25.01.2022 In April 2015 Environment Minister Greg Hunt uplisted LbP to Critically Endangered. He then promised, "A revised Recovery Plan will be completed by mid 2016. Driving action to turn around the decline of the Leadbeater's Possum." Sussan Ley wrote to us on 2 October 2019, "It is anticipated that the recovery plan will be finalised ... by the end of 2019." We are STILL WAITING!

22.01.2022 Logging is considered a threat to species such as the critically endangered Leadbeater's possum and vulnerable greater glider. In May of this year, a federal court ruled that VicForests had breached environmental laws by logging the habitat of threatened species. VicForests are appealing that decision.

14.01.2022 BREAKING - Locals out for a picnic, have gathered this morning in the Snobs Creek Valley on Taungurung country, temporalily halting logging operations by preven...ting a log truck from leaving with threatened species habitat. They have come together to send a strong message to the Daniel Andrews government that logging native forests is unacceptable in a climate emergency. The community is calling for an end to native forest logging and a just transition for the industry; for water security, biodiversity, and the climate. Snobs creek valley is an incredible water catchment. Logging in this valley has been found to increase siltation levels in the creek, placing at risk this fragile ecosystem. Snobs creek fish hatchery, the only Victorian government owned hatchery, supplies hundreds of waterways with juvenile fish across Victoria. The continued decimation of these forests is pushing this hatchery closer to collapse. One government industry is ultimately destroying another...the community is taking a stand against this ecological destruction and calling for an immediate cessation of native timber logging in not only the Snobs Creek Valley, but the entire state of Victoria. Stay engaged for upcoming actions. The community is not going to watch these forests disappear without a fight! Please show your support and take action by contacting these decision makers expressing your concern for the destructive practices of VicForests. 12.01.2022 It's just two weeks since VicForests lodged their appeal to try to overturn our landmark win in the Federal Court. In that time we have already received donations approaching $48,000. This incredible response gives us confidence that we will be able to mount the best possible defence of Justice Mortimer's thorough and carefully reasoned judgement that showed VicForests has been unlawfully logging public forests. It also sends a powerful message that the community is backing us on this critical issue. We are so grateful for such an amazing demonstration of confidence and support. The campaign is still open - Thanks so much to all of you!
