25.01.2022 If you're out and about in Darwin this weekend, check out the newly revamped Austin Lane and Spain Place! With improved paving and lighting, along with trees, seating and shading, this space will come alive with street parties and many other community activities and events this year. This project was part of the $200 million Darwin City Deal, supporting 40 jobs for Territorians while making the CBD an even better place to spend time and support local business.

23.01.2022 Riding for the Disabled in the Top End is holding it’s 2020 Open Day this Saturday at Marlows Lagoon from 10am - 2pm. There will be pony rides, face painting, fairy floss, live music, kids games and much more. I was pleased to donate a voucher for the sausage sizzle and it was great to have Kyra drop into the Electorate Office today to collect it looking lovely in her cowboy boots!

21.01.2022 The Palmerston Recreation Centre is currently celebrating the opening of the Creative Palmerston Art Journal Project. Featuring 25 wonderful handmade art journals by local artists, the exhibition will be on view Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm and Saturday 10am - 12pm until the 29 September, there’s some really beautiful pieces in the collection

19.01.2022 Today, a major step has been taken in the development of the largest renewable energy system in the world right here in the Territory. The milestone agreement signed today provides a roadmap for our Government and Sun Cable to work in partnership towards the 22 billion dollar Australia-ASEAN Power Link project, which will see up to 8 billion dollars invested in the NT, with the sunny Barkly region chosen for the solar farm and battery storage facility. Power from this sit...e will be available 24/7, with a 30GW storage facility supported by the solar farm providing a reliable, affordable energy supply, unlocking the potential for a green manufacturing hub in Darwin. Creating 1,500 jobs during construction and 350 ongoing positions, this project shows confidence for investing in both the NT and in renewable energy, which is good for the environment as well as our economy.

17.01.2022 Upgrades to the Palmerston Bus Interchange Park and Ride will begin tomorrow, to deliver an improved, safer experience for passengers. This project will provide: Increased car parking capacity from 33 to 88 sealed bays; Improved safety for pedestrians and vehicles;... Better car park lighting; and Priority bus access to reduce delays. The park and ride facilities will be closed during construction, with works expected to be completed by June this year. It was wonderful to see 22 boys who completed year 12 this year who had started in the Clontarf program in year 7 and gone through their secondary education with Clontarf mentor Jamie McLean. 15.01.2022 Cavenagh Street bus stop is back! This project is another Territory Government initiative to revitalising Darwin and improving amenities for commuters. Following the completion of Garramilla Boulevard, we have revamped the Cavenagh Street bus stop and upgraded it to a safe, bustling hub. ... With 14 different bus routes using this bus stop, we have implemented the new B-light which means buses will merge safely into the intersection before other traffic.

11.01.2022 In Katherine getting a guided tour of the Katherine Water Treatment Facility. Checked out the work underway for the PFAS Water Treatment Plant being done by Norbuilt and their sub-contractors. Also the work on replacing the roof on one of the water storage tanks being done by Halikos Roofing. Plenty of work and jobs in Katherine! Thank you to the Power and Water staff for your time.

I am a big advocate and strong supporter of the value of junior sport in the lives of kids. Thank you to the coaches, umpires and especially the committee members who make it happen - and of course families and the players!

09.01.2022 Tonight the Telugu Association of the NT Tant Darwin celebrated the auspicious occasion of Ugadi 2021. Ugadi is celebrated as the New Year’s Day and one of the rituals is to put up mango leaf decorations. There was plenty of music, dancing and delicious food. Thank you TANT for your hospitality.

09.01.2022 Today I was pleased to announce that in March our Government supported around 240 local jobs, with 55 construction contracts awarded to local businesses valued at $54 million. These contracts included: Sealing 10kms of Maryvale Road in Alice Springs; Subdivision works in Borroloola;... Various design and construct Truck Parking Bays in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and the Katherine region to support our freight industry; and Upgrading the Stuart Highway and Chinner Road intersection. With 18 procurements currently out to market valued at $44 million, we continue to invest in quality infrastructure and ensuring a ongoing pipeline of work for Territorians, supporting industry and economic growth.

09.01.2022 We are fighting Gamba Grass! The Territory Labor Government has stepped up the fight against Gamba with the creation of the Gamba Army. The Gamba Army will provide up to 45 jobs focussed on attacking Gamba in priority areas such as Litchfield National Park, Casuarina Coastal Reserve and Charles Darwin National Park. ... This is an additional $500,000 investment by our Government to combat this highly flammable and invasive weed. Territory NRM

09.01.2022 Today I headed out to have a look at the progress of the Litchfield Park Road and the new bridge over the Finniss River. Two long term Territory companies Ostojic Group are All Cast NT are on track to have the project completed by the end of the year. It’s been a long time coming, but when completed I think this will become a wonderful tourist drive - and of course a great road for locals! Beautiful country out that way.

08.01.2022 Today we released a policy position paper and consultation papers on the Northern Territory Electricity Market Priority Reform Program. An important step towards our target of 50% renewables by 2030. Addressing system security, reliability and efficiency, encouraging private investment, and maximising the amount of renewable power in our network are the focus points of the final position paper on dispatch and settlement and consultation papers on essential system services and reliability reforms. The Electricity Market Priority Reform Program will assist Government in delivering clean, reliable and affordable power for Territorians . Stakeholders are invited to make submissions now.

07.01.2022 The Mango Roads project will upgrade and seal 15 kilometres of dirt roads in the Darwin rural area providing a major boost for mango farms and regional packing sheds in the area. Supporting 109 jobs during construction - upgrading these roads will: Protect the quality of mangos destined for Australian and international markets; Encourage further investment in the industry and increase production and profitability for growers.... Aldebaran Contracting, a local Territory company are doing the work.

07.01.2022 Upgrades to 22 bus stops across Palmerston, Darwin city and the northern suburbs are now complete! This $700,000+ project has not only supported more than 15 jobs and more than three local businesses, it has made our bus stops safer, easier to access, less congested and more comfortable. It is great to see these improvements making it easier to get around Darwin and Palmerston - benefitting our community and visitors to the Top End.

05.01.2022 The 2020-21 Gamba Action Program begins today, supporting more than 2000 landholders to gain access to free equipment hire and herbicide to control gamba grass! This $100,000 initiative is one part of our government’s Gamba Policy election commitment to managing this invasive weed, which creates high fuel loads and burns easily, threatening lives, property and the environment. Do your part to reduce the risks caused by gamba you can get up to 10 litres of free herbicid...e if you are a landholder, and up to 20 litres if you own multiple properties.
