23.01.2022 Existing drawings of the old girl we purchased at the end of last year... on first inspection, we were excited because we thought it was a bit bigger than our current home, a workers’ cottage in West Mackay, but it turns out that it has quite a challenging layout..... or perhaps the layout is fine but our design brief is challenging! Let the space planning and brainstorming continue!

11.01.2022 {A MOMENT IN TIME} I love how old houses have layers upon layers... and every layer tells a story and marks a moment in time...... I’ve just found the newspaper article which was layered here under the linoleum on National Library of Australia TROVE and it is about Members Enrolled in Mackay Girl Guides - address by Lady Dalrymple. It is dated Thursday 21 Oct 1926, page 2 Daily Mercury. We were told that the house was built in the 1940s by Frank Cowley (at 50 Carlyle Street, Mackay). It was moved to Mt Jukes about 14 years ago. But maybe it was built earlier....... Someone from Have you seen the Old Mackay might be able to help....

04.01.2022 I saw these contrasting buildings on my walk along Flinders Street in Townsville this morning. The building on the left is how the oldest commercial building in Mackay currently looks. But it could definitely look as grand as the building on the right..... #savetheoldcommonwealthbank
