The Vocal Showcase AGM meeting will be held on 24th November at 10.30am in the Mount Gambier Library. Showcase is desperate for volunteer, if you are interested in contributing your talents/expertise/knowledge towards this event. 09.01.2022 REGISTRATIONS FOR SHOWCASE 2019 ARE OPEN! Register via "Stardom" and follow the prompts. We have made a few changes, including the addition of "Band with a Vocal Feature" category (Under 19 and OpenSections) and Small Vocal Groups (3-8 voices) an opportunity for fantastic small group singers (U14, 17, 19 and Open Sections). 07.01.2022 ~Vale Beth McKay~ Sadly, cherished committee member, Beth McKay passed away last Saturday. Beth was loved by all her Showcase friends and she served as an invaluable member of the Showcase team since its inception. Her support for and dedication to Showcase and the arts was always constant and she will be dearly missed by all. In memory of Beth, Friday’s sessions will begin at 11:30am (rather than 10am) to allow those who know and love Beth to attend her funeral, at Carinya G...ardens at 10am. **The afternoon session will also begin at 2:30pm.

06.01.2022 SHOWCASE REWIND Helen Schultz Memorial Winner 2018 - Gaj Frost! The Committee asked Gaj for an update on his amazing musical journey since winning the 2018 Helen Schultz Memorial Scholarship. Name: Gaj Frost... Musical about me: I sing and play piano. I enjoy singing contemporary pop and jazz and also like to write my own songs. I am interested in learning more about composing music and performance. Main Music influences: Ed Sheeran, Nathan Tasker. I listen to everything from instrumental to the Beatles to ballads from musicals. How did the Helen Schultz Scholarship funds assist with your musical journey: I used the scholarship money to help me complete the Class of Cabaret Course in Adelaide this year. I was part of a group of students who had access to 17 sessions and mentorship from professional performers. The performers also helped us produce a short cabaret show each which we performed at the end of the Cabaret Festival in June. I learnt lots of new skills and really enjoyed the experience. What's next?! (musically speaking): I am currently working on lots of local things. I am playing keyboard in the orchestra for the South East Primary Schools Music Festival. I am also performing in solos at the City Concert Band concert in a few weeks’ time. I am also rehearsing for the Grant High School Musical in September where I have a singing and acting role! Good luck Gaj! Your passion for music inspires us (Also... one week to go until Showcase 2019!)
