11.01.2022 5/6 have been writing in "First Person" to see if it helps the audience feel more connected to characters. Here are some pieces they wanted to share. I sat in the car quietly, waiting to get to our destination. We drove along the road, impatience growing amongst all of us. The blinker turned on and my insides lit up. I jumped out of the car and ran down the small slope, narrowly avoiding tripping over rocks and roots. When we got to the bottom of the hill we saw that a small ...tin boat waited at the bottom, a man perched, waiting inside of it. The boat looked old and small. I walked behind my two sisters. I could practically feel Alia's anxiety radiating off of her. The boat had dirty water in the bottom of it and mud plastered to the sides. The island was covered in bush, the house barely visible. I stepped over a rock and warily into the old tin dinghy, my mother giving me a hand for balance. The man spoke kindly, but his house looked terrifying. We rode across the river, the only noise the hum of the motor and rippling of the water behind us. No matter how nervous I felt, the excitement took over. Because little did I know, we would return home with a puppy. By Bodhi I was playing on some big hay bales that were the size of my head yesterday afternoon. It was awesome. I climbed up on the hay bales and started jumping around on them. Then my sister, Eva, came over to play. It was fun at first, then she started being annoying and making me upset. I told Eva to get in between the hay bales. Eva, was fine with that so she got in. Soon I forgot all about being upset because she got stuck and I cracked up laughing. We both climbed between the hay bales. It was funny because we were in some little openings. It was exciting because Eva and I were both crawling around in them. It was dark and also very small in between the hay bales. Eva and I were both sort of getting squished and stuck. It was hilarious! By Jack
