbane flew up to surprise us, it was great to catch up for some poolside cocktails and watch the sunset from One Tree Hill Something to pass onto future visitors... Book a holiday home, you have the freedom to do your own thing. Being a family of 5 there was plenty of room for us to spread out in the house. Make sure a buggy is included with your package and book early into restaurants through the app to avoid missing out, especially if you have kids who eat free! Any other comments... Visit Whitehaven Beach, it's absolutely stunning! Give Lauren a call to organise your next trip to Hamilton Island, you won't be disappointed. Aww thanks so much TK! Great to see your pics and hear about your trip, Hamilton Island never disappoints! Please get in touch if you have a few days up your sleeve to unwind :)

19.01.2022 Thanks Perry, glad you enjoyed the Marriott Kauai - such a beautiful spot!

17.01.2022 The lovely Reef View Hotel on Hamilton Island is home for the weekend! Stunning views, lovely restaurant, across the road from Catseye Beach & walking distance to the marina. Excellent option for 4 star hotel with a view

17.01.2022 12 years ago I took a leap of faith and started my travel business! It's been an absolute pleasure and privilege to have been a part of so many trips - with adventures such as swimming with the whales in Tonga, successful climbs of Mt Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, Mt Toubkal (same clients!), Disney cruises, wilderness cabins in Alaska, family reunions in Italy, Antarctic cruises, surfing trips & weddings in Fiji, marriage proposal trips in Bali and New York, honeymoons in Tahit...i, babymoons in Vanuatu, trips to see Gorillas in Rwanda, sporting trips in the UK, 40th birthdays in Sardinia, ski trips to NZ and Japan, epic round world journeys, Melbourne Cup packages, business trips to Korea, Dubai, Kuwait, not to mention having to bribe a consular official to release clients passports!! There's never a dull moment, that's for sure! Such a wonderful and diverse world we live in, and I'm so grateful to be a part of all of your amazing adventures. Thank you! #TravelManagers

17.01.2022 I can't believe it’s been almost 12 months since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic. It has certainly been a challenging time. Since the pandemic began, I have spent hundreds of hours sourcing refunds from suppliers and rescheduling travel arrangements, across the globe on behalf of my clients. The closure of our international borders and the continued unpredictability of our domestic borders has also impacted my business significantly. We have been hoping for a travel... bubble between Australia and neighbouring countries since the middle of last year but have repeatedly seen those options pushed back when new cases have occurred. One year on, I find myself sitting back and reflecting on why I’m still here; why I’m pushing on despite the hurdles; and why I’m excited about the future of travel and our combined participation. It all comes back to my "why". I started because I love travel, I love enabling personal connection both with our traveling companions and with the amazing countries, cultures & people we visit along the way. I want to share that passion with as many people as possible. And while the opportunity to clear customs (and at times our own driveways) has been on hold for longer than hoped, my passion remains. Australians are itching to travel again, and I’m eager to be there and make it happen when we get the green light. It’s difficult to know exactly when that will be, but I am keeping up to date with the latest information. What I am confident of though, is that 2022 will be a bumper year and I have my sights firmly set on the recovery it will bring. I would love to hear from you, learn what’s been happening in your life and chat about your travel plans. I’m still here and available to help you get going, whether it’s planning for something big in 2022 or seeing a little more of our own backyard this year. And what a lucky bunch we are to have the spectacular backyard we do. "Without a travel manager, you're on your own"

15.01.2022 Hey everyone, my new website has just been launched - let me know what you think! https://www.travelmanagers.com.au/ptm/LaurenCompton/

14.01.2022 As a Travel Manager, the last 12 months certainly have been quite a rollercoaster! But through it all, I haven't lost my passion for travel or helping people get away for a well-earned break Ever since I started my career as a travel manager back in 2000 I've always been excited by my job that allows me to delve into the world of travel and help people on a daily basis. I feel blessed to do work that I truly love. Although knocked around by Covid, travel opportunities a...re starting to reappear - especially within our beautiful country - and I'm very happy to be back contributing to and supporting our domestic tourism economy. Need a holiday? Let me organise it for you! DM me for details

14.01.2022 One of my favourite things about travelling is enjoying the amazing local cuisine AND not having to cook! What is yours? #IMauritius

13.01.2022 I know it's very concerning, especially with so many of us having credits with Virgin. Here is an update from them. Administrator Vaughan Strawbridge said "Our intention is to undertake a process to restructure and refinance the business and bring it out of administration as soon as possible"... Like with the whole daily situation, we just have to sit tight and see how it plays out. There is mention of interested parties in the recapitalization of the business, and I am optimistic that they will continue to operate. Time will tell. We are all doing a bloody amazing job of stopping the spread of Covid19. Let's hope we can get back to some kind of normality soon. Stay safe x

12.01.2022 What do you think? Could you do 19 hours non stop? I'm thinking Business Class - YES, Economy Class - hell NO :)

12.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone

12.01.2022 I mean, I don't know about you, but is this not the most gorgeous beach you've ever seen? 7km of pristine beach, voted #1 beach in the South Pacific in Trip Advisors Travellers Choice awards. 11.01.2022 Today one of my clients is embarking on an amazing adventure of epic proportions! I'm super excited to see her travels unfold - first stop Galapagos islands, then some jaguar spotting in the Pantanal, climbing the Inca Trail, quick city stop in Rio before Iguazu Falls, Buenos Aires, beautiful Bariloche and some hiking in Patagonia, before an Antarctic cruise! Thanks to #GAdventures and #ContoursTravel for all their assistance!

10.01.2022 The stunning Beach Club, on Catseye Beach. Beautiful understated luxury, can't beat the location. Great for couples - one of my absolute faves

10.01.2022 Thank you Tara for taking the time to post this to my page! Enjoy your honeymoon!

10.01.2022 Hi everyone, I've been flat out of late as you can imagine, but I've been meaning to check in with you all! It's hard to comprehend what is happening at the moment, COVID-19 has sent the whole world into a spin. With things changing on a daily basis, it is difficult to be proactive and contact you all in regards to your bookings. ... For those who have contacted me, please be patient. At the moment my first priority is to get people home. I am working with clients currently in Madagascar, Vietnam and Milan, battling airport closures, border closures and ever-changing information. A lot of airlines and travel suppliers are waiving fees, for some dates but not others, for some destinations but not others. For some existing travellers but not others. Insurance companies have a general exclusion for "infectious diseases, pandemics or epidemics" which makes it even more difficult to deal with each situation, given there's likely to be large sums of money lost. Whilst we are receiving information from airlines and suppliers regularly, each trip is unique and it's not uncommon to spend literally hours on hold to get an answer. Which can then be superseded by new information coming to hand. Your cancellation requests will be dealt with in order of departure date unless there is an urgency for the alternative. For those travelling later in the year a "wait and see" approach is best. For any concerns you have, email is the best way to contact me. There's no doubt the next few months will be tough, however I would like to assure you that my business isnt going anywhere. Any monies you have paid are safe. Either with the supplier, or in the Travel Managers audited trust account. Travel agents have survived because we are able to adapt to whatever comes our way, we genuinely care, and we provide what the internet cannot - reassurance, service and a long lasting human connection. So when it's safe to travel again, look online, but please support and book through a local Australian travel agent. Your understanding and support mean the world right now, so thank you in advance for your patience, and I can't wait to hear your happy travel stories when you return from your travels, whenever that may be! Stay safe, Your Personal Travel Manager, Lauren
