23.01.2022 Play it safe with your device! Look out for exposed wires or a damaged cover on your charger or cord. Mums and Dads make sure your kids don't sleep with their phone under their pillow - this has lead to fires and burns.

19.01.2022 For those brave who gave their lives so we could live ours.

18.01.2022 Our phone lines are down. Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our phone lines. We expect the outage to be fixed soon. For anything urgent please call 0400 712 899.

17.01.2022 This is an incredibly tough time for the North, and we’re doing everything we can to support our communities. Right now, our job is to keep people safe and that...’s what we’re doing at the direction of emergency services. Currently, 16,000 customers around Townsville are without power. Most of these have been de-energised because it’s critical for the safety of customers, emergency responders, and our own teams. Some customers have also been without power due to network impacts. Hermit Park substation was switched off before it flooded last night, and multiple pillars and transformers have been swamped. There was also damage from a car accident. If your street is without power but it doesn’t appear that your area is flooded, it’s highly likely that your wider network has been inundated or is at risk. Wherever possible, crews are responding. This disaster has directly affected some of our own people and their families, flooding their homes and forcing them to evacuate: we’re all in this together. We will never risk the safety of our people or the community, and as soon as it’s safe for us to get to hard-hit areas or to re-energise, we’ll be there. For latest on outages and safety, visit our website https://bit.ly/12UHkb6

17.01.2022 Some customers are asking why we need to proceed with planned outages at a time like this. It’s all about the safety and reliability of your electricity supply.... Our crews do planned maintenance to reduce the risk of unplanned outages, which can be even longer and more inconvenient. We give customers plenty of notice to prepare for planned outages and our crews are ready to respond to any unplanned outages 24/7. The community’s understanding and support means a lot to them. 05.01.2022 We’re extremely concerned at the potential for tragedy from switchboard and wiring work by unqualified people. We’ve already come across a couple of examples wh...ere someone has been attempting to modify switchboards in homes affected by this week’s storms. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, both to the unqualified DIYers as well as to people living in homes with dodgied-up wiring. ANY electrical work, no matter how apparently minor, should only be performed by a licenced electrician. Find one in your area: https://bit.ly/2ITH5my There have been some worrying incidents of well-intentioned people putting up tape on or near fallen lines to mark the damage. Please don’t report it to 13 16 70, but stay well away. We know it's tough being without power, and we’re doing everything we can to restore supply. Please, help us to do it safely treat any line as though it’s live, and don’t endanger yourself or others with potentially deadly electrical work. See more
