20.01.2022 Bad News For Victorian Ducks Victoria’s Game Management Authority today announced changes to the previously announced 2021 duck season arrangements. Changes regrettably includes increasing the bag limit from two to five game ducks per day and removing the geographic restriction on hunting teal species. Other details for the 2021 season remain the same, including the reduced duration.
19.01.2022 GMA's latest announcement again appears political rather than scientific. It's a nail in the coffin for rural communities and our native birdlife. Isn't it time... 02.01.2022 Only a few months ago concerns for the low numbers of Chestnut Teal caused GMA to take them off the kill list alongside Grey Teal because of their resemblance. ...Now they have removed restriction on shooting Grey Teal without knowing the numbers for Chestnut Teal. "Due to the risk that female Chestnut Teal could be misidentified as Grey Teal, we combined the two teal species for further analysis" (GMA 14/4/21).
