24.01.2022 Just when we thought we’d struggle to get a cricket season in with Covid’s 2nd wave rearing its ugly head, we find ourselves just a few days out from the senior season starting albeit only 6 weeks late. Just a few things to clear up about the season. 1. Will be all one day matches, actually 14 of them for Saturday grades and 12 for Sunday grades... 2. Fielding 6 senior teams. 1st and 2nd XI in Division 3, our 3rds in C1, 4ths in C3 and our two Sunday teams in D2 (Laverton Black & Laverton White) 3. No afternoon teas provided, all players to bring their own food and drink. 4. The current mask rules will be adhered to. If you’re batting, bowling or fielding no mask is required. But if your team is batting and you’re waiting to go in, your mask has to stay on. 5. When acting as a umpire and/or square leg umpire, you must have a mask on. 6. Players are to arrive all dressed and ready to warmup/play. Once play has concluded, it’s time to go home Get in, play, then go home For spectators, while play is taking place please socially distance from the players where possible and adhere to the mask rules. And check in using the QR code. The clubrooms will be closed except to get necessary equipment out. The council and the association will have people out and about making sure the chief health officers directions are being adhered to, so do the right thing otherwise we risk our ground and pavilion arrangements with the council being ripped up! Most importantly, stay away if you or a loved one/close contact are not well, and get tested! We hope to see you all at some stage during the season, until then take care and stay safe! 22.01.2022 A fair bit of horticultural work has taken place at AB Shaw Reserve over the last week or so. It’s great to see some initiative taken by the council in doing this and giving members of our proud community some work during this pandemic. Secondly, congratulations to all councillors on your wins in the recent council elections. 21.01.2022 Attention All Senior Players, As tomorrow is a public holiday, there will be no training on Melbourne Cup day. Please see attached the dates for training for the next 3 weeks leading into the first game.

20.01.2022 Senior training, Sunday Nov 15th is cancelled.

18.01.2022 Best of luck to our juniors who begin their season this weekend. The Under 11 Cubs taking on Newport Digman Cricket Club at AB Shaw Reserve tomorrow afternoon from 5:15pm and; The Under 13s side this year will be a combined side with the Altona Roosters Cricket Club and will play of a Saturday morning, home games being at Laverton. The fixture hasn’t been released yet, but should be available ASAP.... Both clubs were slightly short of players and a combined side was the best way to get the kids a game in a full team. Thanks to the WRJCA and the Altona Roosters for their help in facilitating this arrangement. Let’s get behind all the kids as we finally get the show on the road!!
