19.01.2022 Great news from DTMR for the Moreton Bay Region about the Bruce Highway UpgradeDeception Bay Road Interchange The major construction contract has been awarded and is expected to commence in early October 2020 with completion expected in early 2023, weather and construction conditions permitting. Key features of the project include: - providing 2 new parallel bridges over the Bruce Highway and removing the existing 2-lane bridge - upgrading 2 signalised intersections on Decep...tion Bay Road, 1 immediately west of the interchange at Old Gympie Road, and 1 immediately east of the interchange at Eastern Service Road - increasing the length and capacity of existing on and off ramps - providing active transport facilities for pedestrians and bike riders, through the provision of on road cycle lanes and a dedicated off-road shared path (pedestrian and cycle path) providing a safe connection for bike riders to cross the Bruce Highway. The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments on an 80:20 (federal:state) basis totalling $163.3 million. See more
