07.01.2022 The reason I take photos of women is to redirect how people think of women. I am not ashamed to say that my country Vanuatu has a high rate of violence against women. I am from the pacific, Vanuatu I said that specifically because when I talk about my passion, my lecturers agreed that there’s a big issue of gender inequality in Vanuatu and around the pacific. We are so easy to say we are proud to be from the paradise amazing Vanuatu. We are proud just to show off, we are pr...oud just to make us look good. I am from Vanuatu, a woman that my rights have been oppressed my entire life. I am not blaming my parents, my community and my country. We need to educate ourselves as a citizen. Just listen and learn from women who speak up their rights. I just want you to be aware of your actions as a man, in your house, in the community and the country. Let’s be proud of respecting women and their rights. That’s the happiness we want in Vanuatu. But not a smiley face with the hurt feelings behind closed doors. Be responsible, accountable and a role model to your kids, community and Vanuatu . Be the change !!
