More than half a million containers sofar returned in Lane Cove is impressive. The Lane Cove Sustainability Action group was actively involved in the campaign for a 10C Deposit on bottles and cans.Reducing waste and litter must become the new normal everywhere.

24.01.2022 Last Saturday LCSAG got a special tour of the Lane Cove Return and Earn depot in Lane Cove West business park. Mason is one of the owners and explained in great detail what happens to the bottles at the depot, how the machine works, and where it all gets recycled. Thanks Mason for a great tour! We then ventured to Mindarie Park where Max and his team set up the Pick Me Up Cafe. The permanent structure is still on its way but he’s there every weekend weather permitting. Well done Max on your great coffee and sustainability initiatives!

22.01.2022 Let me tell you about the other virus called plastic. Its massively bigger than the one we are dealing with at present. Its been around and spreading rapidly ...since the early fifties. No amount of no handshakes or toiletpaper has been able to stop it. It has already killed billions of lives in and above the ocean and on land. Unlike the corona virus there is an effective cure for this virus, its called Refuse single use plastic wherever you go and NEVER LITTER. If we all get on board with this strategy then perhaps one day this virus can be contained. See more

22.01.2022 Climate Change - Act Now - Inaction is not an option if we want to protect the health of our planetary home for our children and grandchildren.

20.01.2022 Lane Cove Council has declared a Climate Emergency. Our thanks to the Councillors who voted in favour of passing the motion. A big thank you to all the great speakers and those who filled the gallery in support. We are now looking forward to an action plan where Council and community work together in order to reduce emissions and respond to a changing climate. Whilst State and Federal leaders are failing to deliver grassroot actions all around the country and the world are giving us hope and direction.

19.01.2022 Companies which want to be part of the solution have to change direction. Recycling will not get us out of the plastic crisis.

18.01.2022 Some cities take the opportunity to create a different "normal" after Corona.

18.01.2022 Youth and technology to the rescue at water treatment plants?

17.01.2022 Would I like to see a headline like this with the word "Australia" in it? You bet! What makes us so different that we can't be leaders on environmental issues? I think we know the answers, that's why we must continue to petition, demonstrate and write to our leaders.

17.01.2022 Bottled water? No thanks. Plastic Free July is around the corner, a perfect time to say goodbye to bottled water forever. We are fortunate to live in a country where our taps deliver some of the cleanest water in the world.

17.01.2022 Lane Cove Council and community know the value of our precious water.

10.01.2022 We'll be at the Lane Cove Return and Earn depot this Saturday morning for a tour of the brand new facility! Join us for the tour, and a coffee at Mindarie Park afterwards.

10.01.2022 We have a right to reject single use and excessive packaging whilst our politicians have an obligation to take serious action on banning single use and other harmful plastic products such as styrofoam and microbeads.

09.01.2022 The LCSAG team was an active participant in the campaign which was then called Cash for Containers and now goes by the name of Earn and Return. We are pleased to now see the 2nd Earn and Return facility in Lane Cove. The container deposit scheme in New South Wales, has been a phenomenal success story. ... Conceived as a litter reduction initiative, Return and Earn has now collected more than 4 billion containers in just over two years!

08.01.2022 It is not too late to voice your opinion about the proposed synthetic "grass" at the Bob Campbell oval. Either follow the link below or look for these awesome volunteers in the Lane Cove area and sign the handwritten petition. With a rapidly increasing population in our area we need to protect all the natural spaces. What is essentially plastic grass will wear off and resulting microplastics will find their way into surrounding waterways. https://www.change.org/p/stop-synthetic-grass-at-bob-camp/c
