22.01.2022 From the Premier Mark McGowan We've been calling on Western Australian workers to take up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get out across our State and take up important regional jobs. For many regional agriculture businesses, ensuring they can attract enough seasonal workers in the coming months is absolutely vital - so we're providing some additional incentives to help workers get out there and fill those roles.... Under the new State Government rebate scheme, eligible workers who move to the regions for agricultural work will be able to claim up to $40 a night in accommodation rebates for up to 12 weeks up to a maximum total rebate of $3360. A travel allowance will be also made available to those relocating more than 100 kilometres from their usual place of residence. Workers will be able to claim $150 for travel to the Peel, South West, Great Southern, Wheatbelt, Mid West or Goldfields-Esperance regions, $350 for travel to the Gascoyne or Pilbara, and $500 for travel to the Kimberley. We're also calling on the Federal Government to do more to promote the sector and incentivise Western Australians to take up these opportunities. The rebate scheme will come into effect on 21 September - more information about submitting a claim can be found here: www.dpird.wa.gov.au/regional-workers-scheme Now's the time to work and wander out yonder and experience our unique State in a way you never have before. To see what opportunities are available please visit www.workandwander.wa.gov.au

01.01.2022 Today, 20 November, is White Ribbon Day. White Ribbon Australia is asking all Australians to be part of the movement to end men’s violence against women. One of their key messages this year is that communities and workplaces best understand the challenges that they face, and everyone needs to consider their own role in creating change.... In WA there are many great individuals, organisations, groups and sectors involved in addressing the drivers and impacts of violence against women. #WhiteRibbonDay is a timely reminder that we still have lots of work to do, and that men have an important role in preventing violence. Show your support by helping to raise awareness, and committing to action to prevent men’s violence against women.
