25.01.2022 A number of our Active 8 students participated in the Paddle SA Team Paddle Challenge just outside of Blanchetown this weekend. We had 2 teams that came 1st and 2nd in the event. Well done to all.

23.01.2022 We thought we'd share an update from our sister school in Indonesia, Sekolah Pilar, seeing as we have not been able to meet them this year with our Exchange Program. As an IB school they too have a focus on Service as Action and with this project the students demonstrated the IB Learner Profile attributes 'Principled and Caring' while supporting members of the local community effected by COVID-19. 23.01.2022 Graduation Update: A text message has been sent out to all Year 12 Parents/Caregivers regarding the update. Students can now bring 2 guests to attend this years Graduation. The location will now be changed to the School Gymnasium so social distancing can be practised. Face masks will be mandatory for all guests (excluding students) Please see the details below. ... 23.01.2022 Today, 11th of November, our year 9 Student Ambassadors were invited to attend and participate in the Semaphore RSL’s Remembrance Day Service. The students read the Acknowledgement of Country within the service and were included, as Officials, in placing wreaths at the Semaphore Memorial.

20.01.2022 Year 8 ART EXHIBITION Students explored how artists have used symbols in Art, from both cultural and personal perspectives. They created a Mandala that included a realistic drawing of their eye, a Buddhist inspired line mandala, a Basquiat inspired personal painting, and an Australian Aboriginal Art inspired ‘Connection to Place’ circle. Enjoy their beautiful and personal art works.

20.01.2022 Today one of our Year 8 maths class spent their Maths Lesson down in Port Adelaide. This was part of a Maritime/Maths unit called Ratio’s in the Port Students focussed on the areas of estimation, scale, angles, ratio and measurement. The students also visited the Australian Maritime & Fisheries Academy.

16.01.2022 Yesterday the Year 12 Food and Hospitality student prepared a spectacular lunch for the Executive Leaders at the school. They set up a lovely restaurant environment in the Home Economics building and served a delicious 3 course meal followed by coffee/tea to their diners. Congratulations to the students and their teachers, Ms Mahajan and Ms Vassos, on preparing this very enjoyable dining experience.

14.01.2022 Le Fevre High School will be holding it first ever Careers & Further Education Expo on Tuesday 18 August, 2020 from 6.30-7.30pm. The event provides an opportunity for students and their families to connect with Tertiary Institutions, Training Providers and Industry Partners from a range of different career pathways for guidance, clarity and information relation to various career options. 14.01.2022 Some examples from the Year 10 Multicultural Food Experience. Can you guess what countries these foods come from?

14.01.2022 At the end of last term Student Voice organised a multicultural week to celebrate and bring awareness to Le Fevre’s diverse community. The week consisted of Sepak Takraw, a traditional Indonesian sport with similarities to volleyball, student led dances, a GeoGuesser game, multicultural art workshops, and a quiz celebrating diversity. The week was a huge success and students that participated thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

11.01.2022 Today BAE in partnership with ASC shipbuilding presented to a group of Year 10 and 11 students. The presentation was based around the opportunity for these students to commence a School Based Apprenticeship in the shipbuilding industry. As the Maritime School of South Australia we will continue to provide Maritime and STEM opportunities for our students.

11.01.2022 This morning several students, Bu Kylie, Bu Sarah and Bu Karen joined a live chat with colleagues, peers and parents from our sister school, Sekolah Pilar. This chat was focussed on ‘navigating the new normal’ through the lens of internationalism. It was a wonderful opportunity to exchange experiences and our learning as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. We are exploring ways to continue to develop our understandings of internationalism and strengthen our friendship .

10.01.2022 Great article from Ice Factor SA regarding some of our students. The students involved in this program are fantastic ambassadors of our school and can’t wait to be back on the ice scoring goals next Term.

10.01.2022 Some photos from the Day 1 Fire Practical. These students are completing a Cart II in Maritime Operations. This practical was part of their Safety Skills Set. This course is hosted by LFHS but is available to all students in South Australia. If you are interested or know anyone who may be interested please contact the school.

09.01.2022 At the end of last term students had an opportunity to try Durian, an Indonesian fruit as part of their unit on ‘Indonesian food and culture’. Durian is famous for its unique smell and taste, and it was interesting to hear some what the students thought. Here are some comments from them... It smells like... Pineapple petrol with off yogurt ... Mango Off garlic Off coconut milk Old, off passion fruit It tastes awesome! I love the texture and the tangy taste. Delicious Kind of sweet. I can’t explain it. It tastes funky It tastes horrible. I gagged three times If onion yoghurt was a thing... Mango mixed with onion It has a horrible before taste and an ‘alright’ after taste.

06.01.2022 Today four of our Year 10 students joined students from various Adelaide High Schools to participate in The University Of South Australia’s STEM for Humanity Day. Students participated in three different activities/challenges on the day. Credit to all four students who excelled throughout. Another great example of STEM at Le Fevre High School.

06.01.2022 As most Year 12s and Year 12 parent/caregivers are aware, this years Graduation Ceremony and Prize Night scheduled for Thursday the 26th of November will not be happening. We are still working to try and organise some type of celebration in the near future.

At this stage we will be hosting the graduation in the schools PAC for students only and provide an online streaming option for families to watch. However, if COVID rules do change between now and then we will offer the chance to parents/caregivers to attend. If this is the case the event will take place in the schools gymnasium. As a school we are trying our best to ensure we have a celebration for our Year 12 students.

01.01.2022 Today some of our year 8 and 12 Indonesian students joined students from St Johns Grammar at Flinders University to make a video promoting the study of Indonesian. They shared why they felt learning Indonesian was valuable and enjoyed some Indonesian games, food and had a Gamelan lesson. It was a very positive day. Terima kasih to Pak Craig Bailey for helping with the transport!

Students are required to attend school unless they are: Feeling unwell Have a chronic medical condition or compromised immune system and are not able to attend school on advice from their medical practitioner... Live in a household with others that are deemed vulnerable to COVID-19 and are not able to attend school on advice of their medical practitioner Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have been required to self-isolate by SA Health. We hope to see more of our students returning to school.
