Aussies are gonna have to fight aussies and its about time. It took something like a pandemic to make it happen but lets see these matchups, the up and comers vs the up and comers, the vets that have been circling each other for ten years but still havent fought. Its time we worked out whos the best in Australia before we send our people who havent in cleaned up their own backyard, to get cleaned up overseas anyway Just a thought

16.01.2022 Another one of sammys last batch of fighters was @kinghenryelsegundo Henry Torres. The will of a warrior who never ducked a challenge and always wanted the hardest fight which belied his amount of fights he had. For a guy with only 20 ish amateur bouts, a couple of wins at the national amateur tournament and only three pro fights with what equated to a basic but very effective Mexican style fighter he took on the boxers that nobody else did at the time. Henry was tough as nai...ls and had that South American chin heart and determination. Hands always held high and you knew if you threw at this bloke, he was throwing back at you with double the number of punches and a harnessed fury. Greener pastures called him on to other things but we will never forget the thrills you gave us all in the ring and the path you blazed for us to take over the reigns at laverton boxing See more

15.01.2022 Tools of the trade - before every fight we take special care to make sure the fighters hands are wrapped properly in a special way with all the right equipment sanctioned by the board of boxing control. Getting this right is key, one wrong move and your fighter could injure his only weapons Lucas is a pleasure to wrap his hands as his cool calm demeanour rubs off on everybody in the room taking what is naturally a pretty tense situation and turning it on its head #lavertonboxing #thrillermiller #toolsofthetrade

12.01.2022 The art of hit and not be hit for my eye is about Being calm under fire, its a massive thing that all elite boxers have. Forged over years of drills and sparring this is one of the hardest things a boxer can master The calmness in offence and defense, the calmness of their breathing when under return fire. The calmness to watch a shot sail right by your exposed chin only to have given him that false target to immediately take it away and make him pay for the trying to do what... hes supposed to do (hit you on the chin) by throwing that peach of a counter shot Something we all need to practice in the current corona virus world is staying calm under fire, this isnt just boxing related but life related! 09.01.2022 It’s been a tragic year in boxing but none of them cuts deeper than this one and hits really close to home. Dwight was an absolute gentleman, a character that I’m glad to have had the pleasure to have met. Watching him up close and personal, the way he could make you miss and make you pay while sparring was astonishing. He had an old school style that was beautiful to watch. Tenacious, hard nosed and unflappable with a style even a non boxing fan would love to watch live and a very underrated defence in tow. You wouldnt want to get stuck on the ropes against this fella. As you can tell by this photo he’s pretty damn happy when he’s inside the ring. Even in a loss, look at that smile on his face. One of the most natural talented to walk through the gym doors it’s shame he didn’t start boxing a few years earlier as... he has all the tools. A gun undefeated 10-0 amateur with a state title to boot in those amateur ranks. Defensively savvy with a crafty game he Turned pro and turned heads and then put on an absolute classic for the paying fans in only his 5th fight for the Victorian state title. He rocked up to our gym over a year or so ago and made some nice strides in his game while also continuing his success in the run. I think he had three fights for us and went 2-1 as well as taking a professional MMA fight in the mean time against an absolute beast on the mat. Will is a tall volume guy who never ever ever gets tired or asks for water, unless you put him out, I back this fella in almost any ...no time limit fight! 05.01.2022 So proud of our boys yesterday! Both had their best performances under us and by a fair distance, proud to say the least William Ian mate it all clicked in that last round for ya, the whole year of training lead to that moment and it was beautiful to watch you almost Klitschko your way to a victory. That bloke was tough and could punch and you took his best (while still making it close in the first two tounds) and turned the fight on it’s head that last round and nattered him... from pillar to post. Next years gonna be even better, improving every time out there Luke Morrison maaaaaate, so damn impressed with your performance, you looked a consummate pro out there at times. But it’s not the fight that impressed me, it’s the turning point I seen this week. You can do anything after this mate. You pushed it more than I thought you could mentally and took this fight head on through all the obstacles only we know about. You’ve always been a brother and friend, but you proved more to me this week than in 16 years of friendship. All of us agree on it, this made you into a proper man regardless of the result and I’m telling you, if you want it bad enough there’s no reason you can’t go pro And while I’m here, I’m always one to champion the phrase ‘a close fight is not a robbery’ and I hate the over use of the word But luke was robbed blind by the judges yesterday. He dominated and it’s just bad to see people put in all this work and to have to lose not because of their actions, But incompetency. I’ll just leave it at that
