13.01.2022 EMPLOYERS NOW MUST NOTIFY WORKSAFE VICTORIA OF COVID-19 CASES // UPDATES Earlier this week, the Victorian Government introduced new regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) that specifically requires employers to immediately notify WorkSafe Victoria if they become aware of an employees or contractors confirmed COVID-19 case. These regulations also apply to the self-employed people, who must immediately inform WorkSafe Victoria if they receive a po...sitive test result and have attended the workplace during the infectious period. Failure to report can result in a fine of up to $198,264 for a business and $39,652 for an individual. At Law Squared, we strongly support these new regulations and believe that they are a timely reminder that preventing transmission in the workplace is critical for the effective management of stopping the spread!
