21.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our friend and colleague Angelo Bilias, who can really turn the 'work/life balance' rhetoric into action... he takes the day (or week) off! We wish you every happiness and success, and a 3 year sentence for good behaviour on the Law Society Council, to help make work/life balance a reality for more of us, rather than just a goal! Who'll drink to that!?... (PS - he scrubs up alright in a suit too!)

20.01.2022 Flexible working takes on all shapes and sizes and as a rural practitioner, co-working spaces are a useful way to not only save on overheads, but also avoid isolation and create new networks.

19.01.2022 Fixed fee billing is not new. Country lawyers have been doing it for years. The key for lawyers is to accurately cost a matter upfront to ensure you aren't selling yourself short when it comes time to pay the bills. My view is that it doesn't matter whether your client is a mum and dad, an SME or a large multinational, clients need certainty to enable them to plan. Knowing how to quote costs comes with experience but should be one of those practical issues that grads learn about in PLT. Thoughts anyone?
