23.01.2022 MEET THE LE PAGE STAFF George Danson Principal... I started teaching at 25 in 1988, and worked in private and public colleges and schools. I worked for the Education Department as a Literacy Consultant. I attained a Dip.T, B.Ed, Grad Dip. Italian and M.Ed at Monash University. My previous school was awarded first school in Australia, to become a Lighthouse school for teaching students Coveys 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The number one element I celebrate at Le Page PS is that we are inclusive and embrace difference. My personal mission statement is, Help Others. Keeping this in mind helps me respond in the moment, true to my values. I enjoy being with close friends and relatives. Music inspirers me and has lifted my spirit through challenging times. I am most passionate about flying and exploring the world. I enjoy eating foods from around the world as well as bangers and mash. My greatest personal achievement was becoming a dad. My favourite quote is, What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other? Being the principal at Le Page Primary School has been the best four years of my career. I am blessed.
22.01.2022 The Australian Aboriginal Flag This week an additional flagpole was installed and today student leaders raised the Australian Aboriginal Flag, alongside the Australian National Flag. The two flags stand tall and serve as a warm welcome to all our visitors. The Australian Aboriginal Flag was designed by artist Harold Thomas and first flown at Victoria Square in Adelaide, South Australia, on National Aborigines Day in July 1971. Since then, it has become a widely recognised sy...mbol of the unity and identity of Aboriginal people. The colours of the flag have symbolic meaning. Black represents the Aboriginal people of Australia. The yellow circle represents the sun, the giver of life and protector. Red represents the red earth, and Aboriginal peoples' spiritual connection to the land. George Danson Principal

21.01.2022 MEET THE LE PAGE STAFF Hi everyone! My name is Kayla Mugford. I teach grade 3/4 at Le Page Primary School. I have been teaching for 6 years but only joined LePage in 2020. I am so grateful to have found such a beautiful school!... Growing up in Canada was very different to life here in Australia. Sometimes we would need to wake up before school just so we could dig our car out of the snow! I must say, it wasnt very hard for my husband to convince me to move here. I bring a range of teaching experience to Le Page PS. I have taught across many different grade levels and at schools in Melbourne and Canada. But I must say, I really enjoy the sense of community at Le Page. Students, their families, and staff have all made me feel really welcome, making my time this year wonderful. My professional mission statement is to inspire my students to be more than they thought they could be. I strive to achieve this by creating an inclusive, supportive and caring learning environment in my classroom. I cant wait to get back in the classroom! Hopefully see you all there!!!
21.01.2022 With the return to school just around the corner, why not take the time to look at all the amazing resources that Le Page has compiled - let's make our return to school an exciting and positive experience :)
21.01.2022 MEET THE LE PAGE STAFF Miss Madeleine Simos Foundation Teacher... I started my teaching career in Melbourne before jetting off to London where I spent 2 years living and teaching there. Travelling is a passion of mine and this was the perfect opportunity for me to explore the other side of the world and make lots of new friends along the way. One of my fondest travel memories was visiting Morocco and camping for two nights in the Sahara Desert (I even got to ride a camel!). When I arrived back in Melbourne I spent some time cover teaching before I found Le Page and joined the teaching team in October 2019. Fun facts about Miss Simos: My nationality is Greek My favourite colour is green My favourite cuisine is Chinese My favourite movie is ANYTHING Disney! My favourite musical if I cant say all of them Id have to say Hamilton! My favourite country I have visited (apart from Greece) is Prague - It is like visiting a village from a Fairy Tale! My favourite thing to do in my spare time is see my friends, go to a live concert or spend some time walking my pet dog Mitch. If you ask my 2020 Prep students to describe me they will tell you I am silly, funny, sometimes serious and that I wear lots of costumes and make funny videos. My personal mission statement is to celebrate my strengths and use them to bring out the strengths and positivity in others. This is something I try to live by, especially in teaching. I always try to bring out the best in my students and help them find and use their own strengths. I cannot wait to see what 2021 has to bring for Le Page and am so excited to see the school continue to grow

19.01.2022 MEET THE LE PAGE STAFF Hello, my name is Kelli Colvin (Miss Kelli) and I've been lucky enough to be part of the Le Page family since 2019. I'm an Integration Aide and have worked in both the Foundation and Grade 5/6 classrooms at Le Page. I get to work closely with both students and staff, and really enjoy the inclusive atmosphere of the school. We look out and take care of each other-it really does feel like an extended family!... I love gardening, cooking and textile crafts. I'm also involved in 'Garden Club' at Le Page, which runs over two lunchtimes per week and is open to anyone who would like to participate. We plant, grow and harvest our own organic produce. Last year we were able to offer our excess produce to school families at our school assembly once per week. Now that Spring has sprung, I'm very much looking forward to getting back to school and back into the vegie patch with our budding green thumbs at Le Page. Please stop and say 'hi' if you see us pottering about.

18.01.2022 Helping someone is definitely showing kindness. We can help other people in all sorts of ways- big or small. Holding the door open for someone, helping someone reach something on a shelf, giving directions, playing with them if they are lonely, helping someone read if they cant yet, setting the table, doing the dishes, putting your washing away, making not only your own bed but someone elses! No act of helping is to small. Even just a smile can help someone in a big way. What are you going to do to help someone today and over the weekend?? Get helping
17.01.2022 MEET THE LE PAGE STAFF Mrs Shelley Bradley Visual Arts Teacher... A little about yourself: How long you have been teaching, Background, etc Yes, I am married to Mr Bradley we have been together for 20 years. We have 2 gorgeous boys who are going into Year 7 & 8. I grew up in Highett with my mum, dad and sister, where my parents are still living and I now live in Cheltenham so I have only moved a suburb away. I am a good listener, very loyal, caring, patient, enthusiastic, understanding and supportive person. I love my family, friends, education, sports, arts, movies, camping, holidays and music. I have been in the education profession for over 24 years. For the first 10 years I was an integration aide (support staff) working with students with special needs at Southmoor PS. I worked hard to get my teaching degree over that time so I have now been teaching for 14 years as a teacher at Wallarano PS. Teaching is definitely a passion of mine, I take pride in being able to support every student as much as I can to believe in themselves, to feel confident and proud about their work and what they are doing. What inspires you / love about our school / passions: I am excited and love that I have the opportunity to be part of such a supportive and inclusive team at Le Page PS and the community. When I started at Southmoor PS it was a small but growing school and now joining Le Page it has similar feeling and it makes me feel like I am a part of a small but growing, caring and nurturing community again that accepts everyone for who they are. I especially love teaching Visual Arts as it allows me to be creative and imaginative and I am able to encourage students to experience different materials and styles while they explore and have fun creating their art work. I love that Le Pages school mission is Identify the talent, develop the confidence and create the leader. It is our job to find it and to show it to them. My personal and teaching mission statement is Believe in yourself, anything is possible Favourite quote: Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen. J.W.
