24.01.2022 PLEASE NOTE effective Tuesday 19th May 2020 Central Mountains Men’s Shed will reopen but with conditions applied as under:- Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am to approximately 12:00pm Maximum members onsite at any one time 10 split 2 in CoachHouse,2 in Shed, 1 in Lean too with 3-4 outside and 1 supervisor.... All current rules regarding social distancing and sanitising to apply If you are unwell do NOT attend In order for this to work you will need to register your interest to attend on which day and in which area, and confirmation will be required before attending All requests to be made via the President or Secretary
23.01.2022 Work on the hand rails leading down to the Community Gardens thanks to Mark and Harry plus work on the second table for Kihilla thanks to Geoff Skate and Paul Martin and others. Work at the shed is now in full swing
21.01.2022 Great progress on our wagon wheel that is the project being worked on by Mark and Stephen, can’t wait to the finished produce.
19.01.2022 The Wagon Wheel is coming along nicely, awaiting the steel outer ring which needs to be heated in a very hot fire to expend it, then drop it over the rim and quench it quickly to cool it. Photos of this will be posted as soon as that happens. Great work by Mark and his team

18.01.2022 Welcome back to 2021, our shed is now running full time Tuesday and Thursday albeit wearing face masks whilst inside the workshops and Coach House. Plenty of activity going on with most men working on projects. Thank you all members for wearing your masks, sanitising regularly and maintaining social distancing.

16.01.2022 Work continues on the repair of the Lean To wall following the storm and water damage causing the side wall to buckle, thanks to Andrew’s guidance the project is proceeding smoothly.
14.01.2022 Great progress on our new work and storage space today, a huge thank you to Mark, Jim, Andrew and everyone who worked on clearing the area around the container. Today the container was winched 1.7 metres to the west giving us a great new area between it and the garage. Next comes the new concrete slab, timber framing, walls and roof.
14.01.2022 Great progress on our new workspace, concrete floor laid, front and back walls constructed plus the side wall half built ready to be set in place. Thanks to a Mark and Trevor for laying the concrete mix on Tuesday and thanks to Andrew for arranging the timber from Bunnings plus supervising the building of the wall framing. A great team effort by all involved, can’t wait to get the roof on and start using the space

11.01.2022 Fantastic work today on the new work space. Concrete laid Tuesday all dry, side wall put onto slab and all timber work completed then sheeted with corrugated steel sheets with plywood lining boards to follow. Thanks to Marks excellent skills in supervising and constructing great progress was made.

05.01.2022 Recent work at our Men’s Shed. Work building a bench seat for the local Anglican Church, a project led by Geoff Skate ably assisted by Bob Baxter and Paul Martin. Some of the 20 shields for the Blue Mountains Pistol club being undertaken by Andrew Jamieson with the help of a number of team members to be French polished by Ann Hindmarsh. Finally work is nearly complete on the pathway down to Mid Mountains Community Gardens, a team led by our President Mark Metcalf assisted by Harry, Ray, Roy, Stephen and others, well done to all.
05.01.2022 Great work on The West Wing today under the direction of Mark. Side wall put up, front and back walls installed followed by roof beams and some Top Hats ready for roof sheeting. Very good progress by all members who all managed to social distance during the morning. Thank you everyone.
05.01.2022 Work on The West Wing is progressing well with the roof now on, the double front doors installed and shelving from the garage moved in ready for the new layout. Thank you everyone for a tremendous effort to get this far so quickly, it won’t be long before electrics are fitted and we can start using this space.

Following last night’s Federal Government advice on non-essential services, we recommend that Men’s Shed Management Committees implement a temporary closure of all Men’s Sheds, to be reviewed as further advice is provided by the Government.... Whilst we recognise Men’s Sheds are an important social connector for many older Australians, it is imperative that every measure is taken to protect ourselves and our nation from exposure to the coronavirus. During this closure, we encourage Shedders to maintain contact with each other via phone, email or social media look out for your mates. AMSA will launch new initiatives within the coming weeks, aimed at helping Shedders to remain socially connected during this time of isolation. AMSA staff are also maintaining support services.
