25.01.2022 Every Friday morning for the past few months we have been able to promote our young athletes performance on the SEN Made for the Mount Segment. We look forward to this continuing next year and we thank SEN SA 1629 for supporting our region and it's up and coming stars. If you have, or know of a business that would like to be a partner with the Academy and SEN to ensure this segment can continue, please contact Ros on 0419 366 649.

25.01.2022 Well done to LCRSA Athletes Thomas and Nicholas Bignell who competed at the Christmas Cracker Meet in Adelaide before Christmas. Thomas did a .41 sec PB in 50 Breast (32.64 sec) and broke the 16yo SA Country record. This is an amazing performance considering Thomas has been battling Shoulder and Groin injuries for the past month. He swam in the 15&O age group in the final heat against Josh Palmer and other top breaststrokers in the State and finished 8th. 14yo Nicholas competed in 11 events as a preparation for SA Country Championships in early January. He swam 7 PBs, the biggest PB being 17 sec in 200 IM and achieving a 15yo State time in 100 breast. Outstanding work guys.

16.01.2022 On Monday the 28th December, 2020, Lonestar Academy Athletes Elijah Stratford and Charles Moore from Mt Gambier Swimming Club competed in the 9th Annual Robe Long Cally Swim. This was a first time competing in an open water swim for Elijah and he was rewarded for his effort to complete the 2.4km swim in first place. Charles also completed the 2.4km swim with a personal best from last year. A great effort by both boys and it allowed for a little bit of enduran...ce training for them in the lead up to the SA Country Swimming Championships. Elijah is hoping to compete in the Jetty to Jetty Open Water swim, in Adelaide, on Australia Day. Well done guys. 13.01.2022 Another outstanding achievement by Leila Croker. Leila was selected to attend the Little Athletics Australia U15 National Camp to be held at the AIS in Canberra last month but unfortunately it was cancelled due to COVID-19. She was selected for the Combined Event (heptathlon). The Little Athletics Australia National Camp is a very special event in the calendar of athletics. Prior to its cancellation Coles LAA and Member Associations selected 120 able bodied and multi-class a...thletes to attend the camp at the AIS in Canberra. These athletes were chosen as they were the top athletes nationally for their event. LAA recognises that this was a great achievement and a testament to Leila's ability and commitment to the sport. https://littleathletics.com.au/congratulations-to-the-athl/ Comfort Inn Manhattan University of South Australia Mount Gambier Campus Commodore on the Park Limestone Coast Local Government Association See more

08.01.2022 Last week was our final LCRSA Education session for 2020. Our Sports Nutritionist Lauren Stribley gave our athletes insights and information on what they need to be eating, drinking and why to get to the top. A big thanks to Lauren, Emma Scharkie and Lisa Barker for getting our educational sessions up and running both face to face and online. Thanks also to Academy partner Commodore on the Park for putting our Education Facilitators up in the best Accommodation and Restaurant in Mount Gambier. 08.01.2022 Massive Congratulations to LCRSA Athlete Hayden Crowe, who competed brilliantly at the Athletics SA All School Games on the weekend. His overall tally was 2 gold & 1 bronze medals in the U18 age group, he is only 15!! In the 100m he was placed third, narrowly missing out on silver by .01 second again. He ran this after his 400m race & had to overcome cramp from his previous race...so gutsy effort! He placed first just prior to this in the 400m, smashing the U18 national quali...fying time & achieving this from the outside lane!( His time 50.04 sec.! His previous best from state's earlier this year was 51.78. National qualifying U18 is 51.14)! Yesterday he backed this up with a win in the 200m also under national qualifying time in his heat. Well done Hayden, you are a superstar. Comfort Inn Manhattan University of South Australia Mount Gambier Campus Limestone Coast Local Government Association See more
